Side note; gonna make my zenith a archer instead of a brawler. As far as her combat style goes.

My Twilight is more a librarian/scrivener who also sells book copies.  I wasn't planning on any form of sorcery but will likely have Investigation as the supernal.  I'm running behind in stuff (but my app is done, so yay!) but my sheet is around halfway done.

If you want to start out knowing Seven Words of Wisdom, no objections, but let me know.  Basic understanding will be that she's believed to be Exalted by Mela, and she's the type to avoid lying but also make prestigious use of half-truths.

Sounds reasonable.

So, a suggestion - perhaps it's whispered she's Chosen by Mela, but if it was commonly spoken of, the House Tepet might try to snap her up immediately, because, you know, Bull, Tepet forces, twilight of the House... that sort of thing. :P

Edit: On a more important note, I'm requesting that all character sheets and backstories that will be submitted are submitted by this coming Wednesday. That is, I am closing submission on Wednesday the 11th of November with an eye towards hammering out who will be in the game by this time next week. Mind, I don't care whether your character sheet is final or not, but I would like it mostly complete so that I can send you feedback and thoughts on what you have before I finish. I'm preparing to start this game up soon, and I'd like to see more of the characters before then, ideally.

Mine is mostly done. I just need to remove the sorcery and see what I want to replace it with. I think I'm about 90% done already though.

Yeah, as I said - you don't need the final sheet, just one for me to see what suggestions I can offer. No rush, though. :)

Seven Words of Wisdom was conceived during the destruction of Akhetan, with a Tepet father and an unwilling mother.  The prophecy of her birth gave her the name with the claim that, upon her deathbed, she would speak seven words of absolute wisdom, distilled so perfectly as to let the entire world hear and understand.

At this stage in her life, it would be easier to fill seven tomes.

Her current position puts her at high authority of the Well of Knowledge Library, which started out simply copying Immaculate texts but has expanded as the Immaculate influence has waned.  The poor are given access to the lore, and the rich often purchase copies of books for themselves.  Sages as well as scriveners find employment there.

Some claim that she was Exalted by Mela, but it's never been proven.  Certainly she's proven herself as talented between her many different tasks: sage, healer, scrivener, even a detective when a situation requires a keen eye and open mind.  Her existence demonstrates that there is as much power in a well-used tome as in a blade.

I think I'm set.

I think we should write "orientation" on the character sheets. Normally it's not part of the sheet, but it's necessary on E., I believe :P.
Granted, I'd expect most characters to be "story-sexual", but at least we would know what we can expect from each other ;D.

Where's she getting all the money for Resources 3? I know we discussed this briefly over Skype, but I've more or less forgotten what we decided, if anything. For Resources 3... well, here's what the book says on the matter:
Quote from: Ex3 Core
[Resources 3] is the income of the heads of established patrician houses, large cartels, or Guild merchant princes, and is also the usual discretionary stipend or income for Dynasts. These characters are usually economies unto themselves, with entourages who help manage their assets and depend on them for a living.
That's... a lot of money. I mean, I'm all for letting her have it, but I'd love a discussion as to why she has as much as the average Dynast's stipend available to her.

Limit Break - Heart of Flint - The Solar is insulted, belittled, or deliberately frustrated by another character.
Ah, remember that the actual limit breaks are no longer decided at chargen. They're contextual now. I don't mind the limit break condition, but when you break the sort of break you have is based on what I as the ST (with your input as a player) think is appropriate for the situation.

Hm, interesting that she has no ties. I would recommend that maybe she have one for her library? Her retainer? Her unknown father? She seems very driven and not terribly good at connecting with people, but I would recommend adding some intimacies towards things and beings she can comprehend.

Let me know if I missed anything.
Hm... I can't see anything off the top of my head that you've missed, but I've said most of what I think already. Let me know what you're feeling on those things, right?

