* Damn fine rolls there, Chulanowa. :)

Right? Only downside is personalizing a character who's amazing at everything.  ;D

* Swashbuckler Archetype for rogues is acceptable.

Great! I'll get started on that as soon as I can then.

In the mean time, lets roll some attributes

At 2015-10-16 06:19:31, (uid: 55706) rolls: 4d6k3 Result: 13

Hmm...Not a bad roll in the bunch. Just not terribly exceptional either, at least not in this crowd. Very consistent, with less than 3 points variance. I mean, I'm not perfectly happy with them, but they are good, and just high enough that I'd feel greedy wanting to re-roll them. And they're certainly much better than standard array. I suppose I can't complain.

I'm half tempted to run a Bard or Monk with this array. They have more of a Jack-Of-All-Trades feel to them.

Right? Only downside is personalizing a character who's amazing at everything.  ;D

Seriously! Those are some damn unrealistic rolls there. Lucky bastard!  ;D

I would re-roll, if you have the option. That's certainly worse than standard array, so there's really no downside in trying for better.

For the male... Haven't found a picture that calls out so might just go with a rogue that takes the arcane trickster path.

Or the starting idea of a fey pact warlock that picks up a sprite companion.

How does that human variant work? It says check chap 5 but there's no information there.

I'm very much interested if there is still room? I don't see anybody snagging Rogue, so I'd most likely go that route.

I'm happy to hammer out deets, just wanted to check to make sure I wasn't too late before putting that effort in.

I've permitted two others to reroll when getting not-so-good stats that wound up under standard array. You are also permitted a reroll. As the others, if the next roll doesn't work out, take the standard array.

I'm still accepting Rogues. The only thing I've got a hold on are Warlocks until I finish posting/getting some more sheets to get a better idea of party balance, because of the interest stated in Warlocks.

If it's under standard array I'll grant a reroll if I'm asked about it or it's bought up in a reasonable way--terribad is pretty much assumed a reroll. Someone got two 5s earlier. While I like the challenges of playing a low stat here or there from time to time, two 5s was ghastly.

Just one, though. If the new result isn't liked, standard array it is.

The human variant info is on page 31. The Chapter 5 mention was about that variant being permitted if a GM is allowing feats, which I am. Lyku's human was created as a variant. These are the traits they use: two ability scores increase by 1, gain proficiency in a skill of your choice, and gain one feat of your choice.

These were my rolls.  You can identify my character as the one who is not very good at stuff, haha, at least in this particular group.  I already made the crunch part of the sheet though so I'm not going to reroll.  I will totally take free EXP if you want to give me some though -- it'd be great to start with my Druid already having her Wild Form ability and Druid Circle.  >.>

(Really though I'm fine with the char as is, I don't really care about having awesome stats.  I may finish up the fluff part a bit later today).

You actually beat Chulanowa's rolls! We're getting some freaking amazing rollers around here. I don't think I'd ever seen an array that good without some shenanigans involved (like a guaranteed 18 or something).

Argh! My rolls are good too! I can't complain. But you lotto winners really tempt me to.  :P

Bard or monk would be most welcome--I don't think we have anyone who's selected either of these classes yet.

Heh. I only said I was half-tempted  :P . Actually, on a little more research, she wouldn't make a really good Monk. That's a class that really emphasizes two attributes, and her rolls are good, but not truly exceptional for any two rolls in particular. Bard is still pretty viable, though. I might that a try, if we end up a bit heavy on the Rogue front, and light on the musicians.

But, I'm probably gonna stick with Rogue. I really want to give the Swashbuckler a try, and her stats work just fine for one. Not optimal, but certainly good.

I'm very much interested if there is still room? I don't see anybody snagging Rogue, so I'd most likely go that route.

I'm happy to hammer out deets, just wanted to check to make sure I wasn't too late before putting that effort in.

Actually, I'm likely going Rogue (Swashbuckler), and it looks like Hexed is having one of his characters go Rogue (Arcane Trickster). But there's certainly room for more, if you're so inclined. We don't have many of us, and there's plenty of room for us to be different from one another.

I'm leaning towards monk. Kinda a recreation of a pathfinder character i never really got to work. Second choice is a Bard of some sort 'cause I love me some bards.. possibly druid. I'll see what comes up

Your stats would make for a pretty damn good Monk. Easily enough to max out Wis and Dex within the first ten levels (with an advantageous race, at least) while still having a great Con in the wings. That's about as ideal as Monk can get. You'd actually be able to snag a few feats on top of that, which Monks rarely has the room for, seeing as the need to max out Dex and Wis are so high.  ;D

You'd make a great Bard too, of course, especially a Valor one. They tend to split their stats more to be decent in melee, but you don't have that problem with that array.

Work beat the crap out of me. But hey! 12-hour shifts make for nice paychecks! Here's what my rolls look like.

Yeah, twelve hour shifts without internet are pretty much what I get paid for this week.

Next week it's sixteen hour shifts over the weekend.

----

EDIT: I had seen a couple of things and I had been tempted to play a Fighter who comes from a family of Wizards and either has absolutely no talent at magic but tries to fake it, or becomes an Eldritch Knight (or whatever that fighter variant is) later on after much struggle to try to understand Arcane magic.

I did actually read the PHB and most of the SGA required reading yesterday, though, so at least I'm more prepared than I was the day before.

Not sure there's a need to necessarily have one of each? But I don't think we have any clerics, sorcs, druids, or rangers. I think the only ban for new characters going forward is for warlocks since I think there's been about three?

Make cleric so my paladin can have friends in his religion classes :-) Also paladin specifically isn't that bad as a MAD class to go for with bad scores. You'd think it is, but the ability to wear heavy armor and shield make up for some, plus you can just go with utility spells so the charisma requirement for good spell saves won't be as much of an issue.

Heh. Your first set looks damn near identical to mine, BAMF. Just off by one point, in your favor. Solid result. Might want to consider re-rolling the second one, though, if just because it doesn't seem like it's any better than standard.

And actually, Strangefate seems to be rolling a Druid. We don't have any official Bards or Monks just yet either, just people who are considering, but haven't actually decided. Still, plenty of unclaimed choices available, and room for more of other classes.

@ Sain - MAD in general is much less of a problem in 5e, I'd say. It helps that attributes are capped as they are and that finesse builds are just as viable as power builds. Heavy armor really does help with the Dexterity issues for Paladin. But they still depend on Cha and Str pretty heavily, and having at least a good Con is really helpful. That said, I'd say Afhala's Charisma is plenty high enough. So, aside a possible with a pick up of Resilient (Con) in the future, you'd only really need to worry about getting that Strength up. That should make things much easier for you.  :-)
