I've been eyeing these dolls for years. The price tag seems a bit much, even for the quality. Unfortunately, there are only three companies that even make a male. Other than Sinthetics, there's also RealDoll.com and MaidleeDolls. The Real Dolls are similar to Sinthetics in look and pricing. Where as Sinthetics and RealDoll are the Cadillac, MaidleeDolls are more like a Saturn.
Really the only the only thing stopping me, besides being broke and it would take like 7 - 10 years to save for one, are the horror stories about them breaking. Their construction is really great apparently. They can withstand up to like 500+ pounds. But they're heavy as Hell. 95 - 100 pounds for a male, sometimes more. It's the stainless steel skeleton and mounds of silicone. That's dead weight to try and move and position. Some owners use a modified dolly(handrail moving device) or wheelchair to move them. Their fingers and toes are extremely delicate and can break off easily if bent too roughly or hit upon something. Also, most pictures are professionally done, so they don't have that (deer in headlights) that the owner's pictures have.
With all their faults, I'd still love to have one. Actually I'd love to have a male and a female. It'd be like a threesome with Barbie and Ken.
