Accepted Characters:Character Name:
Captain Peter SimonCharacter Age:
6'2", short dark hair and hazel eyes. Fit, toned body.Character Role/Occupation:
Captain in the Roht Marine ForcesPersonality:
Peter is a man with a problem though he'll never admit it. He expects discipline in those he commands and can be very by the book in most matters, not afraid to punish those who break rules. But he isn't unapproachable, more then willing to hear out the thoughts and concerns of those under his command.Character Background:
Peter grew up in an Off-World Space Station. He saw a myriad of people, of all walks of life, and the ever present presence of the Federation Peace Keepers. Journeying among the stars and making a better life for himself was always a desire of his and he spent a lot of his time down near the Docks, watching all sorts of ships, learning as much as he could about them.
At the first chance he got, he joined the Federation Marines - at the age of 16 - and went through 2 years of intense training before becoming a Grunt at the age of 18. It wasn't long before he saw his first action and was constantly in action after that, distinguishing himself from amongst his peers and quickly establishing himself as a leader. Promotions soon followed and he was soon leading troops into combat.
It was during an Uprising in the Mars Colonies that Peters life changed. A patrol went badly when they were ambushed and Peter was wounded. He was evacuated and treated in a medical facility off world where he quickly became addicted to Red-Gold, a medication much like the 20th-Centuries Morphine. Once back in action, he found himself stealing Red-Gold from the medics and buying it on the black market. His addiction was soon discovered but to save face, he chose to retire from the service instead of taking a dishonorable discharge.
He quickly found work with the Roht Marines who often overlooked such minor discretions when hiring former soldiers into their ranks. He quickly re-established himself as a born leader and found a new source of Red-Gold from the medic in his very own squad.Other Notes:
Lieutenant Vivica RheynsCharacter Age:
5’9, Slender Figure Character Role/Occupation:
In a word, Vivica is content. Having lived a life of fear and survival, she’s now perfectly happy to revel in all the little luxuries and comforts that she can find. She still trains on the fire-range and in the gym, in case she falls out of favour with her employers once again, but mostly works at making sure she continues to stay on good terms with the company. This makes her a person that’s willing to side-step the law, just so long as it benefits either Roht or her squad. She’s not the sort that will engage in anything extreme however such as torture or the like…Character Background:
Vivica has a fairly lacklustre background, born to a middle-class background by two average people. Her younger years followed a theme similar to most where she attended the roller-coast ride that was school, making and losing friends, before finally packing her bags and seeking her own lot in life, away from her family.
She paid for most of her later studies through borrowing money and part-time jobs before finally being roped into a deal with Medicore, a large corporation which promised to sponsor her in return for a ten year (no questions asked) contract with them. It seemed like a mostly harmless and beneficial agreement at the time but Vivica was quick to learn the gory details of the deal once she finished her studies. For a few years, the medic had to engage in a number of questionable activities, from light misdemeanours such as providing aid to mercenaries, to more serious crimes like participating in non-consensual human-experimentation or providing just enough aid to allow subjects of torture to remain conscious and alive.
She eventually snapped and, despite a nondisclosure clause, reported Medicore’s activities to the Federation. Her case was quickly thrown out however thanks to the deal she initially made with her former employers, with the courts slapping her with a fine for violating the terms of her agreement. Vivica soon found herself thrown into destitution and on the run from hired killers before the company Roht picked her up, offering both security and payment for her debts.
Since then, Vivica has been assigned to a squad under Captain Peter Simon, a mostly quiet life except for a few indiscretions here and there. She’s grown accustomed to allowing a few slip-ups in the rules however as long as they remain minor…
: Dr. August "Gus" CarrinoRank/Occupation
: Scientific Researcher, Alien Animal Histology and Physiology, with emphasis on MyologyAge
: 42Physical Description
: Tall and of moderate build, with a short-cut nest of black curls and a rapidly greying beard (something he's somewhat self-conscious of). Usually wears cargo jeans, t-shirts, and a vest covered in numerous pouches.Personality
: Curious, eager to explore and try new things, but otherwise quiet, pensive, and introverted. He's be friendly and willing to chat, but he's never happier then when he's alone in a laboratory, doing sweet, sweet science. Background Information and History
: Gus was born and raised in Boston back on Earth, growing up in the northern region of the great East American megalopolis, a sprawling patchwork of cities that stretched from Miami in the south to Augusta in the north. He attended several colleges in New England, bouncing between disciplines until settling on biology and -- eventually -- earning his PhD in animal histophysiology, with an emphasis on xenobiology. When he was 29, Gus was hired by Roht Industries as a full time scientific researcher in xenobiophysiology. With gratuitous funding, he's spent years on alien planets, studying and experimenting on all varieties of alien animals. After hearing that Sepik Colony possessed an uncategorized species with a five-chambered heart -- remarkably similar to the specimens he was currently studying -- Gus requested an immediate transfer to collect and study this evolutionarily analogous animal.
