Lost Girl Interest Check. (Updates pending.)
« on: August 04, 2012, 04:26:06 PM »
I've highlighted the winner but I'll keep the other two ideas up if anyone else wants to use them.  Feel free just be sure to give credit where credit is due is all I ask.  ;D  Anyway, here goes.

Lost Girl sandbox;

I just saw that there was a Lost Girl game already going by the name of Lost Ones but I like this show a lot as well so I thought I'd give this a go.  For those that don't know what Lost Girl is, it's a story put on Sy-Fy that tells of a young woman that is a succubus.  She didn't know what she was at first, only that she was adopted after she accidentally killed her first and last boyfriend when she was if I remember right, 16 or 17 at the oldest.  Anyway, she had been on the run ever since until she ran into other people that had strange powers like her, collectively called Fae.  There are two sides of Fae, Light and Dark, and each has their own rules on how they treat humanity who beyond special cases doesn't have a clue as to what walks among them on a regular basis.  Nearly every Fae, regardless if they know what they are or not at first due to circumstances such as Bo's case who was hidden although why hasn't been told yet that I know about anyway, (I don't live in Canada where this show is made so Season 3 is not known to me at all yet,) has to choose a side when they come of age.  Picking a side regulates how you deal with the other side, if at all, as well as humans as well.  Long story short, few people don't pick a side since the Fae look after their own...normally.  Anyway, this would be a sandbox and I'd expect a lot of OCs since as much as I love the show, I'd prefer to have more freedom as long as we stuck to what makes the show such a hit given its modern fantasy look on things.  I think Las Vegas or New York would be a good place to set this up unless someone has a better idea lol.  And before anyone asks I'd rather no one played or tried to play what is classified as an Under Fae.  More on that later though.  Ok, I'll stop rambling lol.

----------------------------------------------------------

Indiana Jones plot line;

Been watching the old Indiana Jones movies, the Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade on TV today and I've seen the other two not so long ago as well.  I DO NOT PLAN TO HAVE ALIENS before anyone gets too bent out of shape, as can be seen in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, although I will say I did like that movie thanks to his son he had with Marion Ravenwood who turned out to be just like his old man by the end of that movie lol.  Joking and all that aside however, I do not plan to have the old Jones in this, but rather his kid, five years after the end of the Skull addition to the films.  Now we just need a good legend to go after.  I have a few ideas, ranging from the final resting place of Excalibur, King Arthur's old sword and his Knights of the Round Table that united behind him, to Atlantis, King Solomon's Diamond Mines, and a few more, but I'm willing to negotiate, so long as poison and a gunfight doesn't get involved in said dealings.  :P  So, five years after, which would make this around 1962 and so that would make Henry "Mutt' Jones III who was 19 at the time 24.  I expect a lot of OCs if this goes well and I get enough interest and enough ideas and all that to make this possible, but I don't plan to play an actual character myself.  I'll be trying to GM this thing by setting up traps and all that, as well as enemies to chase after whoever decides to team up with the newest addition to the Jones legacy, but I will need a Co-GM who can be a character in this if they so chose, so long as they are at least evil enough to try to stop or betray the guys going after whatever gets set up.  Tech and all that will have to match the time so no cellphones or any of that obviously.  Beyond that, go nuts.  :P

Pirates of the Caribbean; A Future Tale.

Ten years at sea for a day on shore, that was the deal when Will Turner stabbed Davy Jone's heart and became the new captain of the Flying Dutchmen.  However, before he left that day to tend to his new duties as the captain to ferry souls across the sea to the other side, he and Elizabeth Turner conceived a son.  Because of his recent acquisition of power, would it be unreasonable to assume that his son might have also gained a bit of that same power his father had just received?  Interesting question for a new age of piracy wouldn't you say?  The sea is full of treasure and mystical creatures as we all know from the other stories so far, so what's to stop us from making our own legends?  We've had cursed Aztec gold coins sealed in a stone chest, we've had Davy Jones himself make two appearances before falling once and for all, we've had mermaids and the Fountain of Youth along with Black Beard, and now?  Well, that's for us to decide don't you think?  At any rate, this story would take place shortly after Will makes another appearance after another ten years, placing the young Turner in his 19th year if not his 20th of life.  Beyond that, I'm open to ideas.  Until then, drink up me hearties yo ho!

