I am as well, just trying to space out my many, many questions.

So tanks running away, what's the punishment?

Also whats the punishment for turning on humans and fighting for tank rights?

Most humans will report runaway Tanks, so they will need to be very careful who they associate with after their escape.
Tanks who use violence on a human are generally terminated.
There are very few Tanks in a position to personally advocate for their rights. Non-violent protest is frowned upon but generally not punished, though any punishment is at the discretion of the owner.
Violent protests will once again lead to the Tanks termination.

This sounds like an interesting premise.

How about this concept: A tank who was created by the government as a special agent, but went rogue. He was able to erase all records of his serial code before he left (so he can't be tracked that way), but they are still searching for him.

I'm okay with the concept of an escaped Tank and I'm even alright with him being military, but I don't like the idea of him being a super agent who managed to manipulate the Tank database.
How about he is just a regular soldier on the run?

Name:  Delilah Stone
Race:  Human
Age:  23
Background: Delilah is a rigger.  She works in orbital construction and repair, servicing the myriad satellites, space stations and other sky trash that hangs above the planet.  The job is physically demanding, highly skilled and extremely dangerous.  Vacuum doesn't forgive mistakes.  Her corporation, tired of paying high wages, insurance premiums and disability benefits, is in the process of switching over to using Tanks in place of humans.  They lack her skill, her experience and Delilah considers them not only dangerous but a threat to her career and financial safety.  Lately, she's been reading anti-Tank pamphlets and has even attended a Humans First meeting.  Humans First is one of the more vocal anti-Tank groups and it has been rumored they have ties to anti-Tank terrorism.  Planetside she has a difficult mother, a sometimes lover and an ever changing list of weekly-stay hotels her corporation provides during her mandatory downtime in a normal gravity field.

Thank you!  She'll come in direct conflict with Tanks pretty early on in the writing, and will definitely have anti-Tank sentiment.  However, neither she nor I are certain if that will become more intense or if she'll start to back away from it.  It's going to depend a lot on who she interacts with and how they act.

I do hope someone is going to play a Tank.  I figured I'd pick a human because, well, Tanks are sexy ideas and I thought there would be plenty of them.

Name: Annabella
Race: Tank
Age: 22 (has been out of the Tank for four years)
Background: Annabella is the property of Ivory 69, an adult entertainment company that provides everything from pornography, strip clubs to escort services and brothels. The majority of their staff are company-owned tanks, not counting a few exceptions. She herself is a prostitute who caters to the middle-class neighborhoods in New Haven (the capital city of what used to be the continent of North America, approximately situated in current day Maine). Her appearance and skill set was tailor-made for the demographic she will be servicing. Annabella is better off than many Tanks, as her work is not as slavishly demanding as those doing manual labor for seven days a week, nor is it as dangerous as some of the tasks her fellow Tanks are expected to perform. The fair-looking sex-Tanks represent such an investment that most even get 1-2 days a week off for recuperation and rest. Because no human wants to pay good money for a roll in the hay with a dead-tired, worn out Tank.

Annabella’s secret feelings towards humanity are ambivalent. Some of her clients repulse her, whilst others treat her with genuine kindness and affection. What worries her the most is her own personal future. Very few Tanks in her line of work make it to the “age” of 30 before being decommissioned. In reality this means that Ivory 69 sells them to much less reputable organizations who cater to the sexual demands of the city’s slums. Most Tanks who work there do not last very long…

Name: Frank T. Blane

Race: Human

Age: 30

Background: Frank was born to a family of good means, so he had contact with tanks from a young age in the help of the house, his parents had made it a point he understood the difference between tanks and humans, even if he had a hard time with the concept at first he eventually got it. A tank wasn't even a low class citizen.

His father had made a fortune himself, by seeing opportunities were nobody else saw them and seizing them, Frank did the same for himself if in a less reputable way. Frank had seen the horrible way tanks were treated, and how they seemed to be everywhere so he decided to do something about it... to help himself.

A tank has no material wealth other than what they could manage to steal if they try to escape, however they also hardly ever noticed by their "owners" they treat them like pieces of furniture, they speak secrets in front of them, press codes in front of them, everything.

