The Expert class has ten skills they could make great courtesans, commoners likely are common harlots.

I suggest: Appraise, Bluff, Craft, Diplomacy, Knowledge (nobles), Perception, Perform, Profession (courtesan), Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand (for passing messages and tokens of affection).

There you go a well versed Courtesan.

Knowledge: local would help a lot as well.  Disguise never hurts if you are the discreet type.

Okay I think I got this she is an Adept/Expert a business minded former master prostitute who runs a moneylending house in the city, her Profession (moneylender) is at +18 she is good at it. Basically good and fair terms on loans for those who may have issues with getting credit based on being employed or in a craft or profession or trade. She also invested and invests as a business in start-ups say Bob the smith wants to start a smithy and he is good at it she might front the guild fee, set-up the shop and give starting funds in return for either a return on that investment in interest OR say a permanent 10% share of the business (in return for no repayment otherwise and a line of credit for expansion after ten years).  Terms may include if they fail to repay indentured servitude on terms to repay with a penalty or slavery if that is all the credit they have is themselves.

Leadership will cover her employees and not sure if she will take a cohort, if you want to make one up fine but its a lot of work and well it may not be needed. Could I just add more followers for those ranks in Cohort or make the Cohort just a high level follower with an NPC class?

I'm not going to have a base of operations anyway save a space in the Temple of Abadar for her interests with some staff present 24/7.

Slowly learning how to update the tables and such on the main wiki page.  I added two columns for cohorts, since I felt mine was important and others may feel the same about theirs.

The link, for anyone who may have forgotten: http://elliquiy.com/wiki/Taldor

Good idea. I did a little clean-up, and put in cells with "UKNOWN" for everyone. So if anyone knows their cohort's name and/or description, they can just highlight and replace the appropriate "UNKNOWN".  I'd like to reorder the columns, but of course that's a pain.

Hey Phaia -

It looks like for your rolls you did 5d6, keep the three highest, add 3. That actually gives you scores ranging from 6-21. What you want here is 5d5, keep the three highest, add 3. That keeps it in the 3-18 range. The "add 3" part offsets the using d5's instead of d6's -- it's the same as rerolling 1's.

Can't help but feel a bit overwhelemed and not sure where to start with faction building/'generation. Have ideas forming but I feel like I'm taking too long to get things done.

I'm shooting for level 14(12 cohort), and since I am really totally new to faction building,  I might only worry about my characters' mercenary battalion as far as factions go. What I was thinking is that I could build any NPC anyone needs, and by any NPC, I mean build a ton of them, as many as needed for the campaign. Tell me the type of NPC you want and I'll do the work of building it. Does that sound good?

Looking at the recent Stormford entry, I can't help but feel a little intimidated and alot of "Wow, holy shit"

As I have noted, if you want to aim for level 14, you need to put in some setting/backstory/worldbuilding work. Coming in at lower level is meant for if you don't really feel like that. I'm not going to give you maximum level for crunching numbers for people, if that's what you mean. If you're feeling intimidated, nothing requires you to have to make something especially complex, honestly. You can go fairly simple, as long as you at least give me some details, hooks, and involvement to work with, you'll get something out of it. Though not topping out.

As far as other stuff..

Ruby: That sounds all perfectly fine, though I was going to say, the Arshea priestess seemed like it worked just fine and difficulty free, for example. I don't want you to frustrate yourself though, so, if you like your current idea, run with it. I would suggest something like maybe picking out an npc patron from ones getting listed up or something like that if you like though, and talking that out with me. That or I'll maybe give you double starting wealth or something if you're going to go all npc classes. Which I presume everyone else will be cool with. If you want your cohort to be all npc classes, that is also fine.

Kc: Stromford writeup looks cool as it stands now.

Phaia: Courtesan-ly type skills would probably be something like indeed profession, performance in things like dance or singing or both, knowledge local couldn't hurt, and appraise would help you run a business, unless you have bookkeeping minions to handle that for you (which you might), bluff, diplomacy and sense motive are all useful in social maneuverings besides.

Well the reason I suggested the NPC building is mainly because I am fairly experience with it, have a ton of free time, and enjoy doing it.

When building a faction, I want to do the full work, have a good solid in-depth description, but being new, I'm unsure of that.

What other world-building would be possible beside faction building?

I'll happily do whichever is wanted and needed, I'm just doubting my own ability to create good strong in-depth faction builds.

So then it really isn't a Pathfinder game. ;) [jk, btw I hope you know that is a joke]

Either way though, there are ways of getting him into why he would be involved involved in the sociopolitical world.

That was just his backstory in a nutshell, not what the character is about. Remember he still comes from a lesser known family. And still carries the name, there are ultimate reasons as to why he would get involved.

Alright, well, if you want to go into more depth on what the character is about and what you feel they would be getting up to in setting, why they are involved, take a swing at it.

Aye, already planned on a good background.  ;D

But I want to do the work needed for level 14 and wondering what else is available beside house/faction building, if possible.

Just as a general note as far as some of the people I'm talking with over pm, for seriously, you have time to work on your characters, I'm not going to demand everything be done tomorrow or something like that. Myself and others can fill time just fine with setting stuff, I still have house and organization write-ups I'm going to put up, suchlike. Don't stress it. It's a more involved game, so I certainly want you to be able to take some time here if you want to take some time.

I have no issue with double wealth for Ruby's character.

Also, I'll post House Stromford and link it to the site, again asking Ebb to do the pretty formatting.

EDIT:  Linked the page correctly.  Again, slowly learning.

Just as a note, EFA, level 14 is the absolute tops of the scale. Canonically the Grand Prince of the whole Empire is level 14, and I think that a small handful of the heads of the biggest Houses are up there too. From what I've seen Kolbrandr hasn't made any NPC's who are higher than 14, even the major movers and shakers. So far my guy's level 11, and with gestalt characters I'm finding that's plenty powerful. So you might want to relax your standards a little and aim for something lower.

Oh, and I too have no issue with Ruby's character having massive wealth. I think that sounds like a fun angle to take on this kind of game, where financial power can be far more important than damage per combat round. But then again, I liked the wandering judge idea too.

Good points, Ebb.  With you level eleven and me level twelve, I daresay anything higher than 10 is a pretty unrealistic goal.  I will say that there is a bit of a market for building NPCs, as I have written far more than I've built.

There are going to be a couple of dudes at 16, as far as it goes. Well, the one at least, simply to have someone of that level floating around for certain potential logistical things.

You can reroll that, to say. It's +10 or below.

You can also just roll 5d6 seven times, keep the highest 3 and reroll 1s on invisible castle or something, if you prefer and feel you have been hexed by that other roller, as far as doing the reroll you have coming.