Though I'm not sure it's necessary, this does bring up a point that I should ask about. How much, if any, sex do we want in our chronicle? I'm inclined towards a minimalist approach to actual sex, if only so that it does not grow to consume the story, but I'm not against including some. It's up to you folks, really.

Well, given our virtual location, and Exalted being well-known for it, I'd say it is likely to happen :P.
How much screen time it would get, is a matter that's almost unrelated to the quantity of sex itself. My guess was that the screen time would be a matter to be determined between the participants on a case-by-case basis.

My general rule of thumb is if it fits what is going on in the story, fair enough. If it doesn't, I'm unlikley to go out of my way to look for it.

Background
Peleps Daishan was born and raised a son of the Household of Peleps Kaizoku, and like many of this household, he spent a lot of time learning about, on or near the sea. With his family's status of unofficial Realm pirates, that's to be expected. He doesn't have a great many memories of this time though

Peleps Daishan died at sea. A great storm arose, his ship was separated from the rest of the squadron, damage taken in a battle with Lintha pirates having slowed it to the point it could not outrun the storm. Damaged, and short of crew, the ship was buffeted and battered. Sailors were plucked one by one from the deck by waves that seemed almost sentient.

They were. The storm was not a normal storm, but a hunting party of the Fair Folk, far from their normal waters. Peleps Daishan was one of the last taken. Perhaps that was why he survived, the Fair Folk having sated the worst of their lusts on those already lost. He was not as fortunate, to be killed out of hand. Instead he was taken.

He who was Daishan was now a slave, to be used by the Fair Folk in any way that amused them. They took him to deep, dark, places and changed him there, so he would last longer, amuse them for longer.

He can't recall how long he was amongst them. Months. Perhaps years.

His escape was a shock to many. The hunting party had encountered a group of water spirits and were seeking uncontested passage through their realm. Their slave suddenly addressed one spirit, calling on ancient pacts in the name of who he was before. The spirit saw the reincarnation of one he owed a debt to, and fulfilled his oath. The hunting party were slaughtered, the few survivors fleeing before the spirits.

The once more Exalted Eclipse solemnly thanked his old friend, and acknowledged the debt paid. As a last boon, the spirit took him safely back to the shore, leaving him on a beach with Port Calin a distant blur on the horizon.

Unused to being above water, he was weak and uncoordinated. He was found by a Guild caravan, and having nothing of worth to pay for any help they might give him, they promptly enslaved him once again, shackling him and tossing him in a wagon with others who were to be sold in Nexus. Once he recovered his strength, he taught them the error of their ways. Recovered and now equiped with clothing and equipment that had been Guild property, he set out to explore.

Over time, some memories came back to him, enough to know that his former family would likely want to see him dead. Not only had he not fallen gloriously in battle, he had been taken as a slave, something that would mar the entire family with dishonour, and then worst of all, had exalted as Anathema.

Peleps Daishan died at sea. The man who stood on that muddy trail took the name Kheldaran. It would serve well enough for now, and could always be discarded later, if necessary.

His wandering around the Scavenger Lands found him creating a number of identities, and finding several useful tools along the way. A poorly thought out excursion to the haunted city of Denandsor almost cost him his life, but he escaped it bringing the Nymph Calinara with him, having rescued her from the empty city and its curse. She decided to stay with him, as he usually ended up in such interesting situations, mostly unmanifested and inside of him, but taking her true form around expanses of water that she judged worthy.

Kheldaran, normal appearance

Alternate identities

Jiao Ting, the merchant

A small time merchant from the Scavanger Lands, who seeks to become a Merchant Prince. Tends to deal in merchandise of little interest to The Guild.

Old Wolf, wandering troublemaker

Wandering vagabond, teller of tales, finder of occasional lost items (sometimes before anyone even realises they're lost in the first place), claims to be a Wu Xia (wandering exorcist), and will happily help a village deal with a troublesome spirit in return for a hot meal and a few drinks.

I'll have to bump Resources down to 2.  I didn't realize it got ramped down so much.  That means I've got a floating bonus point to put somewhere.

