CHARACTER NAME: Mr. Glass (or just Glass)
REAL NAME: Christopher Cartwright
AGE:27
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
HEIGHT: 6’3
WEIGHT: 170 lbs
AFFILIATION: independent
FACE CLAIM: Stephen Thompson
APPEARANCE:

POWERS/ABILITIES:
Transmutation: Christopher has the ability upon touch to transform any solid material into glass. The larger the item the longer he must be in contact with it or he must move his hand over more of the object. Liquids are harder to affect due to their motion and gases cannot be affected at all.

He is a highly trained martial artist and acrobat but only in so far as to allow him to evade attacks and tumble instead of take a direct blow of any kind. Should he try to strike someone with any part of his body it would probably break so its out of the question.

He has global level skills in business and economics.

WEAKNESSES:
Osteogenesis imperfecta (Brittle bone disease) type 1: Christopher cannot take a hit like a normal person and must avoid doing most things that fall into the “rough and tumble” category. He has broken many bones over his life for one reason or another and as such needs his cane on most occasions. Low impact exercise is best and he cannot partake in many sports or activities. Healing such a break is a long process and very painful.

Albino: Though not a severe case he does have to worry about prolonged sun exposure and he does tend to stick out in a crowd.

HISTORY:
Being the son of Curtis Cartwright was going to be a tall order to fill but when Christopher was born with Osteogenesis imperfecta everyone assumed the apple had fallen to far from the tree. His father who was already horribly over protective minded made it a mission to find a cure for his son going so far as to use experimental drugs. It was one of these that finally triggered his mutation. Unlike most mutants who came into their abilities at puberty Christopher came into them full force at the age of 18 during a gene therapy session. He turned the needle the sheets most of the bed and the doctors first two fingers to glass. His fathers money swept it all under the rug but what he was couldn’t be ignored. Overnight he went from high priced private schools to higher priced private tutors. Ones that signed papers about never talking under penalty of jail time.

Over the next few years it became clear that Christopher wasn’t going to hide what he was. He hadn’t hidden being an albino or his ailment he wasn’t going to hide being a mutant. He is an openly known mutant, a fact that his father and The Cartwright Board of Directors are not very happy about. Still he has kept his nose clean and not flaunted his ability. When it became clear that he would never be allowed to take over the company he stepped aside but kept his 40% share he would inherit upon his fathers death. His current accounts keep him well taken care of allowing him to do pretty much whatever he wants….within reason. Now he wants what he sees on television. To be a mutant…in the open and doing something meaningful. The problem is…how?

PERSONALITY:
Christopher has learned to be humble. As such he is unlike most filthy rich pampered kids. He respects everyone for their skills be it a doorman who remembers his name or a political official who is true to his word. With Christopher what you see is what you get. Sure he keeps things to himself and rarely speaks just to hear himself talk but when he does you can guarantee its not just words. True to his word and easy to go with the flow, he might not be the leader of the group but he is the reason whats happening is happening usually.

EQUIPMENT:
Sonic Cane: Not a power but a piece of equipment. Christopher carries a smoked glass cane at all times. He needs it from time to time to walk but it is not actually glass. It is a space age polymer that is as strong as titanium. Inside is concealed a high frequency emitter that upon activation will shatter glass in a 30ft radius. It cannot be heard with normal human hearing. He can choose to focus the sound instead to one item touched with the tip of the cane. It only works on regular glass not bullet proof glass as it is a laminate. At best it would crack it. It would also work on china, pottery and the like. Should someone have animal or heightened hearing it could be very painful. He had it created when he learned just exactly what his powers could do.

Satellite cell phone, several cars, boats, planes, apartments, houses, and a small island with a bungalow on it and tons of money for whatever he needs.

