Into Space, (Colony ship survival)
« on: August 03, 2015, 10:04:01 PM »
Basic idea inspired by the new game Into The Stars.

Its the future, the Skorn, a hive mind alien race, have been attacking and pushing deeper and deeper into Human space, causing true fears of our annihilation. With our lines slowly being broken time and again, 13 ARKs, massive ships designed to ensure the survival of our race, have been built.

But only 7 of them were ready and able to leave Earth when a Skorn assault fleet attacked the 5th Terran Defense fleet on Mars. Its unknown whether the enemy managed to overtake Earth in its last stand, or if any more ARKs launched after we did. We have lost all coms due to taking a hit after we jumped away.

With us followed one Escort ship, the Yukikaze, an Anti fighter ship with a small fighter complement of its own. (The only thing that could be spared to come with.)  It lasted a week on our journey to a hidden military outpost before the captain sacrificed it by slamming the ship into a Skorn Destroyer that had managed to catch up.

All that's left now is the ARK with a few scavenged supplies and 7 fighters and 3 bombers.

This rp will follow the command staff of the ship as they struggle to help it survive in space and make it to the programmed destination, a hidden Earth like planet with a military presence there, that will be a new home for our Race. Only problem is getting there. The journey will be long and hard, perhaps we might not make it, perhaps Earth has already won the war, maybe we will find new enemies, new friends. Only destiny knows, and our path is already chosen, nothing left to do except to venture onwards. To death or glory.

Those are all the thoughts I have on it at the moment but if anyone wants it feel free to let me know :P it'd be fun seeing things from the Captains chair and such.

Hmm... Kinda like Battlestar Galactica meets the Borg from Star Trek.  Sounds interesting so far.

Im glad to see the interest in it :)

There would likely be times for Away Missions and teams to scout out nearby planets.

So,... in that little movie game demo, clip thingie. They mention losing civilians....in our game, assuming and hoping it gets off the ground, will our civies be awake, eating our food? Or will they be cryo frozen, to be awoken when the awake, naval crew gets them to where they are going?

Either option will have consequence on what ship we drive. If they are awake, we will need a hydroponics bay to grow them food, and air. If they is sleeping, we'll need a lot of power and armour to protect them while they snooze.

Just something to think on, and get this thing back to the top of the list. ;)

We have 10000 thousand civilians aboard, our refugees. Half will be in stasis while the other half are awake and do work around the ship and help keep it going, if you look carefully you can sort of see a city inside of the ship.
