State legislators introduce bill to repeal HB2 (the 'bathroom bill')

http://www.wect.com/story/31803565/house-legislators-to-file-hb2-repeal-monday?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link

If you're in North Carolina, remember these people on Election Day - the ones that introduced the bill and the ones that are trying to repeal it.

If you ask me, it doesn't have shit to really do with LGBT and trans people. Its just about setting a precedent for dealing with 'troublemakers' should they have need for it in the future.

I dont know, it mostly sounds petty and mean spirited. Well its more Trans specific then LGBT in general since they would still go into the same baths.

John Boehner calls Ted Cruz "Lucifer in the flesh" and adds "I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life."

^_ ^

Not the best way to make himself popular with his own party, I figure...And yes, I understand Cruz has a reputation for putting other commitments ahead of his role as a senator, but this is still...an unusual kind of invective.  :P

So apparently Tenessee put a Religious Counseling bill into law.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/tennessee-governor-signs-religious-counseling-bill-into-law/ar-BBslCYZ?li=BBnbfcL&ocid=HPCOMMDHP15

This just tells me that the government doesn't think the Mental Health system is broken enough, and feels the need to make it even more broken.

*sigh* Is it bad that I feel ashamed of my faith everytime other Christians do stupid shit like this? Or should I just be angry?

Speaking as someone outside the faith - it's not your faith that's the problem.  It's that these people stopped reading before the Good parts.

Another one I've used is 'They should go back and read the red words.'  (Since there are a number of editions that specifically put Jesus' words in red text.)

....damn it. I hate my state. For exactly reasons like this. *sigh*

This ruling is fucked up. This ruling represents a huge danger for all Oklahoma women---the precedent is dreadful.  >:(

Bizarre. Utterly bizarre.

Still, I'm not sure it beats the verdict of one Italian court from a while ago, when the judge dismissed the rape case, as the victim had been wearing tight pants at the time of her rape - and, according to the judge, such pants would have been very hard to remove forcibly...

What is a danger is the law that leaves a gap by its emphasis on "forcibly". The ruling may have pointed out that problem, but it hasn't created it. Going by the article linked above I find myself agreeing with the ruling, even if I don't agree with the result it leads to. You can't convict someone of doing something "forcible" if he didn't use any force. I think it's wrong to blame the court for following the law. That is what it is supposed to do, after all.

Helmet Cam stolen from an Isis (Daesh) Fighter in an armored car, shows just how much their morale is low, hwo untrained they are and how they are losing in the fight against the Peshmerga.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/helmet-cam-footage-shows-islamic-state-in-battlefield-chaos/ar-BBspXmN?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=HPCOMMDHP15

This footage should be shown everywhere, so that all can see these killers are not invincible and are just a bunch of cowards in the face of those who wouldn't bow to them.

Other news:  US citizens joining the Kurdish fighters to kill ISIS.
I bet everyone of them watches Lawrence of Arabia before goingn into battle.
http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/us-volunteers-seek-adventure-fighting-islamic-state-alongside-kurds/ar-BBsd5On

IVe seen a couple guys who served in Iraq before hand returning there of their own choice to fight against ISIS, which partially brings up the question if they might be combat addicts, but then again it could be they truly believe in fighting against this evil.

Id love to see more about this in the future and how historians look at it. It reminds me of those who went to france to fight the first world war before the US entered it officially, or the Flying Tigers, the mercs who fought the Japanese and defended China from air assault.

hmmm...do these guys count as Mercenaries?

Article 47 of the Geneva Conventions defines Mercenary as it applies to war:
Quote

    Article 47 [ Link ] -- Mercenaries

    1. A mercenary shall not have the right to be a combatant or a prisoner of war.

    2. A mercenary is any person who:

    (a) is specially recruited locally or abroad in order to fight in an armed conflict;

    (b) does, in fact, take a direct part in the hostilities;

    (c) is motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a Party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party;

    (d) is neither a national of a Party to the conflict nor a resident of territory controlled by a Party to the conflict;

    (e) is not a member of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict; and

    (f) has not been sent by a State which is not a Party to the conflict on official duty as a member of its armed forces.

They don't meet clauses A (since they're volunteers rather than being recruited) or C (They're not getting paid), so strictly they are not mercenaries.

Well lets not pretend that Daesh would give much of a fuck about Geneva Conventions, half the time the US barely dos.

EDIT: Watching the video, you know as soon as i saw the idiot with the RPG i knew he would fuck it up and he did. I am a little shocked he did not manage to kill them selfs with that, ware is a handy gas canister when you need it. The rifle stance/fire control would probably have my old army instructor gnashing his teeth.

There is something very dangerous happening in the Western hemisphere with all those ultra-conservative laws being passed one after the other in Europe and the US.

I'm not sure about Europe, but at least in the US it's all confined to one geographical area, our Southwest - a region long known for being extremely conservative and prone to trends of bigotry of various flavors. Oklahoma's pushing the edge, but it's still firmly in the 'Bible Belt' zone.

Yah its called people Catastrophizing everything. Its one case of a rather strange legal vague area, its not "The end is nye" its not a symptom of something looming its just a legal loophole one that i am almost sure will be addressed. Every so often you trip over one.

The bathroom bill nonsense becomes even more nonsensical when you consider some of the people who would if they would follow it need to go into bathrooms ware i am sure they would get some very confused looks.
