Call of Cthulhu
« on: October 20, 2008, 08:10:28 AM »
Hey everyone.

I know a bit ago, I had a group of people interested in a possible Call of Cthulhu game on here.  Well, I don't have internet in my place yet but I do have it at school for now which means I can perhaps get it off the ground.  If you were interested and sent me in a character and are still interested then please get a hold of me here or on messages.  The plan was for 1920s London though it can be changed as well if enough people decide they want something else.

Sorry again for the delay!

Your more then welcome to join.  What I need is a COC character from you for 1920s London.  Your character does not have to be British though.
Only other things I would need is maybe a shiort what you would like and not like from the game.  Also, 3 contacts for your character.  These can be a friend, an enemy, a loved one..anything.  You cna give me as little as a name and occupation or a detailed description for each one.  I might not use any of them or I might use some or even all.  They are just there to avoid the typical "A relative you have never heard of just sent you a letter asking for help".

This is most certainly of interest.

Do be so kind as to reserve a space for me.

I would be inclined to play an obsessive-compulsive watchmaker who has been lured by his family's decrepitude into taking care of ailing relatives, and harbors a decidedly seedy past of whoring and ill deeds on the riverfront.

This, or a once-wealthy Singhalese big game hunter who has run up precipitous debts with unsavory celestials in East End gaming parlors, and who is haunted by the prospect of descending into the poverty he abandoned his family back in India to.

Which works better?

I'm not sure if this is a system game but I adore Lovecraft - maybe I could be a horror writer and writer in books on topics that are so crazy people think they are fiction.

And I might lose it and end up writing passages from the Necronomicon in a common read ,dime novel, if she goes off the deep end. How best than to go out and see these horrors to best write about them. Someone with a eclectic education and monied background a bit although not so much now.

One contact might be her publisher - I could see them going we have this odd story that might make a nice dime novel could you go there and check it out. Here's an advance check.

If its a system game I will need help I played the Chaosium system awhile ago but again game books are pricey I tend not to waste money on them.

Call of Cthulhu, Ruby.  Its Chaosium, but they have quick-start rules for free.

I forgot to emntion I'm using a point buy system for the stats (Str, App Pow and so on).  You have 100 points to buy on a 1 for 1 basis.

Vandal: You can play whichever you want too as both will be helpful.  The idea I am currently working on though may start with the investigators being asked to go abroad to help search for an ancient hidden structure.  Either character would work if they would have a reason to go, the big game hunter probaly working the best.

Ruby: I like the idea of a writer of pulp novels/weird tales.  One thing I plan on doing is if anyone ever gains any insanites, I will pm them secretly and it will be up to them to roleplay it.

I do like both of your concepts though (Vandal's two and Ruby's).  I am hoping to possibly get it rolling early next week at the latest so send me the character sheets/backgrounds.

If I can download the rules they froze up my computer last time.

I can see it I put the summoning incantation really in a dime novel for some sort of Old One servant race in one of her cheap dime dreadfuls, oopsi! -when not in her right mind-

Ok, just confirming that I am in, and my character is an English mystery writer.  Think a young Agatha Christie.

Hey Ruby, our characters might be friends .. or rivals .. or a bit of both :P

Hey everyone I know this board has been inactive for some time now but I just got approved for E and would love to play a CoC game. I have been trying to get my friends to play but they all woos out. If the game is still a go I will pick up the books I need and make my character.
The concept is a male psychologist who does research  at Oxford. And after working with a patient that went insane by the standard CoC means. Became interested and began studying the occult to try and better understand what his patient went through.
That is what I have and if the game is still on tell me and I will get a char made for it.
