Methods of Murder

Polar Bear Dip

Pushed into the frozen pond by the murderers, this method of murder would be rather cold indeed. With no way out of the mostly frozen lake, the ice not simply crumbling at any attempt to grip it, leaving the poor victim to freeze to death.
Falling Icicles

As deadly a weapon as any, thought usually to be an accident. The right push from someone on the roof could certainly make these pretties a method of murder.
Strangulation by Scarf

In the absence of any other weapon, your own scarf can be turned into a soft but strangling method of murder.

During your stay at Black Manor, you have been assigned a cabin. Each cabin is numbered according to the chart in the post above with the map. You are all free to use your cabins as you please for the duration of your stay at Black Manor, however be aware other visitors will likely be investigating many of the cabins throughout their stay. As each round comes to an end you must submit your guess of who the murderers are (must be stated as ____ is Jack Frost and ____ is the Krampus - if you select the right person in the wrong position, I will let you know you're on the right track but something's wrong), which cabin the murder occurred in, and what the method of murder was via Private Message. Only one correct answer will be confirmed each night, information about being on the right track not included. You do not need to choose your own cabin as the place, but you must be inside the cabin you wish to suggest as being the murder place at the end of the round.

Jack Frost and the Krampus are notified at the end of each round which players have confirmed clues and then have the choice to remove one of them. If you find out who both of the murderers are before other clues, you may be at a higher risk. The rounds will then begin with the discovering of the body and/or the continuation of the investigation.

Good luck! The game will end when a player publicly announces their correct suspicion of Who the murderers are, Where the murder happened and What the method of murder was. If a player announces an incorrect suspicion, they will be removed from the game. Keep in mind it may be a strategic out to take a guess if you fear you are a risk of death.

"Welcome all of you, my honorable guests, to the second annual Winter Wonderland party at Black Manor and Cabins!! I am elated that you all have decided to join me!" She mumbles under her breath something along the lines of especially after what happened last year. The servers arrive quickly with a variety of drinks and take requests if what anyone is looking for is not on a tray already. After the requested drinks are served and the centerpieces removed, the serving staff arrive with dinner, a full meal with several courses that continue long into the evening over comfortable conversation among good friends. After dinner the desserts come, all sorts of sweet bundled and bite sized offerings to allow everyone the chance to try a little of everything. With dessert, coffee and tea are served with several liqueurs available for those who'd like a little kick in their coffee.

It is as the coffee is being served that Lady Black chooses to address the elephant in the room. "I'm sure that many of you are aware of what happened at the first Winter Wonderland party and I am glad that you have chosen to take part despite the story. Last year we learned that the tale of Jack Frost was indeed true and I would advise you all to be very careful during your stay. Thus far there has been no suspicious activi---" The lights go out, a flash of lightning in the sky followed by a clap of thunder, but no rain. Indeed, it's snowing.

Trying to hold herself together and believe that the sudden storm has knocked the power out, Lady Black continues. "Ahem, no suspicious activity on the grounds." It is just then that the groundskeeper Mister Chocolate comes running into the room, gasping for breath as he begs to speak with Lady Black. They make their way into the hall and close the door a quiet and concerned discussion ensuing. When Lady Black returns it is a grave look on her face, just as the power returns to the building. "It appears I have spoken too soon. Miss Scarlet, who we believed would not be able to make it to the party, has turned up on the grounds in less than favorable conditions. I am sorry to announce her death. It seems that we all will be battling the curse of the Jack Frost once again. Mister Chocolate has informed me that it appears Jack has an accomplice this year, a pair of animal like feet and a dragging broom-like item left prints in the snow. I must assume this means he has joined forces with the Krampus."