So what Frank does is negotiate with troubled tanks, he grants them the means to escape their current predicament, what they owe is a favor for him, according to the means at their disposal at the moment, and favors afterwards should they have skills worth using.

Name: Designate QV-142:528, though he goes by Quintus these days.
Race: Tank
Age: Nearing his late 50's, his age is starting to show.
Background: When you are born as a soldier it is hard to do anything else. So many of the war-models couldn't cope with not fighting that they turned to mercenary work, being hired by shady organizations, criminals and revolutionary cells. Ultimately they were all put down in grizzly ways, dying as they were meant to, riddled with holes. Quintus instead turned to preserving life in his own way, killing to protect a life rather for the sake of it. Bodyguard work had him in the thick of the action to protect VIP's, either by killing assassins or taking bullets for his clients.

During his career he never had one of his VIPs killed. But that fateful night last month broke that streak. In a moment of misplaced perception another Tank killed the top politician he was guarding. No blame was placed on him, it was just that he was getting old. Which for the first time filled him with a sense of dread. Was he becoming obsolete, what with the new tanks grown for this line of work? Was he losing his grip of things? Would there be a place for him now that the world was outgrowing him? These were the kind of questions that kept him up at night. So far he hasn't taken on a new job and when he realized he needed glasses his spirits fell further. Another question started surfacing in his mind.

Should he just kill himself before he became worse?

Jeremy Irons - sexy!  Yum.

Quintus is going to be very dangerous to cross I think, or to be around since you seem to indicate he's pondering suicide.  Wow!  Good character.

So we've got a Sexy Tank, a Soldier / Bodyguard Tank, a human who plays Tanks like a master spy, and one human construction worker who is currently very angry with the Tanks she works with.  Nice group of potential interactions and conflicts.  Good job!

Name: Shaun Masters
Race: Human
Age: 43
Background: Shaun was born to a life of wealth and privilege, his father was a high ranking lawyer for one of the largest tank companies around. There excellent imprints for agriculture and construction tanks meant that they are world leaders in each field. Shaun and his older brother Jaime where expected to join the family business and so they each went off to law school when the time came. Around the time Shaun was sent off to Law School, Jaime and his wife Emma had decided they wanted children. Of course Emma was a career woman and didn't to do the whole "pregnancy" thing so they bought a tank surrogate.

Even with though he was constantly drilled into his brain growing up that tanks where things not people, he couldn't help but ask after the surrogate, making sure she was comfortable and happy whenever he visited. She was pregnant after all. Still he spent a lot of time with her during their visits and over the course of the pregnancy. and when she was hired afterwards as a nanny, they fell in love. There relationship was kept secret from his family of course, using a tank as a sex doll the could understand but actually dating one? It would be an embarrassment. Still with her being a surrogate tank eventually her high fertility caused her to become pregnant and they had no option but to confront his family. He was subsequently disowned.

His trust fund, his expensive apartment, his luxury car, it was all taken from him not that he minded, he had a beautiful girlfriend who was carrying his child, all they needed was each other. To pay the bills he got himself a low paying job in a firm, campaigning for tank rights. He also got them a small apartment in a local slums, still it was some of the happiest times in his life but these things never last. During a tank rights march outside one of the various tank operations the security staff opened fire on the crowd killing his wife and his child. They would later claim the crowd had been rioting and that they acted in self defense.

So in order to achieve revenge Shaun joined a terrorist cell that fought for tank rights. His extensive knowledge of the inner working of tank manufacturing company's allowed him to pull of quite a few very successful operations and he quickly rose through the ranks.

Name: Walker Dale
Race: Tank
Age: 25
Background: Walker was grown as a soldier for a paramilitary group. He spent two years working in Africa, where he fought for a dictator to help end opposition to his regime. When he saw an opportunity he disappeared, being reported as having likely been killed in a firefight. He spent the next year making his way to New Haven, where he made contact with a small resistance cell. He declined to join them, but was found a job with a mechanic shop where the owner was known to employ people without asking questions and pay them under the table.

After his experiences in Africa, Walker has decided to become a pacifist, which was his main reason for refusing to join the resistance cell. He still feels guilt over actions he was ordered to take while he was working as a solider, and is trying to find a way to live his life without having to use the combat skills he was programmed with as a soldier.
