Man in Ohio made his way into a school playground during recess, and proceeded to stab a 7 year old girl, who is now in critical condition,  before fleeing when officers rushed to the scene.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/man-enters-school-playground-stabs-7-year-old-at-recess/ar-BBsJpXt?li=BBnb4R7&ocid=HPCOMMDHP15

Police are still hunting for him now.

I hope they blow his brains out, the fuck.

Part of me wonders if this was targeted, maybe the guy was a pedophile and the girl threatened to tell on him...

Seems more random then that...   now excuse me while i wash my mouth i that tasted all kinds of bad...

But as scary as it could be he could just be randomly fucked in the head, hopefully by a few 9mm rounds.

Can we at least entertain the possibility he was mentally ill, before getting all bloodthirsty? A psycho who just decided to stab a little kid for kicks might deserve a FMJ sandwich, but the guy who stabbed a demon because the magical space fairies told him to doesn't. Locked up in a psych ward for a while, sure, but the mental health industry does theoretically exist to actually help people besides rich celebrities in 'rehab'.

Do we help him after or before the kid stops bleeding sir?

The immediate bloodthirsty responses actually perturb me quite a bit. Reminds me of a couple of stories where some "vigilantes" went and brutally murdered an innocent person who either had been a suspect or they assumed to be a suspect, only for the investigation to figure out the real perpetrator a while later, if there had even been a crime in the first place...

Ideally, before the kid starts bleeding.  Were it not for the tremendous stigma of mental illness and the state of the US health care system, the mentally ill could receive treatment before they have psychotic breaks.

...you really think it's an either/or"? We're not talking some sort of magical ritual here, where you need to spill the blood of the attacker to save the victim's life. All I'm saying is that maaaaaaaaaybe extrajudicial executions aren't automatically the best solution.

Mental health care sucks, even when in the system it still sucks. Yes thats a terrible thing, it should be addressed.
In this case its a little to late
I find rushing to the perpetrators aid to be frankly kind of wrong.

So yes i think you are wrong for immediately going "Oh the poor guy who stabbed that girl, maybe he had mental problems" honestly after a point i do not care, if he is mentally disturbed enough that he dos that, then the effective consequences should be the same. He is put in a place, a door is locked and he is kept inside there because he is dangerous. Prisons and asylums work on the same principle.

There is a world of difference between somebody who has mental problems and responsibly handles them and somebody who dos not, peaple who have severe enough delusions to have "space fairies" tell them to kill people have probably been diagnosed if thats the case he should be on medication. If he is not that is likely to be a result of his own actions. So no my sympathy dos not rise very high.

Note that I didn't say anything about 'the poor guy'. I said maybe we should consider the possibility that he wasn't in control of his actions. Whereas you and LB were 'oh he is 100% guaranteed to be evil and probably a pedophile lets shoot him dead'. There's reason we have laws and don't live in Mad Max World, and one of them is to make it so that people who deserve punishment get punished, and people who need treatment/help get it.

You know nothing about the man, and because a child was hurt, you automatically jump to the worst possible answer and the one that lets you vicariously enjoy someone being killed. I'd like to see actual, you know, justice happen, whatever outcome that happens to be.

Honestly, all I'm asking is just to not jump to conclusions. Wait until we have more information before passing summary judgement on a complete stranger.

Anyone claiming that higher-level mathematics = flight-endangering terrorism should be required to do all their future computations (budgets, balancing checkbooks, taxes, calculating carpeting and paint usage, etc) using Roman numerals.

Arithmancy, a tool of the darkest and most foul sorcery. Truly that woman is a heroine for stopping his malevolent scheme.

Mainly I just remember that Hermione studied it.

A friend posted a picture at this memorial today on Facebook (it's in Ireland) and it definitely seemed a unique one, so I Googled it and found an interesting article. http://www.irishcentral.com/roots/history/-Irish-town-builds-memorial-to-thank-Native-Americans-who-helped-during-Famine.html

Keanu Reeves is beings talked by a Third insane fan, who left him a cellphone and a note in his mailbox.

What is with this guy and crazy fans breaking into his home or leaving creepy stalker supplies with him?

In other news Lil Kim has gone about bestowing himself new titles.

What does he have to cry about? His life is awesome. It's the life of everyone else in his country that sucks, and they're not real people anyways.

Who's to say his life is 'all that'? Everyone has their burdens to bear and their difficult things to deal with. I'm sure he does too.

He probably has anyone who brings him a burden or difficult thing to deal with shot for treason or something. Megalomaniacs tend to have very well-developed abilities of denial and blame-passing, after all; they are perfect, so any problems must be someone else's fault.