HISTORY:
The younger daughter of history professor John Grey and his wife Elaine, Jean Grey was 10 years old when her mutant telepathic powers first manifested after experiencing the emotions of a dying friend. Her parents took her to be treated by Professor Charles Xavier While Xavier treated Jean he also used her to fine tune his Cerebro machine. When Xavier introduced young Jean to the astral plane a part of her mind manifested as a Phoenix raptor and touched the mind of Scott Summers in the orphanage. Later, Xavier erected psychic shields in Jean’s mind to prevent her from using her telepathic powers until she was mature enough to control them.

Jean was a founding member of Xavier’s team of mutant trainees the X-Men as Marvel Girl. Upon a mission in outer space Jean was noticed by the Phoenix Force which took note of her unlimited potential. At this moment Jean had a vision of becoming the Phoenix but the vision faded from her memory as it ended. She soon fell in love with fellow student Scott Summers, and later would develop a strong attraction towards one of the team’s new recruits, the feral Wolverine.

After Jean and the X-Men defeated scientist Stephen Lang and his robotic Sentinels on his space station, the heroes escaped back to Earth in a shuttle through a lethal solar radiation storm. Dying from radiation poisoning, Jean was saved by the cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force who created a duplicate body complete with memories and personality, absorbed a portion of her consciousness and cast her into suspended animation in a strange cocoon at the bottom of Jamaica Bay.

For months the Phoenix believed itself to be the real Jean and saved the universe by healing the M’Kraan Crystal. Mental manipulation by Mastermind caused Phoenix to go insane and become Dark Phoenix. Ultimately, the portion of Jean’s consciousness within Phoenix resurfaced, causing it to commit suicide. This portion of Jean Grey’s consciousness then journeyed to the afterlife to meet a manifestation of Death. Death explained the Phoenix Force to Jean, who now wore a White Phoenix costume, before this portion of her consciousness and residual Phoenix energy was sent to Jean’s original body in the cocoon, where it was rejected, and then to her clone, Madelyne Pryor.

Eventually, Jean was rescued from her stasis and, with the other original X-Men, formed a new team, X-Factor. Madelyne Pryor later died in a confrontation with Jean Grey in which Jean absorbed Madelyne’s and Phoenix’s personalities and memories and a spark of the Phoenix energy. While in battle with a Celestial on an alien world, Jean expelled this spark of energy and the personalities she had absorbed but kept faint impressions of their memories.

Now she’s back with the X-men and back to herself, trying to repair her relationship with Cyclopes as well as grow accustomed to see her supposed daughter Rachel Gray and accepting the fact that perhaps her future isn’t as pre-ordained as it seems.
PERSONALITY: Jean Grey is all about passion. She is passionate about her abilities, her friends and the caused the X-men fight for. She is extraordinarily empathetic, kind, and emotional to a fault at times. It had been said she embodies the compassion the X-Men stand for, reaching out to those who are scared or confused with little regards to her own well-being.
EQUIPMENT: Standard X-Men gear.
KNOWN ENEMIES: All known enemies of the X-Men and X-Factor.

Can someone point me in the right direction as far as the outline for the posts go? I know I saw it but I can't find it and I would like to work on my post.

Cassandra LeMay

I don't think we have an official post header outline, if that's what you mean. For character profiles there's something in the approved characters thread.

Works even better (IMO) if you use [float=left][img padding=5] at the start of the first line. The 'padding' places a little distance between the text and image. Looks a little better that way.

CHARACTER NAME: Bishop
REAL NAME: Lucas Bishop
AGE: 26
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
HEIGHT: 6'6
WEIGHT: 275lbs
AFFILIATION: X-Men, Thieves Guild, Marauders
FACE CLAIM: Michael Jai White
APPEARANCE:

Bishop is a mountain of a man, and standing at 6'6, one of the tallest of the X-Men. He's 275lbs of solid muscle, not only because of his powers, but a life time of hard living, surviving, and fighting. He's a physical specimen. He has sharp brown eyes, although they tend to glow purple more often than not. He has an "M" branded over his right eye for Mutant.

