Name: Hailot Nylia A'Loma
Department: Asari Commando
Rank: (Major) Spectre
Class: Vanguard (Shotgun Speciality)
History: The offspring of a Krogan union, scientifically carrying over traits from the "father" of an asari coupling is anecdotal at best. Nylia is one of these compelling anecdotes, though whether her brusque manner and brutality are shaped by actual inheritance or simply her own attempt to pay homage to her Krogan parent remains to be seen. Her preferred method of combat more closely resembles that of a Krogan Battlemaster than the Asari Huntress, preferring an economy of motion and vicious upfront assault to quickly dispatch and terrify the enemy.
Her mother, Lysia A'Loma served as an intermediary diplomat to the previously Krogan controlled world of Garvug, primarily dealing with Clans Ganar, Hailot, Gatatog, and Drau. Her "father", a female Krogan by the name of Hailot Vecht was the primary face of the movement to push for induction into the Citadel Council, using Garvug as an example of Krogan adaptability and stability. An idealist, her case for the Krogan cause had precisely the opposite effect, the Asari and Turians taking note of the rapid reproductive capabilities of the Krogan as a terrifying indication of things to come. Hailot Vecht and her efforts were again, far too idealistic for a galaxy still unstable from the Rachni war.
Nylia's childhood through her first century saw the theft of her homeworld from the Krogan by Salarian corporate interests, the Krogan Rebellion and the introduction of the Genophage. Continued efforts for diplomacy by her mother were rebuked and according to the classified records on Thessia, Lysia was instrumental in a coup that resulted in the death of all fifteen members of the Hailot upper council, including Clan Master Grevit and his adviser Shaman Hailot Vecht.
What followed was a retreat back to Thessia by mother and daughter, her education in the other half of her parentage beginning in earnest. Like the little human girl raised by wolves, there were certain oddities that we too deeply ingrained in her psyche to be entirely expunged.
Too vicious and unfocused for the more delicate skills of the Asari Adepts, Nylia applied her biotic skills in a more brutal fashion, her unstable temperament lending concussive power to the vanguard disciplines. Noted for her tendency to wear yellow facial markings of a Krogan nature into battle, she spent the first thirty years of her tenure as an Asari Commando on assignment at a roving observatory on the surface of Tuchanka itself. With her passion for Krogan history and first hand knowledge of their customs (as well as her brutal nature) she was better suited than her mother to act as a intermediary between the Asari council and the Krogan Clans.
She became rapidly disillusioned with her position however, coming to realize that she was there not to negotiate between the two races, so much as simply keep the Krogan placated and silent. One of the few Asari to have claim and capability to the honor, she has undergone the Krogan Rite of Passage, suffering a catastrophic victory that claimed to lives of two of her Krantt in glorious combat.
The timing of this event is decidedly suspicious, as it was within three weeks of the cataloged date during which the Classified documents regarding the death of her Krogan parent were accessed. During a psych evaluation a century later, the Asari therapist seems to feel strongly that this was an attempt by Nylia to commit suicide, dying a Krogan's death to somehow atone for the sins of her mother. Despite the odds, she survived relatively unscathed however and seemed to find new purpose, a common after effect amongst Krogan who have survived the rite.
Tranfering back to Thessia, her military career from this point on becomes more in line with the Asari standard, providing heavy fire power assistance to infiltration teams and Council funded black ops. Most frequently called in as a Krogan specialist, she has the dubious record of the highest kill record amongst the Asari for her "father" species. Despite this, she refers to herself as Hailot Nylia, only resorting to using her mother's name when necessary.
It is noted that her mother is in the waning years of her life. At 973 years, she lives on Thessia, counting down the last few grains of sand left to her. No words have been exchanged between mother and daughter in almost five of those centuries.
Considering herself a Battlemaster, Hailot Nylia believes that the viciousness that she shows the Krogan to be her most sincere form of respect. Because of this fact and additionally her three previous "husbands" all being Krogan (and all deceased), some jokingly call her the "Little Thresher".
Infrequently involved in politics despite her growing age, she is an ever active voice for Krogan rights. With the ethics of a Krogan and the patient strategical eyes of an Asari Matriarch, she works beneath the Council as a Spectre, backing up her idealistic goals with brutal firepower and an exacting warrior's code.
