ORIGINAL IDEAS
The Road TripGoing on a road trip is one of my favourite settings, I just love the idea of the open road and a group of friends looking for a good time. What I have in mind is a group of friends around twenty years of age going for a road trip in the United States, Europe or Australia. They will meet people and they will get up to all kinds of mischief. They will be getting high, they will go skinny dipping, they will hook up with people they will never see again and they will have a great time. Sounds like fun, yeah? Then let's head out on the open road while singing to our favourite tune.
I am looking for someone who wants to build on this and create a story that will be fun to explore.
The Strip GameThis could be any kind of strip game, and it could happen in one night or be an on-going thing. Strip poker, truth or dare, strip billiard etc., almost anything goes. Maybe a group of friends are bored and decides to make the game of monopoly more interesting? Maybe there is a TV-show based around playing strip Trivial Pursuit live, where the winner is the one who doesn't end up naked? Maybe there is this Discord-server with an on-going game with real-world consequences? Let's get creative and see what we can come up with.
A College Theatre ProductionThis idea is inspired by the Norwegian student comedy musical "Gullstrupen." The basic plot is a young student who has to choose what of her two talents she will make into a career, singing or blowjobs. There was a lot of talk and promise of sexual acts in the play, leading to a lot of coverage in the media, before the end result wasn't all that shocking after all.
So, over to my idea. I want to write a story where a script like this is being written and then performed, basically go through the all the stages from having the script for the play to actually setting the play up at a theatre. The location will be a liberal-minded American college, but such a production would naturally stir up some controversy. Starting with the student writer(s) having written a play (maybe it started out as a writing experiment or a joke, and it just turned into a good play) they want to produce. They have to find funding, actors and actresses, some faculty member to sponsor them and whatever else goes into a production like this. There will be auditions and rehearsing, but also normal student life with parties and going to classes. The production will be playing at campus, and the actors and actresses will have to deal with life after the play if we choose to continue the story afterwards.
This is the basic outline, kept basic for a reason. I want to carve this out further with a partner, as I find the plotting and building a world together with a partner a lot more fun than doing it all on my own and trying to find someone to play in my little creation.
For more information about this idea.Middle Earth in the modern dayI recently watched the movie
Bright on Netflix, and the setting fascinated me deeply. I would like to create a city like Los Angeles in the movie. A city where you have everything you have in the real world, but we add the fantasy creatures from Middle Earth (elves, dwarfs and orcs) and add some proper tension between the different races. Elves would be on top of the foodchain (elf town would be a rich area), humans and dwarfs in the middle, and orcs on the bottom (having followed the dark lord some 2000 years ago). Orcs would naturally try to get higher on the ladder, in different ways. There would be plenty of hostility towards the orcs from all of the other races. Corruption would run wild in the city, the police would be a brutal bunch hardly any better than the criminals they are fighting, and outside the rich areas of the city life is cheap.
I don't have a story for this one yet, but if you like the idea of playing around in this world send me a message and we can plot something together.
In a small town in the middle of nowhereSee this thread for a bit more information about this idea. The location for this roleplay will be a small town in the middle of nowhere. Just what kind of town it will be we will decide together, but here is my take on it. The town will have seen better days. Around town there will be farmlands, and there will be a proper town center (no malls), but there will also be abandoned industrial buildings around the railroad tracks. The railroad tracks are important, they are on the outskirts on town, and if you choose to cross the railroad tracks you are choosing the side of the freaks. The freaks are the outcasts of the town, at least among the youths. They are a mixture, everything from metalheads to stoners to small time criminals. But not all bad people. On the other side of the tracks are the "normal" youth, with the football players and cheerleaders leading the pack. The football team is quite good, and kind of the pride of the town, so you know the football players will be full of themselves.
And these are the people we will be playing, as well as some of the other people around town. I want to focus on the youth of the town (17-18 years to early twenties, older high school students and those who didn't leave town after graduating high school). Things to delve into would be the feeling of isolation from living in such an isolated place, the divide between the freaks and the jocks, but also them being young and getting into all kinds of trouble. So we would be playing them do whatever they are doing, just what they will get up to we will of course discuss, or we could just go with it and see where things might end up.
When it comes to sex and nudity I'm thinking the town will a bit more liberal than what one expects for such a town. I'm not talking orgies in the streets of course, just that sex and nudity isn't that big of a deal. Like, people have sex, and that is just the way it is. And no double-standard when it comes to guys and girls and hooking up, basically girls wouldn't get crap for doing what guys would be the hero among his friends for. I hope this makes sense, I've been told that even though things seems all logical in my head, that might not be the case, so if this isn't making any sense just wack me over the head with something (preferably something soft) and ask me what I'm talking about. That goes for everything in this post by the way.
