I've been using my iPad to download iTunes U courses. One of them was the TED course on Religion: Understanding Islam. I've felt that there was a VAST schism between the practicing Muslims I know and the image that is perpetuated in the media. Most of the folks I know are among the most tolerant and helpful folk I ever know, and the rest simply want to be left alone and stand off.
Maajid summed up WHY Islamic extremism has been beating up on Islamic Modernism so throughly. http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/maajid_nawaz_a_global_culture_to_fight_extremism.html
An interesting take on a man who used to be a radical extremist himself.