POWERS/ABILITIES:

Energy Manipulation - Bishop can absorb any of energy, including magic and psionic, directed toward him. The nature of his powers makes it difficult to damage him with any sort of attack, while also enabling him to work well with any energy-using teammates. Bishop can also store absorbed energy within his personal reserves, whereupon the energy increases his strength, speed, stamina and recuperative abilities, as well as affording him a measure of invulnerability.

The upper limits of his ability to enhance his own physical abilities with absorbed energy is not exactly known but is well into the level of being super human. He is able to increase his physical attributes in a manner similar to Sebastian Shaw and Maverick. The energy that Bishop’s body generates is a unique form that is regularly discharged as purplish hued concussive blasts, but with concentration and effort can be converted to thermal or explosive blasts; he usually just sticks with the concussion beams though for ease of use.

It’s easiest to discharge the energy through his arms or fingers, but he has the ability to expel energy from his eyes, his mouth, or in an Omni-directional explosive type blast at the cost of draining all of his current energy. When absorbing energy from an outside source, Bishop can  can send it back in the same form he absorbed it in with the energy polarized. So beyond a return attack adding roughly 2x the force and power to the blast, Bishop is even able to use this method of attack to harm people usually immune to their own powers. This power is passive, allowing Bishop to absorb energy at all times.

Healing Factor - – By expending stored energy, Bishop can speed up his body's recuperative processes a great deal. He won’t be regrowing limbs or large portions of flesh; he’s not Wolverine or anything like that. However, he is able to mend broken bones, heal bruises, and repair things like puncture wounds much faster than a human.

Temporal-Spatial Awareness - A power he seems to have inherited from his as of now unknown Great Grandfather Gateway, as well as having absorbed amounts of chronal energy when traveling back through time; Bishop always knows what time it is in accordance to his location, and he also knows his exact location at any time, even when asleep.

Energy Enhanced Attributes - At his normal levels, Bishop isn’t that much more impressive than a human in peak physical condition, but he is past that limit, if only slightly. He can comfortably bench around 550lbs, run a little under 30mph for short periods of time, things like that. Depending on the strength of an outside charge though, his strength has increased from as little to a hundred or so pounds above average, to well into the tons range where even people with enhanced durability have been staggered by blows from him. His durability is also augmented, which again dependent on the charge can be barely noticeable, or to near invulnerability. Speed and reflexes are likely supercharged, and a good charge has given Bishop the ability to dodge and even snatch bullets out of the air mid-flight.

SKILLS:

Bishop is a trained police officer, skilled in the homicide branch. Bishop has also had many years of armed and unarmed combat training; it has made him a devastating unarmed combatant, and a superb marksman with firearms, both from his own time, some of which he brought with him from the future when he originally arrived in our present, and also both heavy duty military and conventional guns and weapons of the present time.

WEAKNESSES: Some energy types are more difficult to absorb than others. Bishop can be overloaded by trying to absorb too much energy, though his upper limits are unknown, even to himself. Although he can absorb psionic energy from blasts or telekinetic attacks, Bishop is not immune to telepathic attacks, but his power sustains him and helps him to slow them down.

HISTORY: The mutant known only as Bishop was born in the 21st Century A.D. of alternate timeline Earth-1191 in which the mutant-hunting robots called the Sentinels had taken control of North America. In this timeline, Professor Charles Xavier and most of the members of the mutant team he founded, the X-Men, were killed by the Sentinels. Mutants were killed or were imprisoned within "mutant relocation camps."

Bishop and his sister Shard were both born in one of the "mutant relocation camps." Like other mutants they were branded with "M" tattoos over their right eyes for identification.

Eventually, "normal" human beings and mutants joined forces and overthrew the Sentinels in the "Summers Rebellion." However, "normal" humans still resisted coexistence with mutants, and radical terrorist groups of mutants, such as the Exhumes, made war on "normal" humans.

One of the veterans of the Summers Rebellion, a mutant named Hecat'e, stated that it was unacceptable for humans to hunt down criminal mutants. Therefore, she said mutants should police themselves. Hence, Hecat'e and other mutant veterans of the Summers Rebellion formed the Xavier Security Enforcers. The X.S.E was named after Charles Xavier in honor of his dream of peaceful coexistence between mutants and "normal" humans. Hecat'e became the X.S.E's commanding officer.