I didn't realize Limit Breaks weren't decided by the player.  Not really a fan of that, but you're right that that's how it's listed in the rules.

I'll also add in a minor tie to the Well of Knowledge Library.

Yeah, Resources increases exponentially, from what I can tell. Resources 2 is twice as much as Resources 1, but Resources three is over 50 times Resources 2. It's a lot. Resources 2 makes much more sense than 3 for her right now.

I didn't realize Limit Breaks weren't decided by the player.  Not really a fan of that, but you're right that that's how it's listed in the rules.
Personally, I'm fond of it, because it means that Creation won't be quite so oblivious in that it doesn't notice the Great Curse - in 2e it was sort of like "every so often X decides to sell all of her things and go sit in isolation... I wonder why?" Now it's much more clearly causal - "huh, when he was unable to help that group of people, he went berserk and killed their tormenters." one might say of a Solar, while another time one might say of the same Solar "huh, those people were being ungrateful even when he saved them, and he became extremely sad... that makes sense." It makes the Great Curse not quite so obvious, in my opinion.

I'll also add in a minor tie to the Well of Knowledge Library.
Fair enough!

Do you want the nymph to be a character? Because I don't think she can be represented by Followers... but I mean, she might just be a friend who doesn't go out of her way to aid Kheldaran.

So, as a final question - are those alternate identities actual Personae (created by those persona charms) at this time?

I respectfully disagree for this reason: it makes sense to have one character flaw which is very different from the normal, but less so to have lots of different ones.

If someone has a temper, they might go into a blind rage every so often, and it's part of who they are.  If someone normally doesn't and goes into a blind rage once, they'll wonder where in the world that came from.

To me, it seems like it'd be more obvious, not less.

Hopefully the player and ST can talk out what Break makes sense, though.

Well, that's a fair point, but... I think that I still have to disagree. If someone witnesses the suffering of innocents for months on end only to fly into a rage because some rashka noble tried to make him like a puppy, it seems... weird. Like, random rages should trigger when they make sense and make for a more interesting story. If the character seems prone to anger, than berserk rages might be more common than sudden intense doubts... but if that character's lost in the desert when he gets to 10 limit, having sudden crushing doubts about his abilities seems to make more sense to me, rather than just exploding in anger. I mean, YMMV, definitely, but I like it a lot more.

Hopefully the player and ST can talk out what Break makes sense, though.
That's pretty much the idea, I think.

I do have a question here, but I think we can go into it in more detail later - where's his Manse, and what's it like? Who built it, and why? What story hooks can I hang off of it? That sort of thing.

I haven't gone into any great level of detail on that yet. I wasn't sure how much you'd want to incorporate it into this game.

If you've hammered out his code of honour, I would like it to be a bit more specific, because that's easier to hang hooks and social influence off of. For instance... "Lies make enemies of friends," for instance, or the like.

Haven't finished it yet.

Do you want the nymph to be a character? Because I don't think she can be represented by Followers... but I mean, she might just be a friend who doesn't go out of her way to aid Kheldaran.

She'd probably be an Ally rather than a Follower. I haven't really incorporated her into this as anything more than background, so haven't paid any points for her. If you need me to I can shift 1 dot of Followers to Ally, and I think that would cover it. Alternately I can just take those couple of lines out.

So, as a final question - are those alternate identities actual Personae (created by those persona charms) at this time?

At this time, no. They're disguises and fake identities he uses when he needs them.

When I build up my level, I may create them using the persona charms, but at the moment I don't have the prerequisites.

For my own 2c, I agree with WK here, based on what we know of the First Age... it makes alittle more sense if Solars were prone to going off on whatever extreme fit the moment, rather than having one particular OCD. Its harder to notice, and would create more systemic problems.

So, on the code of honour, I'm thinking something along the lines of the Code of Xia, from the Wu Xia genre.

