I'm not in it for the sex, I'm in it for the bug-crunching!

"Lets barbecue us some shrimp!"

Hey, that's a though! Red, are these giant shrimp edible? I mean if we cook them first? Fair's fair, if they get to eat us, we should get to eat them too! Can we have a supply of Jack Daniels sauce somewhere on the base?

CS and OOC threads.

The character thread is only for those of you who have an approved character sheet.
Right now that list is limited to Chrystal. ;)

One of those would do the job! Plasma Cannon.

Well, assuming that Red is taking the ship's commander (which would be sensible for the GM to do), so far we have two humans and no replicants, so be a replicant?

Hmm. Good point. I've been writing up a replicant anyway.

I stopped watching Red Dwarf during season IV. I was great. II was okay, III was bleh, and IV made me wonder why they bothered.

Awww, I thought that was funny!

I mean, if the lobster-things don't have a base included, it explains why they want ours.....

I mentioned as much to someone in a PM, but worth repeating here:
There will be no plasma weapons in this universe.
All weapons will be modernized versions of current day small arms.

Small arms as in handguns or compact m14s?

Military personel would atleast have one rifle to their names.

Small arms includes assault rifles and a whole variety of weapons:

Small arms is a generic term for any weapon that can be correctly operated by one person, so far as I'm aware, as opposed to a squad or crew weapon. Small arms can be taken to include such things as hand grenades, as well as rifles, assault rifles, sub-machine guns, machine pistols and pistols.

My question is, what sort of weaponry are we having?

Personally I find the idea of hand held energy weapons to be laughable. That image of a plasma cannon I posted? That pack on his back would, in reality, contain enough energy for a single shot! Carrying something that big around just to fire it once? Um, no!

HOWEVER, I'm willing to bow to the wishes of the GM on this one.

Eve, if you want laser guns, then go ahead, it won't spoil my enjoyment (although I might be forced to demonstrate the inherent disadvantage of attempting to do damage with something that can be shot right back at you with something I keep in my purse... lol)

Actually I prefer to keep it like I proposed above.
Slightly modernized versions of the weapons we already have today.
I do not want to make their arsenal ridiculously overpowered. The humans and replicants should be at a disadvantage, at least initially.
They will soon find out that all but their highest caliber weapons do not penetrate the aliens exo-skeleton.
Their explosives will do more damage, but they will - initially - be scarce.
