interest check: DnD 4
« on: August 11, 2008, 12:26:53 AM »
I'm thinking on running a 4th edition DnD campaign that is about a land that phases in and out of existence in areas. It'll have a few of it's own custom races but nothing too bad. I'm not certain how far I should take the content ratings so if people want to also tell me how far they want to go that would be cool.

I am interested for 4th edition game but I wonder what sort of world is a one which haves areas which phase in and out? Do you speak perhaps a dimensionally unstable world?

a powerful mage tried to summon an evil god to the land. The spell itself failed resulting in the dimensional plane being very unstable. So each time an area "Phases out" It's replaced by the same area on a different plane.

Because of this Planar instability there will be two races other then the ones listed in the PHB that will be playable.

Available Races:

Any race in the core rule book, plus the following

Kobolds of Norrich
Green Ones (goblin)

Kobolds of Norrich: From the MM;
Kobolds REVERE dragons and tend to dwell in and around
places where dragons are known to lair. They skulk in the
darkness, hiding from stronger foes and swarming to overwhelm
weaker ones. Kobolds are cowardly and usually flee once
bloodied unless they have a strong leader present.

The dragon Norrich has taken his clan under his wing. He uses his kobold cult to keep the dark creatures of the west at bay. While most people fear the dragon for what he is, they are in more fear of the west. His kingdom is the only way for the creatures to come.
Norrich sends his kobold clan members out to the world to learn more and become more relaxed with the world around them

While Kobolds are normally evilly these kobolds are unaligned. Each has some sort of trinket to Norrich which they consider to be their god in living form. This trinket reminds them of who they pray to.

they have the following Racial Traits:

Average Height: 3' 5" - 4' 8"
Average Weight: 50-75 lbs

Ability Score: +2 Dex +2 Con
Size: small
Speed: 6 squares
Vision: Low-Light

Languages: Draconic; Common
Skill Bonus: +2 Stealth +2 Dungeoneering

Hail the dragons: You are a dragonborn for purposes of feats
Blood Frenzy: You gain a +1 racial bonus for damage against bloodied foes
Group Strength: -1 attack When your not within 5 squares of an ally; +1 to
stealth When your not within 5 squares of an ally
Dragonskin: +1 ac

Re: Request To Join Information

Goblin: From the MM;
           Goblins are WICKED TREACHEROUS creatures that love plunder cruelty;
they're not very big or strong but they're dangerous when they gang
              up.
Goblins breed quickly and can live most anyway from caves to ruins to
city's sewer. They survive by raiding and robbery taking every
usable item they can carry from thier victims

Green ones: No one truly knows what the green ones are up to. For the most part they are one of the only non-violent goblin race. They build things, creating a mix of magic powered technology and spell works. They make a living off the products they sell. Although no one wants to ask them were they get their components. Many think a goblin is simply a goblin and that they steal from caravans, and other raids on more 'civilized' people.

they have the following Racial Traits:

Average Height: 3' 10" - 4' 2"
Average Weight: 50-85 lbs

Ability Score: +2 Int +2 Dex
Size: small
Speed: 5 squares
Vision: Low-Light

Languages: Goblin; Common
Skill Bonus: +2 Arcana +2 Thievery (they are goblins after all)

Jack of all trades: Goblins gain the Jack of all trades feat

Diligence: At first level you choose the encounter powers of a class other then your own and can use that daily.

Survivor: You can use healing surges as if they were at-will; but you only have a max of 4 daily.

there might be a third race I'll post it later on.

I'll start you guys at level 3 you have 520 gp starting gold, you have three magic items:
lvl 2 item
lvl 3 item
lvl 4 item

the only optional suggestion I have is making a 3x3x3 sheet
that stands for 3 Allies, 3 contacts, 3 enemies. that way I have some optional plot devices I can use.

I have yet to get to play 4th edition, even with my friend intending on running a game.  If you've got an opening, count me in.  I have a defender or a Striker ready at a moments notice for the group.

I'd love to play. It'll give me something to do to understand the mechanics of the new edition so I can further my campaign writing onward.

That is if there is still some room. I hope. :D

Also, do you get the three magical items on top of the currency?

Okay, while I revise my character, I'll send it in.

I'm playing a Half-Elf Warlord; had to say that to the other players here.

I retract my statement. I shall not be playing in this game after all. I apologize for the short-term confusion.

I have no desire to partake in a sexually inclined D&D game. Especially not my first experience of fourth edition. Adult; sure, gritty; but not a sexual overtone setting.

thats more of a precaution then anything else. Sex will not be the main focus of the campaign; however I don't like to censor myself either.

Ill throw up a character in the next day or so if there is a spot, I would suggest everyone picks a role ((leader, defender, striker, controller)) so we have a nice mix

Hmmm, I think I could play striker (ranger or rogue) or controller (wizard). I make based on what others make and fill slot then.

I have an Eldrian Ranger and a Dragonborn Paladin I'm customizing to fit the game.  I'd prefer to play the Ranger.  Hopefully this will help people make decisions, but I'll have a Paladin if someone is hard set to play the groups striker and we don't have the numbers for more.
