Remy Etienne LeBeauAGE:
X-Men, Thieves Guild, MaraudersFACE CLAIM:
Gambit is about 6'2, 190lbs. He works out all the time so you can see how muscled he is; he's more of a racer than bodybuilder when it comes to body type. He's incredibly handsome and has wooed women just by looking at them before. He has an almost always present scruff on his face, like a 5 o'clock shadow that won't go away; it works for his charm though. His eyes are unique, in that his sclera(white part of the eye) is black, while his irises are a vibrant, glowing red. He's had that mutation since he was born, and it was the reason he was abandoned as an infant.POWERS/ABILITIES:Molecular Acceleration -
Remy has the power to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy thus “charging” that item with explosive results. He prefers to charge smaller objects, such as his ever-present playing cards, as the time required to charge them is greatly reduced and they are much easier for him to throw. The only real limitation to this ability is the time required to charge the object. The larger it is the more time it takes. He can charge a rock as big as a small house in the matter of seconds. Most charging takes place through direct skin contact. The power of his explosions is dependent on the mass of the object he is charging, for example, a charged playing card explodes with the force of a grenade. Gambit can also use his powers to accelerate an object's kinetic energy instead of converting its potential energy, for example, he can charge his bo staff with enough power to level a house.Enhanced Agility -
Gambit's ability to tap energy also grants him superhuman agility and dexterity which gives him an added edge he has used to his advantage by developing a unique acrobatic fighting style. Gambit is so fast he can easily block automatic gunfire with his staff and has avoided being hit by a room full of lasers all pointed at him.Static Interference -
Creates natural mental static, because of the charged potential energy always in his body, that shields his mind from intrusion by telepaths. Can increase the effect by holding a charged object near his head. Although reportedly uncomfortable for the parties involved, this shield does not totally prevent telepathic invasion.Hypnotic Charm -
Subliminal psionic talent channeled through his voice that allows a subtle influence over any sentient mind. This power allows Gambit to compel others to believe what he says and agree with anything he suggests. More powerful minds have proven immune to Gambit's charm, and people who are consciously aware of what he's doing can shake off the effects.SKILLS: Master Thief -
Gambit was groomed to take over the Thieve's Guild back in Louisiana since he was taken in as a newborn. He was literally raised around thieves and criminals. His training was intensive and due to years and years of it, Gambit is one of the best thieves in the world, even without his powers. He can sneak into practically anywhere, bypass or disable any type of security system, etc... Simply put, if Gambit can't find it, steal it, or break into somewhere...it can't be done.Martial Arts Expert -
His training also included combat, and Gambit has mastered the French form of Savate(French Kickboxing) as well as Bojutsu(using a staff in combat). He knows many more styles, but those two are his true area of expertise, and his powers make him even more formidable in a fight. Expert Marksman -
As evidenced by his choice of projectile(throwing cards), Gambit is a master at hitting his target, whether it's with a gun or cards or knives. If it can be used as a projectile, chances are he's good at using it.Multilingual -
Gambit is fluent in both English, and Cajun French. He speaks, reads, and writes several other languages as well.WEAKNESSES:
Due to the extreme potential of his powers, for a time Gambit couldn't control them. So he had Sinister remove a portion of his brain. Because of this his powers are weakened and he can't charge anything without physical contact. Despite his powers, he's not much more durable than a normal person, so pretty much anything that can kill a normal person can kill him as well.HISTORY:
Remy LeBeau is a mutant who was trained to be the leader of the Thieves Guild. Abandoned at birth due to his burning red eyes, the child who would one day become Remy LeBeau was kidnapped from his hospital ward by members of the New Orleans Thieves Guild who referred to the child as "le diable blanc" - the white devil. They believed he was the child that had been prophesied to unite the warring Guilds. Soon after, Remy was placed in the care of a gang of street thieves who raised the child and taught him the ways of thievery.
Later, when he was around ten years old, Remy attempted to pick the pocket of Jean-Luc LeBeau, then-patriarch of the Thieves' Guild. Jean-Luc took the boy in off the streets and adopted him into his own family. As part of a peace pact between the Thieves’ Guild and their rivals, the Assassin’s Guild, a marriage was arranged between Remy and Bella Donna Boudreaux, the granddaughter of the head of the Assassins Guild. However, Bella Donna's brother Julien objected to the marriage and challenged Gambit to a duel. Remy killed Julien in self-defense, but was excommunicated and banished from New Orleans in an attempt to maintain the non-aggression pact between the two guilds.
Remy wandered the world as he plied his skills as a master thief, aided by his mutant power to charge objects with explosive energy. He employed playing cards he charged with kinetic energy as his trademark weapon. At one point Remy had approached the master geneticist Mr. Sinister for help in controlling his powers. Sinister removed some of Remy's brain tissue to reduce his power levels, thus affording him a greater degree of control.
As a result, Remy was now in the geneticist's debt, and Sinister subsequently charged the thief with assembling the team of assassins called the Marauders. Remy did not realize that Sinister would employ the Marauders to massacre the underground mutant community known as the Morlocks. Seeing the horrific results of his actions, Remy attempted to stop the massacre but was almost killed by the Marauder named Sabretooth. However, he did manage to save one young Morlock girl who would one day grow up to become the X-Man named Marrow.
Eventually, Remy encountered Storm, a member of the outlaw team of mutant adventurers known as the X-Men. Storm had been transformed into an amnesiac child who had turned to theft as a means to survive. Remy helped her escape her enemy, the malevolent psionic entity known as the Shadow King, and they became partners. Later, when the X-Men's founder Professor Charles Xavier returned from a long period of traveling in outer space, Storm sponsored Remy's admission into the X-Men.
Remy soon fell in love with his fellow X-Man, Rogue, blessed and cursed with the ability to absorb other mutants' thoughts and abilities through skin-on-skin contact. The feeling was mutual, but the two soulmates were condemned never to touch.
Despite his loyalty to the X-Men, Gambit still spends lots of time with the Thieve's Guild as it's second in-command and interim leader when Gambit's adopted father Jean-Luc is unable to give orders for whatever reason.PERSONALITY:
Gambit is an incurable flirt and will hit on practically anyone provided they are 1) female, and b) attractive. Meet those two requirements and chances are at some point the Cajun will try and chat you up. Due to being trained by the Thieve's Guild, Gambit is a somewhat secretive individual.
He plays his cards close to his chest almost always, and it's rare that anyone, even Rogue knows exactly what it is he wants or what his motivations are. Despite that behavior, he is loyal to a fault, and will follow his friends into the depths of Hell even if it's not expected of him.
He's cocky and confident almost to the point of arrogance it seems, and while he truly does believe in how amazing he is. However a good thief knows when to cut and run. He has no problem leaving a battle because it can't be won, and he'll argue with the others to get them to realize the same thing.EQUIPMENT:Bo Staff -
Gambit's prized possession is a collapsible bo staff made of an unknown metal that is not only durable enough to take all the punishment in the line of duty, but to get charged with Gambit's energy and survive the explosion.Playing Cards -
Gambit has a seemingly endless supply of playing cards that are used as his primary weapons. Armor -
Gambit's uniform is armored in several places, so he can take a bit more of a beating than normal.Tool Kit -
No master thief is ever without his tool kit, which holds all that he'd need to break into a place at any given time. His is usually kept in his trench coat. KNOWN ENEMIES:
Belladonna Boudreax(sometimes), Assassin's Guild, Mr. Sinister, Marauders, etc...