Empire RecordsCan also be found here:
https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=268780.0This is an idea based on the movie
Empire Records from 1995. To sum up the movie quickly the movie revolves around an independent music store about to be bought by a music chain. We follow the employees (young people, high school students to a few years out of high school) through a day where they are trying to save the store from being bought, while dealing with all kinds of other problems (like a has-been signing autographs, shoplifters, and personal problems of different sorts).
What I wanna recapture is the spirit of the place. A place that is a hang-out for the local youth, where the employees come in early to study or just hang out before they start their shift. A place where the rules aren't enforced heavily. In short, the best place in the world to work when you are around 19 years old.
What is important to note is that this isn't first come. I will be a bit picky about this one, and would rather not start a story unless I find someone I really wanna do this with. If I find two I wanna do the story with I will start two separate stories.
These are the most important things for a possible partner:
1. You have to enjoy writing for multiple main characters, both female and male. I also expect you to write for random NPCs when needed.
2. You have to put story before smut. This will not be a smut-fest. There will probably be smut, but this is going to be story first.
3. You have to have some knowledge about music, as the characters all will have an interest in music. I'm no expert myself, so no need to be an expert. Even though the story will be set during the 1990s I don't mind using music from all eras. As in a band from 2017 can be an up and coming band in the mid-90s, so even if you don't have much interest in 90s music we can use the music you are interested in instead.
I have already mentioned the story will take place during the 1990s. The reason is that this will be before Internet made the record store obsolete. This is a time when your CD collection told the world who you were, or who you wanted to be. This is a time when new music was discovered through friends, knowledgeable music store employees, or music magazines. The mixed tape is still a big thing, mostly on cassette since most people don't have access to a computer.
The store will be key, even though things will happen outside of the store as well. The store is where people meet and where they work. The one thing they all have in common. The employees in the movie were a mixture of different kind of youth, and I want the same in our story.
Also, the most important thing, is to have fun. We both need to have fun, and create characters and situations that will be fun to write.
Baker StreetInspired by the song Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty.
"Baker Street"
Winding your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well, another crazy day
You'll drink the night away
And forget about everything
This city desert makes you feel so cold
It's got so many people, but it's got no soul
And it's taken you so long
To find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything
You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're trying, you're trying now
Another year and then you'd be happy
Just one more year and then you'd be happy
But you're crying, you're crying now
Way down the street there's a light in his place
He opens the door, he's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything
He's got this dream about buying some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one-night stands
And then he'll settle down
In some quiet little town
And forget about everything
But you know he'll always keep moving
You know he's never gonna stop moving
'Cause he's rolling, he's the rolling stone
And when you wake up, it's a new morning
The sun is shining, it's a new morning
And you're going, you're going home
Baker Street, located in some anonymous big city, is filled with dive bars, pawnshops, sleazy strip joints, even sleazier motels and dodgy looking restaurants. The people are mostly down on their luck, or just searching for something they probably won't find there. It's a miserable place, and the cheap apartments are filled with all kinds of weird, and sometimes dangerous, people.
I don't have a plot in mind, I just love this song and I get this vision of a place like the one I just described when I listen to the song. I'm not looking for a smut-driven roleplay, I want to explore this vision I have in my head with someone who enjoys character development, plot and the darker side of humanity.
Post-apocalyptic settingI don't have anything specific in mind for this one as of yet, but since I do love me a post-apocalyptic setting I'm throwing it into the mix. Zombies, weather out of control, alien invaders, disease, World War III - whatever made the shit hit the fan I could be up for it.
What I truly love about the post-apocalyptic setting is imagining how the world looks after the disaster has struck. What kind of society have emerged? How is nature and wildlife affected? How do people survive? Questions like that I love answering, and I love building the world together with my writing partner. So world-building is a huge yes!
I'm leaving this short intentionally, as I want to start from scratch with a potential partner. That way we can design the world just the way we want it from scratch, or just use a setting we both know and want to explore further.
These next two ideas are still under construction, but if you like the idea of them I would love to develop them further with you.Summer of LoveThis will be a roleplay set during the Summer of Love in 1967 in San Francisco. A city filled with hippies, free love and lots and lots of drugs.
Paranormal P.I. in San FranciscoI've been wanting to play a paranormal P.I. in San Francisco for some time. Partly because I want to do a roleplay set in San Francisco, partly because I want to do a P.I.-themed roleplay, and partly because I think the paranormal element will bring something else than the traditional P.I.-theme to the table.