Hm....The Fae idea sounds pretty interesting.  Lots of apparent room for 'fantasy' type characters.  I'd love to hear more about this if it gets the most votes.

They all look human on the outside but to put a summary on them, they are anything but lol.  Each Fae has a different power and weakness or multiple powers and weaknesses, and so far there has yet to be an unstoppable Fae, but I will say it'd come pretty close a few times.  Anyway, thanks for the interest Siereis, it's much appreciated.

Lost Girl because I love Lost Girl. As much as I enjoy Indiana Jones, Jones doesn't have a freaking Siren partnered with a werewolf or a Leanan Sidhe with the title of The Morrigan. So yeah, my vote is for Lost Girl. Also, I think Boston would be a great place to set it since it's a very interesting city from a historical standpoint.

I could see Lost Girl being fun but I'd want to know how canon things would be.  I'm quite familiar with the show but don't really like to use premade characters for things.  If it's just using the setting and concept, though, but all original characters, I can see it being lots of fun.

No premades so yeah, definitely an all original cast, just the concept and the history would be the same as the show, nothing more.  Boston I hadn't considered but again thanks for the votes everyone.  So far we seem to have a tie between Lost Girl and Pirates, kind of weird how that worked out so far lol.

Lol you and half the world I think had a crush on Elizabeth Turner lol.  Especially when she started to fight with the big boys and prove she was just as wicked with a sword as her husband by the third film.  I have a thing for women that can fight, what can I say?  :P  Joking aside, Wednesday is the last day this will be open for votes so get your votes in by then!  So far it seems we're close between Lost Girl and Pirates, with the latter leading by one measly vote lol.  Let's see some hustle out there!

For the longest time I thought it'd be Pirates that would win this little coin toss but it seems today that it will be Lost Girl that gets the cake.  So, I guess it's the modern fantasy show that gets to be my latest project.  Ok everyone, let's see who voted for the epic and get things going shall we?  ;D

Ok, first, I want to get a few notes out of the way before I turn you all loose to create your characters when I get a character sheet together.
http://lostgirl.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Species  Known Fae Species list.

http://lostgirl.wikia.com/wiki/Light_Fae  Lost Girl wiki page.  (Source reference material.)
Politics

The leaders of the Light Fae are named after sacred trees.

There is a local leader, The Ash and the High Council of High Elders, which conducts meetings with The Ash as a chairman.

There is also an overall governing body, a Council with The Blackthorn as a representative.

The relationships between the various Noble families that lead the Light Fae are volatile at best. None trusts the others and all think the others capable of assassination and manipulation for their own family's benefit. Despite the impending threat of the Garuda, they seem unwilling to cooperate.

Characteristics

Members of the Light Fae may eat humans but according to The Blackthorn they do so only for food, not sport. Otherwise they seek to protect the humans if they can.

The difference between Light Fae and Dark Fae is not the same as the difference between Good and Evil.

(Basically, there's a lot of shades of gray between the two to sum it up.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://lostgirl.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Fae  (Source reference material, same as before.)
Politics

Like the Light Fae, the Dark Fae have their own group of leaders and elders. While the Light name their leaders after sacred trees, the Dark title their leaders with the names of fallen warriors.

The Dark seem to hold the monopoly on the industrial and criminal elements of the city. Everyone is expected to pay a quota to The Morrigan from their businesses, and punishments are considered "unpleasant" if the quotas are not met.

Unlike the Light, who follow a strict set of rules, the Dark appear to follow no rules but their own. They are, however, respectful of the Old Laws like Blood Oaths and those governing territory. Despite animosity with the Light, it is made clear several times that the Dark have no interest in another Great War.