Since their parents had apparently died, Bishop and Shard lived with their grandmother, who was herself a mutant, until she died. Their grandmother told them stories about the heroism of the X-Men and instructed them to follow Xavier's dream of peace between mutants and the rest of humanity.

One day, when Bishop and Shard were both still children, two X.S.E members were pursuing Virago, a member of the Exhumes, a radical group of mutants who hated "normal" humans. When Virago took Shard as a hostage, Bishop leaped onto Virago's back, making her release his sister. Infuriated, Virago was about to murder Bishop when Sureshot shot her dead. Until then, Bishop had regarded the X.S.E as his enemies and the Exhumes as heroes, but from then onward he wanted to join the X.S.E.

Bishop, Shard, and their grandmother's friend Hancock were attacked by criminal mutants called Billboy and Halftrack. The two criminals killed Hancock and were about to murder Shard. Bishop tried to save Shard, but it was two members of the X.S.E, Amazon and Recoil, who stopped Billboy and Halftrack.

Impressed by Bishop, Amazon and Recoil offered Bishop a position in the X.S.E. Bishop accepted on the condition that Shard be accepted in the X.S.E as well. By now Bishop's own superhuman power had manifested itself. Thus Bishop and Shard became cadets at the X.S.E Academy under Hecat'e's supervision. Among the other members of their class was Bishop's future enemy, Trevor Fitzroy.

Eventually, Bishop and Shard became officers of the X.S.E. Shard, however, became Bishop's commanding officer. Bishop contented himself with a lower rank so that he could work the streets alongside his friends and fellow X.S.E officers, Malcolm and Randall.

Some time after taking command of her own squad in the X.S.E., Shard fell victim to an ambush - set up by her criminal boyfriend Trevor Fitzroy - by the creatures known as Emplates. Turned into one of them, Shard was forced to kill mutants to sup their energy to survive. In a subsequent encounter with the X.S.E., Bishop was forced to kill his own sister rather than let her live as the monster she had become. Shard's essence was transferred into a holographic matrix projector that Bishop wore on his wrist.

Around this time Bishop discovered remnants of the X-Men: A garbled message from Jean Grey warning about a traitor. Bishop confronted the only known survivor who called himself the Witness. Bishop did not trust him and wondered if he was the traitor.

Fitzroy eventually turned criminal and was imprisoned. He broke free and escaped with other mutant criminals back through a time portal to the X-Men's own time. Bishop, Malcolm, and Randall followed, even though they were aware they had no means to return to their own time. The three eventually found and killed the criminals known as the 'Lifers', but Malcolm and Randall were killed and Bishop himself was severely wounded. He was taken to the Institute to recover. During the fight that followed, Bishop defeated Fitzroy moments before he could complete his quest.

While his methods initially caused conflict with Storm, not to mention his accusations towards Gambit, Bishop joined the X-Men. He tended to act brashly, such as shooting through walls rather than using the door when an intruder alarm sounded.

PERSONALITY:

Bishop is a man who wears his emotion on his sleeve, that’s right, emotion, singular. Most of the time the only emotion he exhibits is a mix of grumpiness and being pissed off. That’s not to say he doesn’t have any other emotions, it’s just saying that it’s pretty easy to gauge his mood on any given day. He also tends to be a strict, no-nonsense type of person who doesn’t take shit from anybody regardless of who they are or what they can do. Bishop does have a brighter side though, and from time to time he can be found joking and laughing with people who’ve earned his trust and he considers friends.

Bishop grew up in a Mutant Detention Camp; he was treated more like cattle than a person, and because of it he's grown to act according to that harsh treatment. He has strong standards, and an even stronger moral code, but he knows from personal experience that sometimes bad things have to be done in order for things to turn out right; he may not like making a decision like that, but he will if he has to.

