Sacha Baron Cohen while filming a an interview with someone where he pretended to be a pedophile asking for boys to rape, got a the person he was interviewing to admit to knowing child sex trafficking rings and offered to get him boys of the desired ages. After they finished filming he reported it to the FBI, who he claimed did nothing, and decided to cut it from his show because it was just too disturbing to put in his show.

The FBI doing nothing is sadly pretty common in these instances. Though we'll have to wait to know if they really did anything or not.

That would be British rule over the colonies. And then further back before that the many tribes of America though they didn't often have what would be seen as full on governments but had their own concepts of territories and community and structures.

That would greatly extend the 'history of the nation' (for different lengths of times per colony, considering the different countries that had a hand in it), but I still don't think that kind of 'become an advisor?  F--- no!' reaction has been seen before.  (Possibly post-1776 in other countries - did royal advisors jump ship during the French Revolution?)

Well there wasn't an America as we know it before 1776. In that period you would have what you call the "thirteen colonies [of Brittain]", so before then we were basically English. You could probably extend national history to 1774 for at the greatest, but then your just talking about the revolution, General Washington, militia, the Minutemen, the Continental Congress and the Continental Army. The Declaration of Independence is just about it for 'government' at that point.

I really want to take a class on Antebellum History now- or maybe there's a revolutionary period history?

My own notions of pre-1776 North American history (north of the Rio Grande) are rather sketchy too. We barely read anything about it at school, so my ideas are a mixture of stuff gleaned from British history and things that turned up in various tv series (most movies about native Americans and whites don't deal with these early centuries either). :)
