What I'm looking for is a roleplay where my character has had some success but fallen on hard times and become a depressed and somewhat bitter woman. I'm looking for someone who can help my character get out of her funk and get her back to what she used to be, fun loving and perky.
When she was 20 my character was nominated for her first Oscar. People couldn't believe how great she was and she kept it going with string after string of hits. Part of it was luck, part of it was a great agent, and part of it was just who she was but she could do it all. Drama, comedy, action, she even won an Oscar for acting in a science-fiction movie for crying out loud! She was the best young actress to come along in long time.
It couldn't last forever though, what goes up must come down. People who used to heap praise on her started to question if she was a little too odd and out there. The same people whom she had worked with started suggesting roles that were quite frankly bad and ill-suited to her. She started to feel burnt out after such a long stretch of working like a maniac. Parts that would eventually be nominated for Oscars she turned down because she was doing a crappy movie instead. Everything just seemed off. To cope she started to party more and drink and do drugs.
It's been 15 years since she was first nominated for an Oscar and about 8 years since she had really mattered in any Hollywood conversations. She recently switched agents though and he wants to break her out of her funk. She hasn't done anything in years and people are ripe to start remember her again. He just has to break her out of her quasi-depression and really get her going, that should be easy, right?
She was a week away from her event at the Olympics. She had been training her whole life for this moment. The sports books had her favored to win and she was going to bring home the gold for her country. That was until she was practicing and stepped the wrong way. Her ACL was torn and that was it for this Olympic games. She couldn't run and basically had to go home before any of her events.
She ended up being crushed by this, sure she could run again but that was four years away and what if her legs were never the same. Still she tried to keep a perky mood about her, people said that by the time the Olympics came around next time she'd be fine as long as her rehab went well.
It's been two years since the surgery and two years until the Olympics and nothing feels the same. Whenever she tries to run she's so afraid of tearing something again that just can't get going and the thought of running freaks her out so it's easier to stay inside and not run. Her old coach has even given up on her and moved on to someone who he feels has a better chance.
Most people have given up on her but her family has found her a new coach to try and motivate her. They don't even care about the Olympics they just want someone to try and get them their daughter back and anything else is just gravy.