Eight common attributes of the xia are listed as benevolence, justice, individualism, loyalty, courage, truthfulness, disregard for wealth and desire for glory.

Truthfulness he would hold to those he deemed worthy of it, whereas he would have no problem lying to 'bad guys'.

Wealth isn't important in and off itself, but its a tool he can use to improve society.

Glory isn't overly important to him now, but he can use it to attach to a particular persona to create a legend around them, as it were.

Does that help?

I have a few ideas where the manse is concerned... though they were kind of focused on the idea of a Solar manse, so I may not use the one's I've had before. That said, I do want to involve the manse somehow in the story, albeit perhaps not immediately. The thing is, Manse is a merit that's really quite potent for the dots you pay for it (giving both Demesne and Hearthstone as it does), and it has the potential for a ton of story relevance... so I kind of want to involve it, otherwise it's just kind of a gamey thing to pick (not that I think this was your intention at all, just saying generally).

Haven't finished it yet.
You have now, but I'll address that in a sec. :P

Either or works for me. I think that she might have some difficulty in the Mother River, though, because Mother River is angry, and probably wouldn't appreciate an elemental muscling in on her territory if the water level starts drooping.

Excellent! There's still time before I have to read up on what exactly they do. xD

Fair enough. :P

Hm... yes... that would work, but I'll probably need to be reminded from time to time about what it is, exactly, especially if you want to use it in social influence. (I'll probably remember the things that can be appealed to, but I might not.) If you could condense it down to a Principle the way you have the others, it'd be amazing! But you really don't have to. I mean, I just need to recall what it is when it comes into play. :P

Yeah, that's what I think the devs were thinking.

I don't see the two as mutually exclusive.
One Solar might be prone to Herculean rages every time there is stress, another to taking her time off, another might be reacting  differently as WK suggested. The Referee should respect the integrity of the character and make sure the Curse doesn't get away too lightly, and all should go without issues.

What if the Manse is down here? He found the bracer and hearthstone somewhere in the Scavenger Lands, and felt them pulling him to South. He eventually found and claimed the Manse, and after looking around at the area, he thought he could do some good here. It would give him a solid reason for being in this part of the world.

Either or works for me. I think that she might have some difficulty in the Mother River, though, because Mother River is angry, and probably wouldn't appreciate an elemental muscling in on her territory if the water level starts drooping.

Nymphs are pretty minor in the elemental hierarchy, she wouldn't have the power to muscle in. She might be able to provide some lore from here and there .. water elementals, the spirit courts, some First Age trivia .. but she wouldn't do a lot otherwise. I just kinda like the idea of him having a voice in his head, it makes for some entertaining conversations. :)

I'll swap her in as a 1 dot ally, and trade a dot of followers.

Excellent! There's still time before I have to read up on what exactly they do. xD

They look quite interesting. It looks like you can build a complete character almost, with their own skills, abilities and intimacies.

Not sure it would condense to a single principle. Would 'Righteousness' work?

That... makes sense, yes. It also ties with some of the things I've been planning for the chronicle as a whole. >:D

That's fine. :D ... Erm. You do know that elementals cannot dematerialize in 3e, absent some sort of external magic, right? I forget where I've been discussing these things.

Yeah, I saw that and went, "huh, interesting," before my mind looked at the mechanics and sort of went... "uh..."

Not exactly what I meant. I meant as a statement : "I shall live by the code of X group," for instance, would be fine. But it's fine as is, I just need to get it in my memory. :P

Cool. We can go with that then

Bugger. Memories of previous editions strike again :P

Would it work if she was tied to the Manse and Hearthstone? I haven't really read up on the Evocations yet, but it might be something we could work with? She is the spirit of the Manse perhaps?

Not exactly what I meant. I meant as a statement : "I shall live by the code of X group," for instance, would be fine. But it's fine as is, I just need to get it in my memory. :P

Ah, sorry .. my bad :)

Probably something along those lines then. Principle - I will follow the Path of Righteousness.

How does that sound?