Being at Cop for so long, and then coming to Xavier's has instilled a sense of selflessness in Lucas, a sense so strong that he’ll throw himself in front of a car to save a complete stranger without a second thought. He’s also honorable, or as honorable as a person can be in this day and age. He doesn’t believe in kicking a person while they’re down or cheating if he can help it; although that doesn’t mean he won’t fight dirty if it’ll help. He has a few anger management problems that he’s never been able to get over, but he has enough discipline to keep them in check most of the time.

EQUIPMENT:

X.S.E Arsenal - When Bishop followed Fitzroy into the past, he brought a small arsenal of X.S.E issue weapons with him. The arsenal contains several energy firearms, all able to be recharged with Bishop's own energy.

HUD Glasses - A pair of sunglasses that feed Bishop information as well as let him communicate with members of the X-Men after synching them to this time and X-Men's database.

I don't think he was the problem, as MJW is one of this era's kung-fu/action movie super stars. It was that the second season of MK was so cluttered and rushed. They had Jax/Kano/Sonya's origin story, with Jax and Kano not getting their cybernetics yet. They had the cyber ninjas. Had Outworld. A new Baraka and the Tarkatans, Kenji, Ermac, etc... They were mixing realistic and fantasy in ways that just felt really forced.

I still enjoyed it, but the entire thing could have been done better.

And since Bishop and Betsy will get along fine, he might stroll on down to the Danger Room. :)

#167
CHARACTER NAME: Sunpyre
REAL NAME: Leyu Yoshida
AGE: 19
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Lesbian
HEIGHT: 5' 7"
WEIGHT: 125 lbs.
AFFILIATION: Independent
FACE CLAIM: Yuna Ito

APPEARANCE:

POWERS/ABILITIES:
Solar Flare: Leyu's mutant powers enable her to absorb solar and other radiation to generate the process of ionized matter (usually air) through a mentally-triggered unknown biochemical process so that it is converted to plasma, the superheated state of matter. Plasma is the state in which matter making up the sun exists; hence, Sunpyre refers to her projecting "solar fire". Hence she can sheath her body in flame.

Flight: She can use her powers to create super-heated air currents which push her forward through the air, enabling her to fly. Sometimes this super-heated air is visible as a trail of flame behind Sunpyre. The upper limit to the speed Sunpyre can achieve in flight is not yet known, although it is known to be greater than that of the Angel, who can reach 150 miles per hour.

Plasma Blasts: She also has the ability to project the flames she generates as powerful blasts of energy.

Plasma Emanation: Sunpyre can generate plasma temperatures which match those that can be generated by the Human Torch, reaching about 1,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit at maximum level. She can also use her power in a massive blast similar to Johnny Storm's "Nova Burst". However, Leyu has much more control over the area of effect, enough to where one person may feel like they have been sunbathing all day to total incineration of another target.

Heat Signature Sense: Ability to sense beings by the heat signature that they give off.

Plasma Shield: Ability to manipulate the plasma around her to form an aura that can melt incoming bullets are stave off other attacks.

Solar Shielding Psi-field: She is protected from the radiation she emits by a short-range psionic force field which automatically comes into being whenever air friction, and also prevents excessive amounts of light from the plasma from reaching her eyes so as to blind or damage them. Sunpyre's body emits a protective field whenever she uses her powers. However, it is speculated that she can generate power in excess of her natural protection.

Abilities:
•   Languages: As with most well-educated children of Japan, Leyu is multi-lingual. Japanese is her native tongue, but she is also quite fluent in both spoken and written English.

•   Combat: Leyu is a moderately skilled combatant. She has taken several years of karate, as expected by her family. And she has learned how to use her powers to fight. Of course, she has nowhere near the experience of her brother, but that's part of the problem, isn't it?

•   Art: Leyu is moderately skilled in several traditional Japanese art forms, including painting, pottery, bonsai, flower arrangement, and calligraphy. These were expected of her, and she learned how. She is not exceptional at any of them.

WEAKNESSES:
Without using her powers Leyu is simply mortal… She has no defenses against telepaths either.