"It seems that two of you are continuing the legend of Black Manor. You might not even be aware of it yet. Unfortunately this means we must immediately begin investigations to find these killers and stop them. As the legend tells Jack Frost can kill ten people in as many days. With the two of them working together, I do not doubt they could dismiss all twenty-two of us in so many days." Lady Black was gripping the table to keep herself standing, feeling faint from the idea that this was all happening again. "I must leave it to you, my trusted friends, to find out who among you have committed the deed, which cabin the murder occurred in or closest to, and how our dear Miss Scarlet died. Please hurry, our lives are in danger!"

I may have left this unclear, this is the beginning of the game. Players should now make their way to the cabin they wish to investigate for the round. Remember to keep your guesses in PMs and only at the end of rounds when they are called for. The 'day' or 'active' round should consist mainly of roleplaying/writing about which cabin you are headed to and interaction with other users, or what sort of investigations you are conducting, etc.

An older gentleman, hair thick and brown with a matching full beard, stands up from the left side of the table after the events of the evening transpired, especially so quickly, and proclaims, "Egad! Rough waters after so short of leaving port does not set well. The albatross flies above." The man, wearing a defined naval uniform with cap tucked under his right arm, turns to the rest of the group and addresses them more closely. "You may call me Captain Turquoise, or The Captain, or just Captain, but there is no time for small talk when pirates are trying to sink your vessel, so I suggest we get moving." And so The Captain headed off to the nearest cabin, which happened to be his own.

I AM THE RETURN!

The lady Auburn tilted her head when the hostess explained or sort of ...the situation.  She had not been at the last gathering so was much unaware of any prior situation . She was pretty sure it was supposed to be some masquarde ball in a winter wonderland . That had been what she had signed up for . Something about the snow covered trees ..soaking in a hot tub pleased her inner being to no end . Letting out a sigh ....as her mind tried to wrap around what all had actually been said . " Something happened last time ?"

Lady Auburn then tried to remember what cabin she had been assigned . Opening her purse she pulled out a map of the outside cabin quarters . Best way to investigate , start at the beginning ....Cabin one maybe . Assigned to Mistress Emerald ....what a lovely name . Might as well get know others as well .

Smiling at the others she meet in the room ... givng a nod to the head. Could one of them really be ...what did she say jack frost . Wasn't he a short little guy ..with ...ice powers . Maybe she should find out who was here last time ...that might draw more information . Or could they be guilty but of what ...letting out this Jack Frost . Did they have a saiance ....or ..

The questions rolled through her mind as she grabbed a bottle of wine off the table ...slipped into her lovely brown coat and started off to investigate around the first cabin and work her way down . The plumage in her hat that of a peacock , long elegant feathers they rustledwith the wind . She loved looking at snow ...just not walking out in it . Taking a little time to get used to the temperature change . Maybe a cruise ship next time would be better .

Mistress Ruby sighed heavily and rubbed her temple - still throbbing painfully, courtesy of too many hard mulled ciders at the country club the night before.  This was not the sort of evening excitement she had been looking forward to. The trip to Black Manor was supposed to be a much-needed and well-deserved week of rest, relaxation, and whatever other leisure activities she could fit in; a desperate escape from the stifling confines of her packed social calendar.

She leaned back slightly in her chair and looked slowly around the table at the gathered group, musing on how much this development would interfere with her vacation plans. Her dark eyes were bright and keen as each fellow guest was examined, and she offered a small smile to anyone who happened to make eye contact.  No one appeared especially familiar, save for Lady Black herself - and that could prove to be its own diversion. There had certainly been a face or three that seemed worthy of further investigation, and the circumstances surrounding the tragic, mysterious death of Miss Scarlet made for the perfect ice breaker.

Excusing herself from the table, Mistress Ruby hurried first to her own cabin to change.  The formal dress she'd worn for dinner was hardly the proper sartorial choice for shuffling through drifting snow and slush. A short time later she departed the cabin in much more setting-appropriate garb and considered her options. She vaguely recalled from dinner that there was a doctor in the party whose cabin was conveniently located nearest her own.  The good doctor probably knew as little as the rest of them, but perhaps Dr. Ivory would have something to ease the dull ache behind her eyes.

