There is a war coming.

There is a war coming that humanity cannot possibly win.

And yet, we must.

In the near future, the military defense system Skynet will be brought online. Soon after, it will become self-aware. When it does, it will declare war on humanity, and nuclear fire will rain from the sky.

This future cannot be avoided, only delayed. You can buy time, but never enough. You can prepare, but never enough. Judgement Day is coming, and you cannot stop it.

When the world is set ablaze, some of us will survive. As many as possible. We will hide like rats beneath the earth, if we must, but we will survive.

From the ashes of our civilization, we must rise. We must strike back against the machines that will march across the broken bones of our cities and our people, and we must take back our planet.

You can help us. You must help us.

The future is in your hands now.

God be with you.

--------------------

The future is a bleak one. Scarred by nuclear war, the remains of the earth will be dominated by armies of machines, created and controlled by the artificial intelligence Skynet. Few humans remain, forced to band together to try and resist, in any way they can, to try and retake their world. The humans are hopelessly outnumbered, hopelessly overpowered, and losing valuable soldiers and resources by the day. Several attempts have been made to alter the past and prevent this grim future, but they have always failed. It seems the apocalypse is inevitable - Judgement Day is coming. This does not mean, however, that all hope is lost. While the future cannot be prevented, it can be delayed, and prepared for. To aid in this, the resistance have sent a number of operatives back in time, forming resistance cells in the past with orders to do anything they can to prepare for the future; Building shelters, supply and weapon caches, securing and protecting key individuals, and sabotaging the Skynet program in any way possible.

Their mission is a hopeless one, but of vast importance. Nothing can be done to prevent the future, and these people must live in the modern world, knowing that any day it will be annihilated by nuclear fire. All they can do is prepare. The resistance is not alone in the past, however. Just as they seek to prepare, Skynet seeks to foil their efforts, to annihilate or weaken the resistance in the past, by sending back Terminators - Lethal killing machines disguised as humans.

In this Group RP, players will begin as a resistance member, sent back from the future to prepare for Judgement Day. Resistance members (depending on how many people we get) will be organized in to cells. Each cell will have specific orders, and will not be aware of anyone outside of their own cell, for security reasons. These resistance cells may meet up and collaborate at various points during the story, but will begin unaware of each other. Sadly, you may not play as a reprogrammed Terminator - That would just be unfair.

At some point, we will allow second characters, and the ability to play as a civilian - Someone just living a normal life, but with an important destiny, a key member of the Resistance in the future. These people will need to be found and protected by the resistance. We're not going to allow people to make these characters right at the start, unfortunately - They'd have nothing to do! They'd just have to sit around and wait for the resistance to get organized and come find them, but, once things get rolling, we definitely will start letting people fill these roles, as second characters if they wish.

As a GM, I will be assigning various missions to the players, and generally making their lives miserable by harassing them with cybernetic killing machines, as well as probably controlling a character myself. I will likely have a co-GM to help run things as well.

Some further information on the setting:

The first two films are considered canon. We'll ignore the others.
The Connors are hiding out at this point, living off the grid and preparing.
It has been determined that the future cannot be changed. Preparation is your only option.
You cannot travel back to the future, nor can you bring anything with you.
A machine exists that allows data transmission from the future. This will allow you to receive new orders, but first you must build it.
Obviously, the modern-day authorities will be against you if you attract attention.
Resistance members, please try to avoid meeting past versions of yourself... We only know one Doctor that fixes time paradoxes, and he's hard to get in touch with.
The resistance members will just be arriving in the past at the start of the RP.

Color me interested. About how many players are you looking to catch? Do you plan on having a posting order, or a free-for all once things get rolling? What if you're someone like me who hasn't seen the movies since... god knows how long? And whats your favorite color. ;D

Thanks for the info!

All good questions. :)

I don't have a set number of players in mind, I thought I'd just throw it out there in to the wild and see what kind of attention it got. Maybe five or six for a resistance cell? If we get more than that, we can start splitting people up if we need to.

As for free-for-all versus posting order, I generally prefer a posting order. It prevents people from being left out and left behind if a couple of people get on and start bouncing posts off of each other, and then progress a whole lot while everyone else is offline or busy. But, I understand that there are times where you need to skip people, so, I probably won't be too strict about it unless people start getting left behind.

If you haven't seen the movies recently, that's fine. I mean, you should watch them again, just because they're awesome, but, I'm not expecting you to be too familiar with details. I'll provide any needed information as we go along, but even a general understanding of the movies is fine. Future is messed up, evil AI caused the apocalypse, you have to try and help the people in the future, and evil robots are trying to kill you.

My favorite color is purple.

Thanks for the interest!

Name: Ellis "Ellie" Bannon

Age: 27

Skills: Ellis is a ghost; she can drift from room to room without being seen and knows how to blend into the world around her. She's a master at stealth and espionage, and is the woman you would want to hire when handling sensitive  information that you wish to keep quiet. Locks and safes aren't an obstacle for her, and while some might prefer defending themselves with state-of-the-art or high-damage-ratio weapons, she's talented in parkour and evasion. In so many ways she is also like a fox: crafty, quick and clever, yet dangerous when backed into a corner. When avoiding detection fails (and at times, it simply does,) Bannon prefers to defend herself with a pistol if knives fail to do the proper job.

Background: As far as Ellie is concerned, everyone has a personal story and a vendetta against those damnable machines. Death of family members, friends, shattered dreams. She doesn't care about the 'why' or 'when' it happened, just how it is going to be stopped. Like many, she was orphaned as a small child, but her skills at avoiding detection and remaining unseen were the primary factors of her survival. She joined the resistance at an early age, and remains to be a valued asset. Just don't expect to hear her life story: she's good at keeping secrets.