HISTORY:

Leyu is Shiro Yoshida's younger sister. It seems that their father Saburo remarried after the death of Shiro's mother. At some unknown time it was revealed that Leyu possessed similar mutant powers. She took the identity of Sunpyre in her own mind at least as her family looked upon her brother more favorably. The need to prove herself drove her to swipe Sunfire’s costume a couple of times to try and prove herself, but that didn’t go as planed. When her father found out he voiced his displeasure and claimed that no matter how hard she tried, Leyu could never measure up to her brother.

It was also around this time when she came to the conclusion that she was a lesbian. Leyu had suspected this as men just never did anything for her, but a failed date finally confermed it. Knowing how her family would react Leyu repressed it and went about her days trying to be the daughter they wanted. She happened to find out though that one of her classmates was gay as well, so they started a relationship. This eased Leyu’s mind somewhat as she had someone, that she could be herself with.

As everything does this came to an end in a fight between her and her parents. Leyu came out and told them that she was lesbian. Her family rejected her and all but formerly disowned her and her lover rejected Leyu as well as the girl had no plans on ever coming out. With nowhere to go now Leyu heads for the United States, where she meets someone that brings a change to her life.

PERSONALITY:

•   Inferiority Complex: Leyu has spent her entire life with it drilled into her that she just can't measure up. Second born, and a daughter at that, she could never compare to her brother, the great hero of the family and of the Japanese people. Nothing she did was ever good enough to earn the sort of praise that seemed to be her brother's birthright for the asking. She has a major chip on her shoulder about this. In the past, this has caused her to emulate her brother in her heroic persona, believing she needs to be harder and haughtier, to demand the respect she never seems to get from the people most important to her. Naturally, that hasn't worked out very well; even people outside the family largely view Sunpyre as an arrogant and redundant follow-on to Sunfire.

•   Eager to Please: Desperate for acceptance and positive feedback in her life, Leyu has always been eager to please those in authority over her, doing whatever they demanded, no matter how unreasonable. Even when Leyu is rebelling against their authority, part of her is desperately looking for their acceptance and praise. If someone in authority were to actually give her that kind of positive feedback, it could very well change her life.

•   Struggling Conformist: The only way to avoid her parents' glowering displeasure for most of her life has been to conform to the ideals they demanded of her, as a very traditional Japanese family. She was to be a polite, well-behaved, proper and traditional Japanese girl, obedient to her family, accomplished academically without ever challenging the family's patriarchs. She has always sought to obey this ideal, even hiding her sexuality over time for fear of their rejection and displeasure. And honestly having faced that displeasure and rejection, Leyu is struggling just to stay mentally afloat. She will likely revert back to conformist, obedient behaviors in hopes of making a new place for herself, even as part of her longs - begs - to rebel and forge her own path, everyone else's rules be damned.

•   Hidden Temper: Leyu has quite the temper, though she has spent most of her life keeping it under very rigid check, almost never letting it out. Her few forays in her costumed persona as Sunpyre were really her only outlets for her temper, and they were far between. With the rejections she has faced, Leyu's temper is that much stronger, and she is struggling that much harder to keep it bottled up. That temper pushed her to finally confess to her family, and look how that turned out!

•   Seeking Answers: Leyu has a very curious mind, always looking for answers. She wants to understand why it is that her father could never love her the way he did Shiro. She wants to understand why it is she too was born with the powers Shiro has mastered and embodied to the Japanese people. She wants to understand why it is she was born lesbian, because she is sure she would never have chosen this for herself. All of this fuels her scientific efforts, and her life.

•   Seeking Acceptance / Validation: What Leyu wants most in this world is to be accepted for who she is, to have her sense of self and her choices validated by others. If she could find that, it would literally change her life.