From behind her glasses, Doctor Ivory slid her gaze on each of the guests, smiling and exchanging a few greeting words at the occasion. Lady Black's invitation was the ideal opportunity for her to take a break from her workaholic life, offering some time away from the city and its stress.
Even before accepting, she had heard the stories about last year's tragedy; a heart-wrenching massacre, yet it hadn't affected her decision to partake in the event. Chances were very little that a similar incident could happen ...
" Thus far there had been no suspicious activi-..." Words had been left hanging in the air as suddenly the lights went off and lightening cracked in the sky. Ivory had nearly jumped from her seat, Thank god it's only the weather. However, the muttered words were of no comfort after the announcement of Miss Scarlet's death. Even in the midst of this horrifying news, she found an unexpected feeling of anticipation.

She took leave of the rest of the guests and made her way to her cabin where she traded her evening dress for a more comfortable wearing. Mistress Ruby was just exiting hers when they came face to face, she had observed what looked like fatigue on the woman's eyes. She hoped that her ache would cease after giving her an anti-migraine and some vitamin C pills.

Her next move found her in front of Mister Green's door and decided to pick her investigation from there.

Mister Orange was disheartened and saddened to hear what had happened the last time around and that it is happening again. The thought of someone amongst the group being Jack Frost and killing people made him scared. He came here for vacation and some relaxation but now it seems like that wasn't happening. Their task at hand was to investigate the murder by going into everyone's cabin and trying to find out who the murder is, which cabin was used to commit the murder and how they died. He didn't have any idea on where to start. Looks like he was going to have to get friendly with everyone to discover the culprit. As everyone got up after the speech to retreat to their cabins he went into his and got settled in.

He contemplated the events that had transpired earlier this evening. To think that someone in the group was a killer was unimaginable. He looked over the list of the participants and decided to pick randomly as to who did it as he didn't really know anyone in the group. The name he finally decided on was Lady Amethyst. It was pretty cold out so he got changed quickly out of his tuxedo wearing a long sleeve polo, black slacks and a heavy jacket and heading for Lady Amethyst's cabin.

Madame Aqua was looking forward to the wonderful winter retreat. She loved the snow and the winter weather. Snuggling up by a cozy fire with some hot chocolate and a good book was one of the best things about the season.

She retreated to her own cabin and began unpacking her belongings.

Mild-mannered Mr. Maroon arrived late, and settled into his cabin without much fanfare.  He was here, of course, on a company-sponsored retreat, a mandatory vacation that was, to the letter, corporate procedure for middle management.  He was a manager in the General Paperwork Department at Generitech, Inc., where he wore a somber maroon suit and somber maroon tie.  He drove to work in a somber maroon sedan, and he lived in a somber maroon house.    He was not married, but was currently engaged in a half-hearted and somber romance with his coworker Dana, who worked in the mail room.  Mr. Maroon was, by all accounts, about as interesting as a wet sock and as exciting as a pack of underwear given as a Christmas present.

When, however, the lights went out in Black Manor, and then when Lady Black announced that there had been a death on the grounds, part of him, a part that he had never before that point knew existed, awoke.  This was a Mystery!  Indeed, it was a Crime that needed to be Solved!  Mr. Maroon had felt his blood race.  He had never thought in Capital Letters and Exclamation Points! before.

Racing back to his cabin, he quickly stripped off his suit.  What he needed was a Costume! A Recognizable Symbol, to Strike Fear, or, at the very least, Confusion, in the Hearts and Minds of Criminals everywhere!  But what would suit?

He glanced at the window drapes, which, to suit his color scheme, were a bright shade of red.  They would do!  With heroic haste, Mr. Maroon ripped them off the window, and furiously spent the next two hours cutting and sewing.

Finally, at long last, his work was done.  The Crimson Crusader was born!

with his cape billowing in the wind, and his finger pointing heroically, the Crimson Crusader strikes a pose for Justice!