Characteristics

Many of the Dark Fae are portrayed as amoral and corrupt operating in activities that others would consider criminal and cruel. While many members of the Light practice restraint and control, many Dark revel in their abilities; embracing what their power for whatever means they so choose. While they do dispose of their human kills they are known for leaving a higher body count than the Light and according to a Light Elder have no qualms with murdering for pleasure as well. Essentially what sets the Dark Fae apart from the Light is their willingness to use their unique gifts purely for personal gain regardless of the consequences to those around them, especially humans.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To put it simply, the Light and Dark aren't as clearly defined as they might seem at first glance.  There have been evil Light Fae before, just as there has been good Dark Fae, but the general idea would remain the same though.  Dark Fae see humans as mere sport more times than not, while the Light see us as food but they try to protect their food source as best as they can.  Both sides do not want another Great War so let's try to avoid that shall we?  :P  Ok, setting wise I think someone said Boston so if everyone's cool with that we'll set this up there given its rich culture and history.  And before I forget, as I said once before, I do not want anyone trying to play an Under Fae, which are Fae that are either A, more animal like in their appetites and personalities, if they even have sentience beyond the animal level, or B, they cannot pass for human because of their outer appearance or because of how they act in general.  For example, in one episode a man like Fae in appearance, dressed as a human and everything, was locked up in the Light Fae's dungeon due to how dangerous he was since he used his telepathic abilities to use the Fae that happened to be closest to him at the time to commit suicide.  They classify him as an Under Fae though since he was more interested in harming others than trying to blend in.  Hence why I don't think any Under Fae would work in this.  One last thing, there can not be another Ash, Morrigan, or Blood King given how powerful they are in the Fae world and also because they are located elsewhere in the world anyway, beyond that anything else is up for grabs pretty much unless I say otherwise.

Considering that every single creature can be found in mythology I can understand that.  That's one thing I forgot to mention though guys and gals; every Fae is based in mythos in some form or another.  Wolf-shifters, vampires, sprites, wood nymphs, water nymphs, anything and everything is up for grabs.  If it hasn't been introduced in the show, feel free to do so yourself as long as you include a reference to your mythological origins in the character sheet I plan to put together.

Alright, folks.  I've agreed to Co-GM this and will be trying to help set up setting.

Here's part of the deal: since in the show, Light and Dark aren't supposed to see each other very much, and that'd make for a boring game, we'll be setting up neutral territory where everyone is allowed to go but nobody is allowed to feed.  The specifics are a bit up for grabs, but unless everyone wants to be either Light or Dark, it'll make things much easier.

The lethality of feeding methods will determine the rating of the game, as well as if we have people who want to play out such methods, and if we have people who want to play the mortals with unfortunate fates.

The way I imagine it, we'll likely have this as a type of game where people on the Light and Dark sides face off in a political arena, pecking at their enemies but trying not to cause so much overt damage that a war might erupt as a result.  (Simply ripping someone else's head off is likely to get you in trouble with your own side, who may just hand you over to the other side for judgment.)  This may not be the type of game that people want to play, in which case, let me know and I'll adjust.

Neutral zones are just the start.  After some thought and reading up on the Lost Girl wiki, I had forgotten that a lot of Fae have businesses and clubs they operate to appear human, so there are chances that a side controlled area thread could be put together so that you can do whatever you wish, (within the rules of your side and the rules in general,) in your place of business.  Vex for example has a Gothic/BDSM club, several in fact, that he uses to keep up human appearances while keeping the members of the local government happy, mainly so he can keep his liquor license but the fact remains the same in the end.  While controlled by the Dark, Light sided Fae are still welcome, but I'd keep your guard up all the same.

