I'll keep my tech stuff along the line of locks (I'll also take lockpicking), repeating crossbows, clocks and fucking machines :P Where are the skills for ranged weapons, by the way?

each weapon has its own skill

I think Dorian is busy today so things might move along tomorrow most likely, we'll see though.  ;D  For now do your best to get your characters and all that going as much as you can.  As far as actual story stuff is concerned, I can help out a lot more in that department so feel free to ask if you're needing help with your backgrounds and all that.

*cackles* Why of course. I gotta have fun somehow.

Coding the chara sheet is proving difficult with Elli's table format. I'll get it done, though.

Thank you!

I need to get to work in a little while, but I will be back in the morning. Are the guidelines for character creation (i.e. character point total, which edition of GURPS. etc) listed near the beginning of the thread? I haven't read through the whole thing yet, but I will.

And yes, I am indeed familiar with the system.  :-)

Thank you much, Sara.

I must also add, that no Wealth or Reputation may be taken, as they would be pointless in the dark world.

Well, the way I'm planning to work this, the 'transform options' that come with using the items, would actually entail both advantages, and drawbacks, as well as the usual infusion of corruption. Plus, depending where you are in the 'dark world' you'll slowly pick up corruption from the environment itself. I'm entertaining the notion that corruption might (very) slowly burn off while in the 'light world' side, though any transform effects would stay.

The game includes methods to remove corruption (including simply exercising restrain in some situations), methods to remove or replace transformations, as well as ways to 'purify' items of corruption (ether partially or in full) while keeping their transformational effects. Are any of these likely to feature in the RP or do our characters basically have a 'shelf life' before their inevitably corrupted. Leaving aside those who happily throw themselves at the incubus of course. (*cough cough* saranilsson *cough*) ::)

Thank you much, Sara.

I must also add, that no Wealth or Reputation may be taken, as they would be pointless in the dark world.

Since the Wealth option increases starting fund (and thus gear) is that a 'no wealth at all' or just enforcing the 'no one beyond this level without GM permission' point?

Gems, the darkening world's form of money will be easier to obtain than what they are in CoC itself unless Dorian has a different idea of course.  As for your corruption question Saric, I'd like to keep the option open of being able to purify yourselves so that there is no real limit to your characters.

Easier? I mean, in CoC they fall from everywhere, literally.

Yes but in the early game getting the 500 gems for the gym is almost impossible, then in the late game you've got the best gear money can buy and maxed stats and still have 3k gems.

Here, at least, there's more point in getting the intermediate gear rather then just saving up and there's magic and tech so there should always be something better to buy... if you're unwilling to fuck the goblin or the succubus sorcerer for it instead.

I foresee many such options ahead of us.

Saric has the right of it in regards to the money question.  CoC it was rather pointless to get money after a certain point for that very reason, but here there will likely always be something that is better.  There will always be tougher enemies, always be something to work towards if this goes well enough.  ;D

Dorian's working on it, but E is giving him a bit of trouble with the set up.  He'll have it soon, don't worry.

I will try to get a character in the next day or so.

Maybe some kind of battle mage? I might focus on just one element, so I would hopefully have points left over for a few halfway decent combat skills as well.

How many levels of Magery would you allow?

Normally, Magery is limited to 3 levels, but after chara creation, I might allow up to 5 levels.

What kind of battle mage were you thinking of? I'm currently working on a half dragon mage chara.

I don't think I'm gonna make a character myself only because I don't want to bog myself down too much and all.  ;D  Telling the story is going to be....interesting enough as it is lol.  Interesting in a good way though.  ;D
