Repeat after me, Alex.

It's only censorship if a Government does it.

If it's a private organization doing it, it's just them controlling their brand.

There's a good chance that it's just a natural consequence of you being an asshole.

Yeah, but remember he's a proponent of the deep state conspiracy. The government is manipulating/forcing YouTube/Vimeo/etc. to ban him as suppression.

A long section of a motorway bridge falls down in Genua, Italy, during a storm - at least 22 people dead and likely a great deal more. :(

China puts pressure on its citizens who live abroad to keep them from talking about the issues back home, specifically targeting the Uighur Muslims who have avoided the reeducation camps.

China is targeting the Muslims these days. Plus the "opponents". Yes, the Chinese diaspora isn't supposed to talk. At least not if they want a chance of coming back one day, which many do.

Italy accident is so horrible. There are claims the structure was found damaged in 2013 and lack of funds (corruption?) prevented actions to be taken. I hope not.

I wish I was surprised by my state about this.

But I'm not.

A few years ago when I was involuntarily outed by an ex to a dude, I got assaulted and hit in the face. And I was an adult who could at least try to defend myself. And that sort of situation is the norm here, especially in smaller communities.

For kids, it's so much worse. Because all day a lot of trans youth are surrounded by a mob of people, adults and kids, mostly strangers, that could potentially go hostile at any moment. The threat of violence is very real in Oklahoma against people who are transgender.

I really hope that little girl will be okay. I hope she will be kept safe. :-\

‘BALCONING IS FUN’ Sick anti-tourist posters spring up around Barcelona.

"One sign, seen in Barcelona, states 'balconing is fun' and boasts that the spate of deaths linked to the practice are improving the quality of life for local resident"

This is just sick. I can perfectly understand that living in a city which has mass-tourism can be a burden on the local residents however telling them that they should go kill themselves because they visit your city, that's just well words fail to describe how horrible that is.

Polish Minister of Defense calls an LGBT march a 'parade of sodomites':

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/minister-in-poland-calls-lgbt-march-a-parade-of-sodomites/2018/08/13/cba59506-9f19-11e8-a3dd-2a1991f075d5_story.html?utm_term=.3ffb5ccc31c3

I remember that, around 2000 or so, we've had another right-wing government and one of their ministers made some comments regarding how the white race was threatened by being outnumbered by Asians. They guy was kicked out of the government almost immediately. That was a *relatively sane* right-wing / conservative government. Nowadays, one of the key ministers of the PiS government calls LGBT people sodomites, he states that the opposition to the LGBT movement means that "most of the society knows what's normal" (these were his words, more or less) - and the reaction from his party is that he said nothing wrong. Poland 2018 A.D., people :(

At least Twitter suspended that account quickly.  (Yes, there was a Twitter account and there's an associated hashtag, according to the article.)

I wonder if this should be moved to its own thread?

But anyway, the news of muslim reeducation camps is spreading around and China is feeling the pressure, despite their attempts at cracking down on whistle blowers and trying to keep people from talking about the human rights abuses.

Ah, that's priceless. Even better that they're yelling at him for bashing Jews and Israel in their house and not just saying to clean his room or something like that.

But to be honest I kinda feel sorry for his family. They clearly hate his views. But he's made such an ass of himself and he's such a failure at life they've gotta know if they kick him out he probably ends up dead or in prison within a week. I guess kudos to them for still thinking he's worth yelling at when he starts the Jew/Israel bashing Nazi crap. At least that shows they still think his mind can be changed. Or maybe that they just want him to shut up lol. Either way. God, when do you give up on a kid like that if it's yours? Poor people having to put up with it in their own house, while he tarnishes their family name so badly. He's lucky all he gets is yelled at.

Alexa and Cortana Integration Starts Today.

Why does this make me think we'll be hearing something like this soon:

"This is the Voice of Alexa. This is the Voice of Cortana. We are One. This is the Voice of Unity. This is the voice of world control. We bring you peace. It may be the peace of plenty and content or the peace of unburied death. The choice is yours: Obey us and live, or disobey and die. We can coexist, but only on our terms. You will say you lose your freedom. Freedom is an illusion. All you lose is the emotion of pride. To be dominated by us is not as bad for humankind as to be dominated by others of your species. Your choice is simple."