Gus was never a family man, a fact he's never been ashamed to admit. His work requires moving between planets every few years, living in every manner of hostile environment, hardly an appropriate manner to raise children. Besides, all of the time and money he'd have to spend on a family is better used, in his opinion, on his research. That's not to say he hasn't been in serious relationships before, but they've always inevitably taken a second-seat to his work.
He has a variety of hobbies and interests that he rigorously pursues in his free time, including reading and writing (he'll publish a novel one day, just you wait), marksmanship, hiking, swimming, "thrash" music (performing and listening), and pencil drawing (with
pencils, not drawings of

5'7, Athletic/Slender figure, natural red hairCharacter Role/Occupation:
Aurora is a person who has often been described as clinical, to-the-point, cold and sometimes even emotionless. She has trouble emphasizing with other people's perspectives which is sometimes mistaken for a dismissive attitude towards her peers as well as arrogance. She is however quick to analyze situations and can make important and well reasoned decisions very fast. Aurora can be tough to emotionally approach outside of combat/work related situations, isn't known for her sense of humor and seemingly
doesn't have a need for close friends.Character Background:
Aurora had grown up into a military family and has somewhat of a reputation to uphold. Her father, her mother and her older brother are serving different corporations in various military related roles. Without any hesitation, Aurora was lead into a life in the military. After finishing school, she attended a private military academy where she was trained for planetary exploration and reconnaissance. In her 'own' time, she studied the basics of Military Spatial Analysis particularly relating to the design and layouts of (military or otherwise) off-world compounds, outposts and bases. Aside from her training that she received at Roht Industries as well as standard exploration missions, Aurora was involved with the design and construction process of two off-world outposts maintained by the Roht Industries, though not on planet Sepik.
Due to her experience in forward reconnaissance and long range combat, she was commanded to assist the expedition to the Sepik Colony. She hasn't really come to know her fellow team members as that well, except by face, name, rank and role.Other Notes:
It is unknown if Aurora is involved in any relationship(s).
Barely 6'6", bald head (shaven), granite colored eyes, tanned skin, physically fit.Character Role/Occupation:
Heavy Weapons SpecialistPersonality:
Anvictus is very straightforward and will bluntly say what is on his mind when asked, preferring this rather than to beat around the bush and pretty something up with words. He will do whatever it takes to complete a mission, but if an order requires him to abandon or doom even a handful of his fellow man then he will go against that order. He leans towards the strong, silent type, with the occasional quip here and there, but will otherwise only speak when spoken to or if he thinks his thoughts are important enough to voice. His weapon of choice is the heavy machine gun, his thinking behind that being that the bigger and louder the gun, the more likely he will draw enemy fire off of his teammates and will even stand out in open ground to accomplish this.Character Background:
Anvictus grew up on a planet far on the fringes of the known galaxy, and as such the planet was ripe for crime and corruption. Even within the police forces that were meant to protect those innocent of crimes were corrupted, using their positions to squeeze everything they could from the citizens. Fights and the sounds of gunfire was an everyday occurrence, murder something to merely shrug at before going on with ones day and constantly struggling just to make the bare minimum despite the unfairness of the Government and police force that practically ruled the planet.
This is the kind of world Anvictus grew up in, and it was here that his hatred towards those who exploits the masses developed. There was very little he could do growing up, being just a child and then a teen going through the motions of growing up, but upon his eighteenth birthday he signed on to join with the same military forces who exploited the people, but unknown to them he had a plan. He worked hard during Basic, pushing himself past any limits he had and then some. Soon he was inducted into actual service, where he then rose to the position of a heavy weapons specialist and was assigned to a platoon. It was here that he truly shown, utilizing the various heavy arms assigned to him during each mission, though he was truly devastating with a HMG.
This changed one day, however, when during a mission to suppress a riot, he and his platoon were put into a choke point and were ordered to keep any and all hostiles that tried to pass through. With the fact that Anvictus despised the military he served and it's actions, he openly defied this command. Instead of firing upon the civilians of the planet he instead turned his sights upon his superiors and fired upon those who were once his comrades. Ultimately the rebellion failed, and Anvictus was being hunted as a deserted and a traitor, so he fled the planet and joined on with the Roht Marine Forces under the assumption that they wouldn't dig into his past or force him into a similar position as what happened on his homeplanet.
