The Shadow of Yesterday (up to NC-H/NC-E)
« on: July 30, 2008, 10:29:45 AM »
Here's another little indie game I've run across that looks like a lot of fun!  It also looks like it would work well with a rotating GM.

"The Shadow of Yesterday is pulpy romantic sword-and-sorcery at the end of one world and the beginning of the next. This game melds the best of standard fantasy role-playing and a hard-charging narrative engine. The revised version of this game, out now, focuses even more on mechanics that make your story zing off the table and into your imagination.

Set in a post-apocalyptic fantasy world where the creation of a moon has ravaged cultures and thrown the fate of the earth into question, TSOY is like a Weird Tales contribution written by Emily Bronte."

For char-gen purposes I suggest either the cheat sheet
http://random-average.com/TSOY/CharacterCreation

or the Lifepath system
http://tsoy.crngames.com/Dave%27s_Life_Path_System

There are also a number of fan adaptations for a variety of other settings    Just in case the Conan/Xena/Talislanta thing doesn't do it for someone.

You know, if I were not too stupid to understand system roleplay from reading the mass amounts of confusing instructions AND be able to make sense of them at the same time, I'd be interested in this (okay, I am still interested).

Are you still looking for players?

If so, is there any way I could have some assistance in breaking this down for me to make it simpler? It doesn't seem too difficult to grasp once I've got some less wordy explanations going for me. I'm too kinesthetic to try to learn system RPs on my own and need someone to walk me through it the first time around, if anyone has the time for it.

I'm interested, though, like Noir, I might need a bit of extra time to get the system in check. Especially if it's a rotating GM thing. This being contingent upon my being accepted. ;) But I keep seeing this interesting RPs coming up and I don't wanna miss out by not speaking up! XD

Hi, all.

Yes, I'd still be looking for players or co-GMs.  I've run through the char-gen process a few times myself, and it gets a LOT easier if you use the lifepath system for your first characters.  However, I don't think the math works out quite right.

Have questions?  Feel free to ask!  The system is actually quite simple, but the two resolution systems are a little unusual...

After taking a look over the system I think I might be interested in playing :)

I may just have to think of a plot, then  :)  (this was originally in GM's Wanted...)

Any ideas what you might be playing?

Well, given a choice I'd like to play a ratkin, not sure on profession though...

That would be entirely within the scope of the game, although...hmmm.  Given the Ratkin attitude toward property, I'm not sure one would pay them for such!  :)

Heh, Well, maybe I cater to a different crowd? ;) Seriously though, I'll prolly play a sneaky roguey type.

This does not preclude your character from refreshing Vigor and Instinct by partying hard.  :)

We have two others who have mentioned interest (points upthread), so you won't be a lonely little Rat for long, I hope.

Bumpity!

Still waiting for character write-ups or questions from the interested yet confused.  :)
