Our Lips Are Sealed: Character SheetsOur Lips Are Sealed: Town of Castle HillOur Lips Are Sealed: Castle HillOur Lips Are Sealed: OOC
Have you ever stared up at an old, rickety house, and just wondered? Wondered what was in there; who once lived there; are they still there? Now, have you ever been dumb enough to find out? One boy was. Just before his ninth birthday, Paul Ravitz had moved to Castle Hill, New Hampshire. He was a curios boy and his parents were busy unpacking in their new home, so no one noticed when he slipped outside and ran down the street. No one saw Paul turn the corner, into the woods, and down a leaf-strewn path. No one heard him open that dirty, rusted old door and step inside. At least, that's what his parents thought.
However, the people of Castle Hill, New Hampshire new better, because the people of Castle Hill, New Hampshire stayed away from the small castle on top of the hill in their little town in New Hampshire. And the people of Castle Hill, New Hampshire kept their tightly-plastered smiles on their tightly-sealed lips as Paul Ravitz's parents repacked all their belongings and drove away, mourning the inexplicable loss of their loving little boy...Our Lips Are Sealed
This story will take place, most obviously, in Castle Hill, New Hampshire. It is ten years after the 'loss' of Paul Ravitz and there are three different groups in this town that can be played:The Known:The every day, average, smile-bearing, secret-knowing, back-stabbing towns people. They know everything that goes on upon The Hill but will never say a word of it to anyone. As long as they keep their mouths shut and continue to never step foot on Their grounds, they are safe from any harm. The only other task they must undertake is making sure to keep their town thriving; whether this is done by portraying the town as a tourist attracting, a family area, or whatever else they choose, there must be consistent traffic throughout the town and every single person knows this. The Unknown:This is what resides upon The Hill. They leave and make their way around the town whenever and however they please. Generally, they are very friendly and are close to many of the people in the town; some of the townspeople honestly enjoy Their company, others fake it to keep their lives, despising the sheer thought of them. As far as anyone knows, they are immortal, and they are delightful to look at. The men are handsome, the women are gorgeous, and they seem like every day people. So why are they so hated? No one knows what they truly are. To some, they are like a mixture between blood-suckers and fairy-tale monsters, feasting on the flesh of the 'wicked' and enjoying the pleasures of the 'welcome.' They, however, are the only ones able to make the decision of who is who; thus, they do with each as they please. The Visiting:The simplest but most fatal of the group, these folk are as their name implies: visiting. Those that move into the town, usually don't stay for very long, for they are either drawn to The Unknown, or they flee in terror. Those that find Castle Hill a place to vacation or sight-see are often-times horribly mistaken. There are very few who actually stay in Castle Hill, and usually, it is not of their own accord.
The Known have a mutual agreement among themselves and the Unknown: give Them what They want, and there will be peace. Take from Them or prevent Them from fulfilling their needs, and there will be hell. This is known throughout the town and no one disobeys it; it is almost like a natural law to them. From the day the land was settled in 1725, the land has been marked. Any and all kin of the original families of Castle Hill still reside in the town, only able to mix blood through the Visiting that pass through. There are only three different families that have the ability to leave the town: The Cranes', The Vardens', and The Tarnish's. Only the oldest female may leave the town, simply to bring Visiting to it or to collect specific needs for the town. These are known as the Sparrow.
Currently, the needed players are as follows:(Feel free to pick your own names, first and last, unless you are one of the three Sparrow, then you can only choose your first name. It is now late September and the Annual Corn Festival is coming up. This brings truck-fulls of Visiting to the town, making the townspeople anxious and the Unknown hungry. The story will begin on the twenty-ninth, a Saturday. The Festival is a week away and the town is beginning to set up. The Unknown are beginning to get angry; the summer brought a drop in Visiting, but today is the first day of the new arrivals.
This is a modern-day story, but the townspeople are somewhat 'trapped' in the past. Because they cannot leave the town, no major changes can really happen in the town, so it is preserved nearly exactly as it was founded. There may be televisions and radios in the town, by the televisions do not receive any channels and the only radio station is the one broadcasting out of Castle Hill, set up by one of the Known.
