Where are programs downloaded by default?

Windows XP and up have a folder called 'My Downloads'.  Also, your browser should have a download history (for Firefox, it's a little down-arrow next to the search bar in the upper right), from which you can select the downloaded file and then click a folder icon to go to the containing folder.