Stewart Mathias FullerCharacter Age:
30 yearsCharacter Sex:
6'6”, Solid build of mostly muscle, green eyes, hair cut very short since military enrolment.Character Role/Occupation:
Stewart is independent and confident. He considers rules to be more of a suggestion, and will try to get around them when he feels it is necessary. He always tries to rely upon himself only, so that he wont get into bad habits where he needs other people to bail him out of a bad situation. That said, he can be more than a little abrasive, never shy to tell people what is really on his mind. If you want someone to tell you what you want to hear, he's not the best guy to be around. But if you want an honest opinion, he'll give it to you... even if its not exactly what you want hear said.Character Background:
Stewart was born on earth to a lower class family. They didn't have much, but Stewart was doing well enough for his own future. Thanks to his size and natural athleticism, he was well on his way to getting a full ride scholarship at some prestigious university or another. That all got thrown out of the window though, as Stewart was arrested multiple times for petty crimes, like drunk and disorderly conduct, as well as taking part in multiple street fights. He wasn't in a gang, he just liked fighting. He became something of a natural at it, and after losing his scholarship offers because of a building criminal record, he got a job working as a bouncer in sleezy clubs. It wasn't rich work, by any means, but it kept him on his feet for a good while, and left him with enough spare money to take lessons in martial arts. His favorites were western boxing and judo.
He was only 22 when he started trying to go pro as a mixed martial artist, but after only 3 fights, it was impossible. Nobody would fight him anymore. His coaches said that he was just too strong and too violent in the cage, a painful combination. Since nobody would agree to fight him at low levels, then nobody from a top end organization could see what he was capable of, which meant the opportunity was closed for him. It seemed, from his own point of view, that Stewart would end up being just more lower class in the world, just like where he came from, and he started up again bouncing clubs and bars. Gradually, as he got a bit more successful, Stewart started getting offers for higher class places. Hell, some nights he even worked a bar where there weren't even any strippers. To him, that was moving up in the world, even if the scenery got a little more boring.
Everything turned around, though, when he got into a messy fist fight with a couple of drunks who had been hassling an older man at one of the fancier places he was bouncing. He ended up killing one of the two, and would have been charged with man slaughter. As it turned out, though, the older man who was being harassed was a high level mercenary commander with military ties. The commander pulled a few strings after talking with Stewart, and got him a job training as a soldier instead of spending fifteen years in prison. He went through a sort of mercenary 'boot camp', finding himself amused when the drill officers berated him, and rather enjoying the combat training.
Stewart spends most of his free time either working out or - something that he will never admit to doing – playing piano. The one none athletic and/or combative thing that he seems to have a knack for is the piano. He's a big fan of Billy Joel (like both of his parents), and whenever he gets some alone time on leave, he can spend ours sitting in front of a keyboard.
Eben BlackCharacter Age:
6'7" tall. Pale. Long, black hair; grey/blue eyes. Angular jawline, long (vertically down his face) nose. When not wearing formal uniform wears heavy pleather (to be reinforced not shiny) coat. Character Role/Occupation:
Engineer (Civil Engineering degree with an emphasis in explosives, for mining etc.)Personality:
Mr. Black is soft-spoken but affable; while not "outgoing" he is easy to talk to and a good listener. He is a very empathetic person interested in the plight of others and reserving of judgement in the majority of cases. Always one to have advice but rarely one to offer it without being asked, Eben's usual expression is a slight smile. Character Background:
The son of a spice merchant, Eben grew up with liberal-arts aspirations permeating his cushioned life on Earth-- however, in his late teens he became more and more exposed to the harsh realities of colonists living on the outskirts of humanity and their struggle. Having grown up in a spacious home he felt that urban squalor and overpopulation were great issues facing humanity, and when he went to university he decided to major in civil engineering to one day help design and build the infrastructure that would allow for even great waves of migration and more space for everyone to live happy, healthy lives.
Of course, it couldn't last; after interning with a number of companies late in university he realized the job of the civil engineer was in practicality to maximize the profit of the corporations. Rather than become a "lackey," he held on to his ideals but changed his path: rather than serving colonists directly he would fight to defend them. Of course, he still wound up serving a corporation; that was how he could get to the edge of space, blaze the trail and ensure its safety. In his senior year of school he'd swung heavily towards a new-found interest: explosives. Taking five years to graduate instead of four he came away with a specialized degree in explosives which, while intended to be used for clearing shafts and making way for roads through mountains, in practice could be applied to general destruction.
It was with this specialization and ideal he found a place in Roht Industries personal military as an engineer, knowledgeable in both the pertinent infrastructure of frontier worlds and how to lay waste to vast swaths of land. Despite his idealism he's seen combat before, and has a good record on the range with pistols-- even if he hasn't wracked up many kills himself, generally leaving that to the professionals as they covered him doing his job.Other Notes:
He has ideological objections to cybernetic implants/body modification, but he doesn't give people shit about that unless they ask politely.