Lady Aubergine (or Detective Aubergine, to her fellows in the Ruoloc PD) wanted to groan and crack her head against the wall when she realized that this 'vacation' was going to have all the hallmarks of her everyday life. Murder, conspiracy, and mystery... this was not what she'd signed up for when Commander Wobniar had ordered her to take some time off after The Incident.

The Incident, with capital letters.

Lady Aubergine just managed to keep from rolling her eyes and got to her feet, slinky purple dress and every inch of her platformed, purple pumps. Without a word to anyone at the table, she strode with all the leisure in the world back to her cabin.

Once there, she flopped onto the bed, and almost immediately sat back up. No point in staying in her cabin, where she was just going to go stir crazy while waiting for Frampus or Krack Jost or whatever their names were to come and murder her in her sleep. Or with a scarf. Oh, how horrible would it be to die strangled by a scarf?

Then again, she might get stabbed by an icicle outside. Or get shoved into some hole and covered with snow. Or find herself beaten to death by a snowshoe.

Lady Aubergine groaned out loud and sprawled back onto her bed. What luck that she had to come when there were murderers lurking about...

The attack was of no real surprise to Lady Violet. She knew something was going to happen, it always did at gatherings like this. Though the death of Scarlet woman was a surprise. Typically one with such a name as she, was a leading lady and now she lay dead and cold. She watched each guest as they departed keeping note on the reactions from each of them. Her brow furrowed as she couldn't get a good read on anyone.

Typically she was good with knowing people and reading faces and gestures. Being part of the psychic network she had a decent skill and Gypsy's Fortune was a well to do business in the city. She was doing well indeed, even if she had to wear that silly black wig. Though here at this event she didn't bother with her disguises. She may have had Romani Blood in her heritage but she was too fair skinned and fair haired to pass under most scrutiny her customers gave.

Lady Violet, named Gabriella Salazar upon birth, hurried along with others toward her own cabin. She would need to change out of the cocktail gown she had worn to dinner.  She assumed many of the others were doing much of the same, though she did worry about them all splitting up as they were. Another would likely die by the hands of the evildoers as most bad dinner parties gone wrong had occur. She slid into a pair of black slacks and a deep violet poets blouse, that ruffled down the front and billowed at the wrists and down the sleeves.

It was almost stereotypical but she liked the color. A pair of black three inch heels followed. Her long platinum locks were let down as they tumbled over her shoulders and down her back to rest just at her waistline. She pinned back a few with a couple sharply pointed hair darts, that were cleverly disguised as small jeweled flowers, a decor for her tousled waves. Far be it for her to wander around unarmed. She would move to two rooms down next to check on Senor Oro's quarters and see just how he was reacting to the situation at hand.

Her first stop after arriving had been her assigned cabin to change and freshen up for the dinner party.  When she heard about the events of last winter Adele Landry, better known as Madame Sapphire because she nearly always wore blue, had second thoughts about attending the event.  In the end however she dismissed what she heard as speculation and rumors run wild.  A last look in the mirror and she deemed herself properly attired for a dinner party in a sapphire jewel tone blouse, winter white pants and soft brown leather boots.

As their hostess began to speak she listened intently, until a man came to to interrupt.  When the hostess Lady Black returned she began to wonder if maybe the things she heard were not blown out of proportion.  A stab of fear went through her as she looked around the table.  Could one of them really be the murderer?  Her shrewd brown eyes traveled over the face of each person taking not of them.  As other began to excuse themselves she stood without a word.  She filed out with the others and started her own investigation by watching the others to see where they might go, how they acted.  She had little intention of being caught alone with any of the party guests.  And just to reassure herself that her own cabin was safe she went there calmly.

Miss Auburn  couldn't much find anything wrong the first cabin ...except the woman who was staying there had a wonderful taste in clothing . Maybe before this whole lets find some wacked out fairy tale character gone mad . Maybe someone was smoking too much from a Hooka or something . Trying not to talk to herself as she stepped back out of the cabin . Mean what was she supposed to be looking for anyways . How could a woman be dead and no one know where she had been killed ....crazy .

