Khaquir; a rare race with a knack for elemental-based magic.
Roughly 6'1". Wiry. Ivory skin decorated with tribal-like markings from head to toe. Red eyes. Ebony back-length hair. Long fingers tipped with black claws.
Contortion, conjuring, various illusions.
Born into poverty, Katu was his parents' third and last child. An unwanted one, at that. Thinner and frailer than his siblings, he wasn't able to contribute much to the family farm which led to many brutal beatings from both his father and mother, neither of whom bothered to hide their contempt of him. Worse yet, where his family possessed the Khaquir's natural ability to control the elements, he did not, which further alienated him from his kind.
To cope with his family's abuse, Katu withdrew into himself and discovered a host of magical abilities - not in elemental control, but in illusion. Thereafter, in his adolescence, Katu ran away and never looked back. After a long journey, he found himself in more modern, bustling cities, where he used his magic to his advantage as a street performer. His talents eventually landed him in the court of a Lord, from whom he earned a tidy living. It wasn't to last, however, for Katu's restlessness took him elsewhere, and he has traveled endlessly ever since.
Overconfident and sometimes downright cocky, Katu has a knack for causing trouble. An unapologetic trickster, he never takes anything too seriously if he can help it. This is, however, due in large part to his troubled upbringing. Humor and recklessness are his coping methods in an unforgiving world.
High fantasy or modern fantasy.
Katu would thrive with one of two personality types. He either needs someone equally reckless, or someone very grounded.