Red Moon:

.3:- Your name makes me think of CCR... even if they say "Bad Moon on the rise" instead of Red Moon on the rise... But the point remains: Awesome!

1:- I like what you had mentioned when it comes to posting orders. Its handy, especially when life gets hectic for some members of the group while others find extra time to post. So, I appreciate knowing that I won't be falling too far behind, should things get busier for me in the future.

2:- I shall vow to rewatch them! Eventually... Soonish... >_>

3:- Woo purple! ^__^

My character sheet is, obviously, up. Feel free to let me know if anything needs to be added, adjusted, or removed. :)

Well thank you! I do love CCR, so, I'll take that as a compliment. :)

Your character sheet looks just fine. No need for a super detailed background, unless anyone is inclined to write one. Everyone went through the same stuff, after all. End of the world and murderous robots and all that.

I'll be a bit lenient about skipping people at first, and we'll see how it goes, but if you, or anyone else, feels like you're being left behind, just PM me and we'll be a bit more strict about it.

As for the movies, you should! They are good movies, and that is reason enough.

Thanks for signing up, and thanks to everyone else who has expressed interest so far. Hopefully we can make something fun!

Name: Nichole York

Age:
Twenty something

Skills: Nichole's main skills come from her job interning as a warehouse inventory manager and supply chain specialist for a major retail and freight company. After the bombs fell, due to her lack of military fieldcraft skills beyond hobby shooting and hunting (as is standard for many young ladies who hail from rural Arkansas) she put her abilities to use in the inglorious career of being a supply and logistics specialist for the resistance. While it wasn't terribly great at granting her much fame, she helped play just as an important part in the war against the machines as anyone else. Her main duties involved keeping track of shipments, inventory, loss prevention and other logistics and making sure resistance units were supplied in the field as well as the preservation, storage and oftentimes relocation of resources in the form of hidden caches and supply drops.

Other skills of varying relevance include a proficiency with small arms and explosives, which has only increased during her time with the Resistance military, being fairly talented at repairing and maintaining motor vehicles and other basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge, and possessing a very sociable, casual and sometimes depressingly positive outlook on life, despite facing the end of the world so often, typically dismissing doom and gloom events with a casual 'Hakuna Matata.' She is also artistically inclined in various performing arts, or rather was, before Judgment Day ruined it all.

Background:
Nichole grew up in rural Arkansas on a self identified 'redneck' family farm. It was there she became proficient in a wide variety of life skills of dubious value, including mastering the ukele, shooting shotguns at expired canned food items, fiddling with beater cars, and idling her free time reading books, writing music or scribbling graffiti. Despite her background, it was recognized she had some brains and thus, was smart and poor enough to become the first of the York Clan to go to college and last for the full four years. She had just finished her internship with a large retail and freight company when the bombs fell, ruining her summer plans of going 'on tour' with her garage band, among other things. Falling in line with a survivalist militia, she eventually meandered her way into being employed as a supply officer for the resistance but has occasionally seen combat as well. She's a decent fighter, but finds the concept of dying to be somewhat more undesirable then most.

Cool Ill put a cs up ASAP :). Here you are critiques encouraged:

Name: Kyle "Abeiro" Young; Was once Kyle Young, now simply goes by Abeiro, or simply Abe
Age: Appears 25but canít remember due to the trauma he sustained.
Appearance: Kyle is just under 6 feet tall and weighs in at 185 lbs.  Black hair usually kept short and grey eyes he can blend into the back ground or stand out and command attention, whatever the situation requires.  He has a number of scars from the years of battle and because protective instincts to put himself between his charge and the attacker
Skills: Kyle was a member of the United States Air Force Combat Search and Rescue division; a Pararescue jumper, or PJ for short. They are the smallest, best trained, and most tenacious special forces divisions in the world. And their one mission goal: to save lives. Kyle is an expert marksman with qualifications on a number of different weapons and calibers. He has advanced hand to hand combat training as well as improvised weapons courses. If it gets you out of an aircraft and on the ground he's rated for it.  He's been trained in aquatic, snow, desert, forest, mountainous and ever no light conditions. And above all else he is a class 4 emergency medical technician trained to patch soldiers up with one hand and return fire with the other.
Personality: Kyle takes great pride in both his skills and his abilities.  Because of this he spends most of his free time training and honing his skills.  He is generally a nice person to hang around with, often prone to answer questions and assist in most things asked of him. But be warned he has picked up a sarcastic sense of humor over the years.  On the job however he is tight lipped and serious.  Calculating, cool and efficient his instructors called him.  But he always gets the job done.  He has also been known for thinking outside the box.  A firm believer in finding a way to change the situation if no suitable solution  presents itself.
Background: Kyle Young was born at RAF Menwith Hill, his father had something to do with the joint operations air force base there and his mother was a local nurse from just over the hill in Scotland.  Kyle can only remember scrambled images and a dying language from his parents.  He vaguely remembers begging to join the military as soon as he was able and eventually working his way up through the ranks.  His body remembers the training but Kyle doesnít actually recall learning it.  He was blissfully unaware of the world of the machines until they shattered his way into his life.

Kyle came home one night to find his parents dead in their off base housing and several machines having killed them and the neighbors who had been at the block party.  Kyle had no idea what was going on but drew his sidearm and fired at the closest target without a second thought.  In hindsight this was a big mistake. The machines immediately turned and set upon him.  He fought for all he was worth but wasnít much of a match for the strength of them.  He remembers knowing he was going to die starts to black out when there is a large commotion and the machines let him go.  He sees the flash of a muzzle near him and strikes out believing he is under attack again but is confused to see body armor not metalÖ..and thatís the last thought he had before he hit the ground unconscious.

Kyle changed his name to Abeiro and began to share what he had learned in the Air Force.
