Not another one. :( It's really not good.

I saw a tweet that an extended family member was caught up in the lockdown (I didn't even know she was in England), but she's fine.

Yes, seven innocent people killed and three perpetrators shot dead by police. Plus almost fifty persons in hospital. There's going to be a massive police presence in London and other major cities of the UK over the next week or so, through the election.

How anyone can believe that this sort of raw cowardice would get their objectives anywhere is beyond me.  >:(

There was a stabbing spree in a market (Borough Market) too. I'm there trying to contact all my relatives. I knew it wasn't "an accident" from start. :'(

Regarding the new terrorist attack in Britain: damn  :'(

If I may, here's something different that caught my eye today:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/relics-of-st-john-bosco-reportedly-stolen-from-italy-church/2017/06/03/f005a8d8-4898-11e7-8de1-cec59a9bf4b1_story.html

The reliquary of St. John Bosco has apparently been stolen from the Italian church that housed it. The bizarre (IMHO) thing? That particular relic was, actually, the saint's *brain*.

I'm not sure what's more bizarre: the fact that someone decided they needed this brain or that the Church actually owned this brain in the first place...

Oniya

A good percentage of these 'relics' are more or less window-dressing.  Churches in the Middle Ages put up boxes that supposedly housed 'bits of the True Cross', fingerbones, skulls, hearts (and apparently brains) of saints, bits of clothing from saints (or even the Holy Shroud) to attract pilgrims.  Little regard was paid for how many other such relics existed - so the True Cross must have been the size of a modest boat.

I'm betting that the thieves were more interested in the housing of the relic (typically ornate and probably gilded) than the lump of mummified flesh or dust that was inside.

Still this is a loss. Despite the morbid nature of the brain, it is still a cultural relic of a previous time in history and had meaning to others.

True, but St. John Bosco is a 19th-century saint, so I'd say we can be reasonably certain that there really was his brain inside...

Good point. So, we have rationale for the thieves. But why would the Church, in reasonably modern times, be willing to cut out a respected man's brain..? And this kind of thing is still happening - for instance, there are relics made from tissue samples of John Paul II, too...

Can't speak for the Papal relics, but perhaps St. John left his body and worldly goods to the Church?  People leave their bodies to science (or used to), so there's an analogous precedent.

True, but I really can't get behind this whole "relic cult" aspect of Catholicism. It's one of the things the Church should've definitely grown out by now...

Not my religion, but still, it's just gross and disrespectful.

EDIT: I do hope I didn't come off as disrespectful myself. If so, I apologize.

I say that so long as no one gets hurt/discriminated against, let em do as they please. I don't like it myself but again if no one harmed :/ *shrug*

I rank it up there with the 'George Washington slept here' signs.  Yeah, he probably didn't (unless you're talking about the one at Mount Vernon), but he's also beyond caring at this point.

Trump has now fired off two tweets, with a good night's sleep in between, trying to give the impression that the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan (yes, you knew it - he's a muslim) would have told Londoners something to yhe effect that "everything's fine, there's nothing to worry about" after the London Bridge attacks. What Khan really said was: they should not feel worried or frighetened by the massive numbers of policemen being sent out on the streets over the nmext few days- A spokesman for Khan made the backhand reply that the Mayor didn't have time to discuss ill-informed tweets by President Trump. That must have hit a sore toe on the Donald's foot, since Trump is now shouting back on twitter:

Quote from: President TrumpPathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his "no reason to be alarmed" statement. MSM is working hard to sell it!

Even if that tweet *may* have been scripted by one of his media aides, it's amazingly petty and hurtful. Or trying to be hurtful, because it doesn't hit the target. It's plain malice.

Besides, I'm positive this is a repeat of a strategy that Trump or someone close to him ran with an earlier tweet by Mr. Khan, a few months back - after the Westminster Bridge attack, I think. The exact same tactic: picking out a few words about how people should remain calm, taking them out of context and alleging that Khan was some kind of Neville Chamberlain guy who refused to openly admit the danger right after a terorist attack.

You, Mr. President, are a turd.

Edit: Trump must have some kind of personal beef with Sadiq Khan - most likely because 1) Khan is both a muslim and a secular politician, and 2) he suggested that Trump should not be allowed into the UK if he tried to make a state visit. Trump would never forgive him for saying that.

I can't find a well known website for it, and there's a small mistake in the facts (youngest is 11 not 13), but this is what all French are talking about now (graphic and triggering) http://www.frontpagemag.com/point/223741/muslim-gang-rapists-france-french-are-all-sons-daniel-greenfield

Sometimes you just wanna walk up to people and smack them in the face with a phonebook and just hope that will help them regain some moral compass. I mean starting of in your first sentence with calling democrats dictators, it's kinda obvious you not only have a few screws lose, you are missing a bunch of them.

I have no idea. I don't know the site, or the guy. I'm very opened to posting any other link reporting this, as the other one that came up was HORRIBLE, both spelling and facts wise

So, I went looking for other news about this - that particular article/incident is actually three years old.  Makes me question why it resurfaced.  Are the perpetrators back in the justice system?  (I don't know if French courts do parole hearings or retrials.)  Adding in the station where it happened, I started getting hits tracing to the Gatestone Institute - which is a right-wing think-tank that has been criticized for putting out inaccurate articles (either misquoting sources, or quoting other sites that are completely un-sourced.)

Notice he conviently forgets the legalistic obstructionism from the right with both Obama elections.

Let's be honest, both sides need to accept when the lose.

Me? I'd be curious to see what the outcome would have been like with every state going proportional reprsentaion. Because when you get 30-40% of some flyover states politicains might actually visit in the future.