CHARACTER NAME: Capacitor
REAL NAME: Rachel Bright
AGE: 22
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Lesbian, possibly bi-curious.
HEIGHT: 5' 6"
WEIGHT: 130 lbs
AFFILIATION: X-Men
FACE CLAIM: Kim Petras

APPEARANCE:

Rachel is a tall girl with long golden hair and golden eyes, that glow bright when she gets energized. She also hardly has a pound of fat on her body. She likes to look girly, but casual, and often carries a guitar around. In combat, she wears the trademark yellow and blue X-Men uniform, and carries a deadly staff.

POWERS:

  • Rachel constantly generates and stores the same kind of photonic energy used by Ms. Marvel; contrary to her, though, she can't absorb energy from the outside. While she accumulates energy, her eyes start to glow bright gold, and that can be used as a visual indicator of her reserves. Over the past few years, the amount of energy Rachel can store has slowly been increasing, as well as her control on its release, and while there must be some upper limit to her capabilities she doesn't seem to have reached it yet.
  • Capacitor's energized body gives her a boost to toughness and strength proportionate to her current reserves. Near full charge, she's boosted to almost brick-level power.
  • Capacitor can also discharge energy in the outside environment in different ways; as bolts of golden lightning, as a radial discharge, or directly burn whatever she's touching. She has good control on her lightning attacks and they only consume a modicum of energy, but her radial and whole-body bursts are very energy-consuming.

ABILITIES: Rachel is a proficient guitar player. She also received Martial Arts training and she can fight proficiently with her staff as well as unarmed, taking full advantage of her enhanced strength. She was a good student with decent grades, and is on the smart side.

WEAKNESSES:

  • Capacitor generates energy through metabolism, meaning all her energy production relies on food. Rachel needs to eat much more than a regular human to keep up with her energy generation capabilities. While she likes to joke that she "doesn't need to worry about getting fat," she is actually at a serious risk of starvation and death if deprived of food for even a day.
  • Capacitor can only store so much energy before overloading. When she goes over her threshold, she explosively and uncontrollably discharges her energy in a single radial blast. While Rachel has learned to manage her reserves, and very rarely overloads these days, this happened often in the first months following her powers manifesting, when she had little understanding of them and her storage capabilities were small. When she's getting close to her maximum energy storing capability her skin starts to itch uncomfortably.

HISTORY:

Rachel was born Richard Bright in London, her father is a construction worker and her mother a shop clerk. She has two older siblings, Kate (26) and Gregory (29). As a kid, Richard was quiet and prone to daydreaming, he always felt he was different from other people his age but he couldn't understand why.

The first clues that Richard wasn't meant to be a boy came in his late childhood, when he always stuck with girls and would often follow them around and play with them rather than with boys, even when they played decidedly feminine games. His parents didn't care much for what they considered "quirks" as long as their son kept having good grades at school. Richard had grown particularly fond of his sister Kate, taking her as a role model, admiring her looks and clothes, and when he started to develop during puberty Richard realized he hated the way his body was changing, and that he wanted to be a girl.

Richard had always been smart, and did his research, finding out there were people who felt just like him and that there was a way for him to become a girl – at least mostly.
He confessed his feelings to Kate, who was very supportive and helped him develop his feminine side. In a few months, Richard didn't exist anymore for Kate, having grown into a little sister, Rachel. Richard became a staple part of Kate's circle of friends, who probably suspected there was something about his sexuality he wasn't telling. When they were home alone, Rachel would borrow clothes from her sister and she would help her learn how to look her best as a girl.

Rachel wasn't sure about how to tell the rest of her family about her condition, because she was sure they wouldn't understand her; since her parents were quite conservative and her older brother was going through a "tough guy" phase. Fate conspired against her, however, as her parents one day caught her dressed up in Kate's clothes.
Rachel tried to explain her condition to her family, telling them she was unhappy in a boy's body and Rachel was in fact her real self, but her parents didn't want anything to do with it. They punished "Richard" harshly and ordered him never to dress up in girl's clothes again.

Even worse, Gregory had caught wind of the news, and started to mercilessly pick on Rachel despite Kate's attempts to protect her, going as far as spreading rumors about his sibling at their school.
Rachel became the laughing stock of the school, and she retreated even deeper into her books, comics and videogames as a mean to escape reality. Her parents would have preferred she took up sports, but they still considered her nerd side boyish enough.

