At least finding a heat sink wouldn't have been a problem. Shoot a little, go roll around in the snow for a minute, go back to shooting ...

Plus it would fire faster than most weapons at the time, even if the Man-made Lightning Projectors only have an effective range of a mere 540 metres.

Seeing as most weapons of the time had an accuracy rating of about...  300m?  Yeah, I can live 540m.

That is awesome.  This is the sort of mistake that needs to happen more often.
