Yep! a 0-3 on units (rather then choices as i misunderstood, and of course, friends and i started discussing it, so i paused the video RIGHT before he explained, of course) limit is actually pretty fine for me. So yeah, false alarm.

And yeah, next time im out im gonna push for a 1000 point game, and he is stopping drinking for a while cause he is getting afraid its getting out of control, and thus i shall stop as well when im out.

Burnas in a trukk are the scariest thing ever ._.

haha, yeah. the burna thing was just a joke i ran as group with friend... which was taken down when he pulled a "WITNESS ME!!!" with his transport into the middle of my massive swarm of orks, and as its a TON of guys with burnas (which count as power weapons in melee) they carved it up right fast... ... And he rolled a 6 on it exploding so it went boom in the middle of the heap and we laughed so hard i forfeited as an explosion in a group of orks with poorly constructed flame throwers is unlikely to end well for them.

And hey! yeah. new FAQ just dropped! https://whc-cdn.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/warhammer_40000_The_Big_FAQ_1_2018_en.pdf

TheLaughingOne

yyeeaahh...

So.. Opinion time! New rules on targeting means that if a character has less then 10 wounds, he cant be targeted if another unit is closer... Even if that unit cant be seen.

So if you have rowboat girlyman charging with his giant flaming warp fuckstick ready for your rectum, you cant target him because a single guardsman conscript is behind a piece of terrain that you have no hope of getting through or around...

Thoughts?

That made me laugh harder than it should have XD

I do find the fact that LoS thing is pretty dumb

TheLaughingOne

dont worry, it makes me laugh way to hard as well.

and yeah, originally their "in world" argument was that people tend to focus on the closer threat, even if its a smaller one.

... Ok. yeah, i can dig that. its kinda stupid, but it makes some sense...

But now...?

"FUCK!! ROWBOAT GIRLYMAN IS CHARGING STRAIGHT AT US!! EVERYBODY OPEN FIRE ON HIM!!"
whoawhoawhoa... There is a single guardsmen hidding behind that giant impenetrable wall, and he is much closer.  we need to focus on him first.
"Seriously?!?!?! Why the hell would we do that when a Primarchs charging us with a giant flaming death sword THAT WAS WIELDED BY THE EMPEROR!?!?!?!?"
Because he is closer, he is obviously the biggest threat at the moment.
"... Really...?"
Well, you dont wanna make him feel bad by ignoring him do you..?"
"I-" *takes flaming warp sword to the everything*

Ollanius Pius was just a humble Guardsman. Still think a lone trooper with a flashlight's no big deal?
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

That's interesting that a closer unit even if hidden acts as a defence for a character now.

I think this goes into unit placement meaning a lot more now. I'm sure some fuckers out there will find a way to do hijinks like that, so expect this soon to be tweaked. The original rulebook had characters unable to be targetted if another unit is closer anyway and I think this rule was made mainly to combat asshats moving their units deliberately into places where the units closer were made unviable to attack.

Also, let's be fair... You have more than one unit on the table unless you're going Knights or it's a Turn 6 meatgrinder and you refuse to concede, so if an enemy unit is in no way able to get attacked or got into your line of sight when you've done your turn, you done fucked up and deserve the Rowboat colostomy.

Also 0-2 units for 1000pts... My mate may need his army list again... ::)

I... Had something. not sure now. heads killing me. gonna take some aspirin and try to crash...

on quick side note as i listen to the ravenor series... For as much as they talka bout how ravenor is one of the most powerful human psykers of the time... He sure runs into alot of other baseline human psykers without all the amplifiers and such he has who just beat his ass. Anybody else notice that..?

It's 'The Worf Effect'... Basically a trope where a total badass gets their ass handed to them by a threat, to job the threat and make the reader/viewer consider said threat to be more credible, that there's gonna be some actual stakes...

Trope is named as such because it happened to Worf all the goddamned time in TNG, to the point that Worf being a badass was more an informed ability than having any visual evidence to back it up.

Rad

Hmmm, I'm not sure what these new rules are of which you speak. I saw they were touting some new update on their social medias, but I'm not up to date.

However, given that I'm about to have my very first game of 40K (yay!) over Tabletop Simulator (less yay?), I feel like I might want to know this. Is there a link somewhere that my lazy, caffeine-deprived brain can't find right now?

And speaking of things that make one laugh more than one should...

Link for FAQ is in the first comment at the top of page 114.

What army you gonna play? n.n

TheLaughingOne

more extensive, https://www.warhammer-community.com/faqs/ this has all the new FAQs and such for all the different armies. revised point costs, rule clarification, and so forth!

Somehow I completely missed that link there. Caffaine-deprived brain would like to apologise. Thank you!

And I am still debating whether to go Craftworlds or T'au. I think I'm leaning more towards Eldar, because I think I understand them a little better. But the Tau do have some serious dakka.

My mate will be playing Space Wolves. So I'm guessing I'll be needing lots of AP, high Strength shots, and the ability to stay far the feck away from them. Methinks my beloved Banshees wouldn't be the best unit to deploy here.

MiaKage

Ooo I love Eldar, I just can't get past their helmets, the look so goofy to me  :P

Idej

Ok clarification for the Big FAQ and Battle Brothers.  Wasn't the whole point of the Ynnari to be able to be an Eldar unified force?  I mean now it seems that with the Eldar you can't mix like that which kind of goes against the philosophy of the Ynnari.

Correct me if I am wrong but it does seem that it is a step backwards.  I get breaking up soup armies but the 6nnari was supposed to be a soup.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you field the Ynarri characters in a detachment, the Aeldari units gain the Ynarri keyword, this just does it via detachments fielded together, rather than mixing in one cohesive detachment all three eldar factions.

From what I can read, you're basically splitting any seperate Eldar forces into their own detachments (to keep the army Battle-Forged) and you choose which Ynarri character leads what. So one as HQ in a Craftworlder detachment and one as HQ in a Drukhari detachment for example.

It depends what keywords you're using. You can't link a detachment together purely with 'Aeldari' or 'Ynarri' anymore, though the Ynarri characters can be placed into any detachment regardless of the Battle Brothers rule and gives that detachment the 'Ynarri' keyword and replaces the detachment's special rules with their own.

So yeah, as far as I can see, you can have Yvraine as a warlord and stick her leading a Craftworld/Drukhari/Harlequin detachment, then have a second detachment with say, the Ynarch leading one of the other of the three factions.

MiaKage

Why did they complicate list bulging so much?  :-X

wander

It's only complicated if you want to take allies. Ynarri isn't a regular army and only came in at the end of 7th and honestly, I feel they needed better playtesting as they are broken in 8th (that's not personal opinion either, lots of people claim they're broken and OP too), we'll see if this changes how they are.

Things are still the same and fairly simple. Agree to a points limit (usually 1000-2000pts), grab a HQ as your warlord, give 'em a warlord trait and a relic. Then select your units, match them up to a Detachment or two (this edition's Force Organisation charts). Total your Command Points and you're away.

The FAQ has basically trimmed down on some spam-lists and tried to fix the Ynarri.