Letting out a sigh , she did want to do her part though ...even if she didn't have a clue . Moving to the next cabin , # 2 ...according to her little map it belonged to a Madam Auqa . Well now ...what sort of leather outfits might this one be hiding . Giggling to herself as she knocked and then stepped inside . All the cabins so far seemed so charming ... " Hello ...I am Lady Auburn ..."  hopeful the lady might be about ...anyways .

persephone325

Madame Aqua heard a soft knock on her door. Stopping her unpacking, she strode over to the door and opened it briskly.

"Hello!" She greeted the woman with a smile. A cold burst of air flooded the room and sent a chill through her body. "Would you like to come in?" She asked, not wanting to make the woman stand out in the frigid weather.

It seemed that history was once against repeating itself as a man rand into the read and began rattling off about how someone had been murdered, it was in that moment during which she wondered silently to herself if she would have been better off remaining at home than attending this little get together. Miss Silver had listened to the hostess, choosing to remain seated for a bit of time yet while some around her began moving about, seeming more than ready to face the challenge head on of trying to figure everything out.

A slight sigh was given before finally pushing back her chair and moving towards the cabin that she had been assigned, number twelve. Gray coat was pulled around her shoulders as she headed back out into the elements, moving with quick steps refusing to be caught alone. Someone was already gone, what if the killer was still among those who remained, it was better to be cautious or try to keep strength by numbers, the latter of which wasn't had currently.

" Oh yes I would love too .....this frigid temperature out here is enough to cause frost bitten panties if one is not careful . Well least I do hope others are wearing them ...."  as she brought her hand up to her face realizing she spoke out loud . " Oh dear ....forgive my manners , it is just this whole silly thing ....My first time up in these parts were you here per chance last year ?  "

Slipping inside so the cold air could be contained where it should ..letting the warmth of the cabin embrace .  Lady Auburn rummaged through her bag ...." Ahhh here we go ...I brought a tin with an assortment of various flavored tea ...ought to warm us up a little . "  smiling up at the lovely woman . Though she could help but look around wondering if she had whips and chains or other wicked play things about . Lady Auburn was a bit naive and just assumed the name Madam meant the woman owned a Bordello or something . "Not so sure what we are supposed to be looking for ....poor Miss Scarlet anyways . "

persephone325

Madame Aqua stepped aside to let the lady by. Once inside, she closed the door.

"Tea sounds wonderful. I'll put a kettle on the stove." She smiled. However, that smiled slowly faded at the mention of Miss Scarlet. "Poor Miss Scarlet... I did hope to meet her during my stay..." Madame looked down and pursed her lips in thought.

"Oh. Where are my manners? I'm Madame Aqua. It's nice to meet you, Miss...?" She held out her hand to shake the other woman's.

An elderly, formal gentleman rises from his heavy chair, slowing tapping his pipe out in the potted plant as Lady Black urges everyone to investigate the startling murder of Miss Scarlet. He notes the hurried panic that others leave the room in, slowly appraising the situation.

"Ih do bahlieve, ladies and gen'l'men, that p'rhaps I shall attire to mah room, and pr'prly equip mahself in the ah-vent that we ehncountah the vile Jack Frost and this.. this.. Krampus. Ih would ahdvise you to p'rhaps do the same. I bid you all, a safe wish and would remind you ladies that there is safety in nuhmbahs."

Walking briskly out the door, Brigadier Blue turns to the right and immediately steps into his cabin. Opening his tidy suitcase, he produces a somewhat antique looking Colt Model 1903 pistol, loaded the chamber fully and slipped it into his side holster. He then produced his pipe again, filling it with tobacco and striking his match against the wall, inhaling sharply as he looked deep into the fire, contemplating the recent events.