And finally, the character sheet ladies and germs.  :P

Name;  (Self explanatory I'm sure.)
Gender;
Age;  (Most Fae live a very long time, I just ask that you look over 18 if nothing else.)
Orientation;
Appearance;  (Pic or written.)
Fae Species;  (The Lost Girl wiki I listed a few posts ago has a pretty big selection already but feel free to do your own if it's not already listed.)
Mythology Origin;  (Either a summary and a direct link right to a wiki or whatever, so long as it's a REAL page please with real historical references.)
Societal status;  (Job in the 'human' world of things, social status, anything that will help you mix in with the normal people.)
Side;  (Light or Dark.  I love how Bo is neither but I'd prefer you guys didn't do so.)
Powers;  (Pureblood or hybrid Fae, all have their powers.  Feeding habits/leftovers will also be appreciated here, if you need to feed of course.  List them here please.)
Known Weaknesses;  (A lot of Fae have some kind of weakness or weaknesses.  Do your best to come up with a few unless they are well known such as vampires for example.)
Personality;  (I want at least one paragraph of five sentences, and NOT a list of personality traits.)
Background History;  (Two paragraphs of five sentences each, nothing less please.  This is your chance to go nuts so don't disappoint lol.)

Fae can feed on other Fae but it's not a common practice.  For some it's pretty fun, but NEVER kill another Fae, regardless, unless you want to pay the price lol.  And before anyone asks, I'm thinking myself and AndyZ will be the Light and Dark twins that have co-ownership of the Neutral Zone in Boston, probably another bar or club of some sort.  Beyond that, feel free to go nuts elsewhere.  If anyone wants to play as human you can but be careful given the obvious stuff, becoming a snack for a succubus or whatever lol.

Name;  Elizabeth 'Lilith'
Gender;  Female
Age;  1500
Orientation;  Bisexual
Appearance;
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Fae Species;  Succubus.
Mythology Origin;  http://lostgirl.wikia.com/wiki/Succubus
Societal status;  Current co-owner of a neutral zone, a Waystation in the old part of Boston.  (Can't think of a good Fae like name for the place.)
Side;  Dark
Powers;  Succubi feed on sexual energy through sexual intercourse or a simple kiss.  Either way, through the chi absorption, a succubus can heal their wounds at an accelerated rate.  Seductive Touch allows them to manipulate people through desire, making them willing to talk....among other things unless their wills are strong or they have natural resistances to such.  The Touch needs to be done through skin, and as long as a succubus is touching their prey, it remains, but it is draining.  The Touch also gives pleasure to both Fae and humans, but humans find it irresistible and have no defense against it.  Those that have it used against them grow devoted as long as it lasts or until they climax.  Resurrection through the giving of chi is also possible but like being able to stop feeding before a succubi's prey is done for, so too must they learn to control this power as well.  Resurrection makes those revived devoted to a succubus longer but again it doesn't last long.  Succubi also have superior strength and speed, and they grow stronger after a recent feeding, making them more dangerous than ever.
Known Weaknesses;  Few Fae are able to stand up against a succubus, except an Albaster.  Albasters are the exact opposites of succubi, meaning where a succubus creates feelings of desire and arousal, opening their prey up to pleasure through sexual gratification, the Albasters make their prey feel sexual shame and despair until they commit suicide more times than not, and they don't have to be engaged in sex to do it.  They are able to sense other Fae, and they favor succubi as their main prey when they can get away with it.  Beyond that, they are mortal and can bleed, be poisoned, and can generally be killed like a normal human.
Personality;  (I want at least one paragraph of five sentences, and NOT a list of personality traits.)
Background History;  (Two paragraphs of five sentences each, nothing less please.  This is your chance to go nuts so don't disappoint lol.)

((Will finish tomorrow, promise.))

Also Andy, what do you think of this pic for our little neutral zone?  Let me know when you can but if you have a better idea I'd love to hear/see it pal.  :D

Because of how powerful hybrids can become AndyZ and myself have agreed that it might be wise to cut hybrids out of this altogether.  Beyond that the world is yours as they say lol.  At any rate, this is going to be set in Boston as previously mentioned, and as far as time in the story goes
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
I'm thinking BEFORE the Light Council of Elders was suicide bombed at the end of Season 1,
so we have plenty of things we can do to keep us busy story wise if we so chose, unless Andy has a better idea of course.  :D  Events and what have you are definitely possible to keep things interesting, but Andy has control of the setting so I'll let him decide on this more than myself at present.  Anyway, hope to see more people soon.
