If I offended anybody or upset anybody by coming across as too aggressive or insulting, I apologise. I get passionate about freedom of speech and whatnot, and that sometimes comes across as aggressive or condescending, which is never my intention. So I will (really) leave it at that. SO.


What else is in the news? I don't get a lot of it, being in China.

Free speech should be absolute. Period. Jokes should not be an imprisonable offense, that's simply absurd. The whole reason for freedom of speech resides in the area of grayness. You can take just about anything anyone has ever said, twist it grossly out of context and then claim their intention was one of desired violence, murder, genocide, etc.

Jokes hit. Jokes miss. Some stupid jokes are funny. Some stupid jokes are not. This is the same for more complex jokes. People learn from what people react to positively or negatively. But, prison? That's straight up tyranny, fascistic, whatever word you want to call it. It's wrong. There is no defense for it. At all.

That's all I have to say on this matter, if someone wants to take it up with me on PMs that'd be fine. Otherwise, back to the topic of the thread.

Hmm...not heard much about this, but it looks halfway decent. I might check it out when it comes out, if I can get my hands on it. And if I'm not absorbed into Cold Steel III. >.>

Well, they did tease it, so... I'm actually expecting it.

Even a small sighting, like in an alleyway or something, seeing her teleport. That'd do it for me. Reading the Witcher books made me smile multiple times during the games when they made references to book events.

Oh, or if she has like a helmet on and a voice-changer, and through the quest we're helping this mysterious person before she flips the voice thing off and says 'Farewell' and teleports. That'd make me pause the game and soak up the awesome sauce.

Just went to Craigslist and saw this. I guess the government is now banning how people can talk to each other. Republicans, but apparently almost all of Congress voted for this. Life is changing.

US Congress just passed HR 1865, "FOSTA", seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.

Any tool or service can be misused. We can't take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day.

I had not idea of the ramifications of this bill. On the surface, trying to stop sex trafficking is good, but as usual, laws meant to right a wrong end up hurting the innocent and curtailing our freedom. I guess one of these days, sites like Elliquiy will be banned or have to dissolve because of fears that sexually explicit behavior is allowed. Even though E is specifically set up in a manner to try to stymie behaviors that go beyond the norm and tries to protect its users ... so did Craigslist.

Can we legislate behavior? That is behavior that is a personal choice. Not that which is obviously detrimental to others, ie. murder, rape.

I really just do not know what this country is coming to.

Can't help thinking of this quote from the man who ran down large numbers of people with a van in central Stockholm a year ago and killed four on the spot: he said this in court yesterday:
