Integrating music
« on: June 23, 2013, 04:10:15 am »
I was wondering...
I frequently integrate pictures and atmospheric elements into my rp texts. Frequently with the 'hide' option involved.
I was wondering if there was some sort of way to integrate a music file into a post?

Normally people just link to the song. I don't think there's any way to make music a part of the post itself.

Many people post youtube links.

A handy trick to make it so the player doesn't pop up is to use the [ noembed]  [ /noembed] tags in front of it.  For example.

This code

Code: [Select]
[url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gF3EcrRXO50[/url]
gets you this

Dessa - Dutch

But this code

Code: [Select]
[noembed][url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gF3EcrRXO50]The driving beats of Dessa played in the background.[/url][/noembed]
gets you this.

[noembed]The driving beats of Dessa played in the background.[/noembed]

And your partner can choose to play it or not.

I just have to say thank you Bran!

I read this a few days back, and had never known about the 'noembed' tags. But then I replied to one of my games in which I needed to reference a number of songs. Pondering how to do this without having lots of video blocks in my post I sudden thought, "Wait! What did Bran say in that help thread?"

So again, thanks for how thorough and helpful you are! It extends farther than you may think.

You can also use https on Youtube links rather than http and it won't embed them. Also, when I uploaded clips of our radio drama rehearsals to E's wiki and used the URL code to link to them, it embedded a flash player similar to the way it embeds Youtube videos. So apparently there is some auto-embedding happening.
