Background of this group game:
I've been on an XCOM kick and have been considering a smutty, light-hearted, comedic parody of it.
This would be a loosely organized group game. I've tried to run a group game with lots of requirements and control on my part. While it was fun, I simply could not sustain it, even when I had the time.
For this group game, I simply want to have like-minded individuals get together and start threads of their own. If their thread remains true to the theme of the game, they can just slap an [X-Com] label on it. I probably have just November and December to do some RP, and then January through March I'm pretty sure I'm going to be busy with work and will be more of a spectator than a player.
Basically, I make suggestions, and anyone who is interested can make their own decisions.
Background of the video game this group game is based on:
XCOM, formerly known as X-COM, is a series of video games in which the player is in charge of an agency called XCOM (eXtraterrestrial COMbat) that protects Earth from alien invasion.
Aliens are abducting Earthlings to study them (perhaps for assimilation or breeding purposes).
Among other things, XCOM shoots down UFOs, fight aliens, take corpses for autopsy, capture aliens for interrogation, and recover technology for creating weapons, armor and aircraft of their own.
Quick scene ideas:
A pair of soldiers celebrate a successful mission in the barracks.
A civilian is kidnapped and studied by an alien.
A soldier is captured and studied by an alien.
An alien is captured by a soldier and studied by a scientist.
Scientists celebrate a breakthrough in the lab.
Engineers celebrate a breakthrough in the workshop.

Soldier - Heavy (specialists in explosives like rockets and in laying down suppression with light machine guns)
Soldier - Sniper (specialists in reconnaisance and long-range single target damage)
Soldier - Support (specialists in defense and combat medicine)
Pilot - Skyranger (troop transport pilot)
Pilot - Interceptor (aerospace superiority fighter pilot)
The Commander, Chief Scientist, and Chief Engineer can be PC'ed by me or NPC'ed by anyone for the sake of keeping their threads going. Need an assignment or research project or engineering task? Use the Commander or Chiefs to give them to you and your RP partners.
Soldiers can be rookies, squaddies, corporals, sergeants, lieutenants, captains, majors and colonels. These are just ranks within X-Com based on experience in the field. Rookies are considered to be special ops types, anything from Rangers to Delta Force to SEALS or their international equivalent, who have not yet gone on a mission against aliens. Squaddies have gotten a kill or capture, or have survived multiple missions.
Some aliens have psychic abilities, and eventually everyone gets tested for psychic abilities of their own.
X-COM is an international organization, taking the best and brightest from all over the world. The following is is not an exhaustive list of approximately 200 countries. It is just the 30 countries used in the video game offered as possibilities for this group game.

Basic - Top of the line Earth-based weapons, armor and aircraft. Weapons include pistols, rifles, shotguns, light machineguns, sniper rifles, grenades, and rocket launchers.
Beam - Incorporating recovered broken alien technology to make laser weapons, more protective armor with grappling hooks, better weapons for interceptor aircraft.
Plasma - Incorporating recovered intact alien technology to make plasma weapons, flying armor, invisible armor, even more protective armor, even better weapons for interceptor aircraft, and entirely new interceptor aircraft.