Things, however, were going to get even worse. Rachel started to feel ill. Specifically, she developed an itch that, no matter what, wouldn't go away. The itch grew worse and worse over a few days, and she was just coming back from a visit at her doctor when she ran into one of the bullies from school. He started insulting her, then punched her in the face – and at that moment, Rachel discharged a blast of golden energy all around her.

In spite of the fireworks, the blast wasn't powerful enough to seriously injure the bully, that however ran away screaming "mutant". Soon, a crowd had gathered and the police had taken Rachel in for interrogation.
Fortunately for her, her discharge had triggered a ping on Xavier's Cerebro machine, and the X-Men had sent someone to pick her up. Rachel's parents, still upset and horrified about Rachel's powers, were more than happy to get rid of their twice-freakish kid.

Rachel was very hurt by how quickly her parents had sent her to a strange new school, not to mention worried and horrified about her newfound powers. However, as sad and confused as she was, she was happy to find out that, at Xavier's, she could enlist as a girl and begin her hormone therapy.

Rachel aced her way through school, learning to control her powers at the same time, and when she graduated Professor Xavier offered her a spot in his X-Men, as well as a position as a music teacher at his school.

PERSONALITY:

Rachel used to be quite depressed and introverted. Her friends and her transition helped her coming out of her shell and today she is friendly and determined to live her life to the fullest. She's the kind of person that will always voice her opinion and always sticks with the underdog. The thing that she likes the least about being an X-Men, is that protecting mutants leaves the X-Men little time to protect everyone else in need.
With friends, she is loyal, warm, and caring.
Rachel still feels haunted by her past experiences, though, and she reacts poorly to discrimination and aggressive behaviors. Sometimes she still envies pretty girls, and can act bitchy towards them, and she's oversensitive about her looks.
Rachel has had a crush on Jean Grey ever since arriving to Xavier's.

Likes: Playing guitar, clothes, comics, reading, cats, smart people who think outside the box.

Dislikes: Discriminatory people, sports, nosy people, guys who can't take the hint when she's not interested, dogs - she finds them gross.

Quirks:  She insists on X-Men girls being called 'X-Women' for gender equality.

EQUIPMENT: A specially reinforced Bo staff and a tailor made jumpsuit that resist her energy blasts.

KNOWN ENEMIES: none yet.

Disclaimer: I'm not the GM, so this is all just personal opinion, but... Isn't her background slightly problematic, in so far as it would mean she has already established relationships with most of the X-Men? Compared to the relationships between the canon characters (which can draw on the comics canon as a basis) Rachel's relationships with many characters might either feel rather... 'flat', or you'd have to work out previous history with a lot of players in some detail.

Also, I am not sure if the music teacher detail fits the background. If our setting was based on the movies, sure, but I don't think Xavier's did all that much mundane teaching during the time leading up to current in-game events (not to mention the school being destroyed a couple times over the years).

Would it perhaps be more practical to say she left Xavier's after finishing high school (and her mutant training) to attend college somewhere? She could have been away from the school for 2 or 3 years and decide to return to the school after finishing college (or be drawn into the Sentinel attack in New York). As people change over the years that would leave room to establish some relationships with other characters as she gets reaquainted with them and avoid the question where she was during all the missions the X-Men had over the recent past. Or if not college, perhaps she decided to be more active in the LGBT community than her position as an X-Woman would have allowed?

The suggestion is not bad... I can see her taking college level music courses.
So, how does the approval process work?

I don't think we have anything that approaches a formal process. I'd  probably wait about a day or so and if you haven't heard anything by then, gently point our GM (loislanekent) in the direction of your post.

I'm batting around an idea for an OC and have a question? Has the status of the Hellfire Club been established? Oops, somehow missed that line in the first post about it being disbanded. I do wonder if the social club would still exist even if the Inner Circle doesn't.

Well, he did employ a dance instructor for a long time.