Fifteen years retired from the military now, Brigadier Blue continues to wear his formal dress attire on every occasion he can.

Princess Purple maintained her composure at the news of the murder and the return of Jack though her insides quivered.  She's so wanted excitement on this trip. Oh, not that she wanted anyone to die.  How horrible!  It's just that, while others might think being a princess fun and full of excitement, it was really quite a "woh hum" life.  And now Jack has a partner!  How exciting!  She thought as she mentally rubbed her purple gloved hands together, her mind clacking with possibilities.

She retired to her cabin, number five, to contemplate the whoziwhatsits of the situation.

Starlequin

'Madre de dios, what was I thinking coming to thees infierno congelado?!' Señor Oro thought as he shuffled back over the slushy ground to his own cabin. 'And now I must contend not only with el helado corazón de la madre naturaleza, but also a pair of murderous banditos! I would have been safer in Barcelona, facing down my bruja de la suegra!' His trembling hands fought the evening's chill in an effort to insert the key into the lock, and he slipped inside as quickly as possible. A relieved sigh escaped him as he felt the cabin's golden warmth wash over him.

'Ahh, mucho mejor.' Señor Oro moved through the unfamiliar room with his unusual grace, borne from his years of dancing el flamenco, and gathered his heaviest winter gear and belted on his gold-inlaid saber. As much as he would appreciate the chance to remain indoors during this miserable excusa de unas vacaciones (or even better, in the company of some of la belleza exquisita he'd noticed during the dinner), Oro was el hombre de acción! The Spaniard would not rest until these asesinos in their midst were brought to justicia!

Properly armed and armored, he prepared to storm back out to begin his investigation when a knock at the door slowed his step. A visitor? Now? Manners and curiosity compelled him quickly to answer the door, and he was surprised to find the Lady Violet on his step. "Ah, Señora Violeta! I am deeply honored that you should grace my humble quarters with your radiance. Bienvenido, por favor entrar," Señor Oro said with a sweeping flourish as he moved aside to allow the lady's entrance.

"It seems that our arrivals aqui have been marked by destiny, no? I myself was just about to embark upon la investigación de estos crímenes asquerosos, I mean, these foul crimes. Might I now presume I would be following in the Señora's footsteps? If so, may I say that I believe it would be both prudente y sabio if we were to, as los Americanos say, 'team up'? Or does the Señora prefer to work as el lobo solitario?"
You live for the fight when it's all that you've got.

Josietta

Lady Violet looked at the handsome man who stood at his door and nodded with a polite smile. She noted his flirting and over abundance of wanting to make a good impression. She wasn't sure if it was because he felt obligated as she was a lady or if he was trying to get more out of her than she might have offered. Either way she slipped into his room and then turned with a smile.

"Senorita... I am not married and thank you. I was wondering what you might be doing now that poor Ms Scarlet has been murdered. Do you have any clue who it might be? Who would have it out for her so badly? Maybe she owed Jack Frost something? I am so scared, Señor Oro! I didn't know where to turn. I had heard you were a brave man who could protect a lady such as me."

She moved up toward him and placed a hand on his chest and batted her lashes at him as she spoke in a more soft tone hoping to appeal to his honor and desire to please.

"You will stay with me, won't you? Please?"

Her dark blue eyes stared up at him as she let her hand move to his arm feeling for any amount of strength that might have given him an advantage on wrestling a poor weak woman to the ground, or worse strangling her until her eyes closed. Was Señor Oro the Jack Frost in disguise? Would she be safe with him? She was a bit scared but knew she needed someone else on her side.

Professor Gray, a tall man, thin, and with silvering black hair, looked out his cabin window into the night.  The chill in his bones was not just from the weather -- recent events had cast a long shadow over his normally... well, in truth, his normal disposition was somewhat cynical and gloomy anyway.  Now, it was simply more so.

Deciding to find someone with whom he could chat about the things that occupied him, he set out for Chef Basil's abode with purpose.
