United States of America.
after the ecnomic collapse of 2018 and military stagnation that followed the terror wars, the NATO alliance becoming insolvant with the advent of the paneuro-state. In order to protect it's own economy and national interistists from growing corprate influence the United States began to slowly adopt an isolationist and anti-gobalization stance, withdrawing military forces from all but a few key allies such as japan and great britian. the internet was the only thing coming out of America, and nothing save immigrants was getting in. america underwent a technological revoloution in cybernetics, robotics, and more. this technology had always existed, but suddenly americans began to put the seperate private industries togeather. aside from Japan and England, only russia established a trade agreement with the isolationist state. americans began looking upward, and the result of this was the eventual development of terraforming technology. Culturally america changed a bit, thinking more akin to the gilded age even the poor are wealthy by the standards of the rest of the world. For america this is an era of invention and industry, and untill the recent war, their eyes turned skyward with dreams of the stars. When russia entered the asian wars political powers in the united states began looking outward again, to old allies and potental new markets, like china they are looking to expand, not in terrority, but in influence. the world has moved on, and both china and europe are now forced to defend their conquered lands from a newly growing superpower. so far china is in an economic cold war across south america, and europe is loosing influence in africa their own precieved back yard in the US in the west and GLA in the east.
The terror wars taught america much about how to re-build a shattered nation, and that a deomcratic allied state with favorable views is prefreable to an unstable puppet state, africa has only benifeted from this. with their favorable position on the globe and long abused, but untapped recources and potental. american backed companies are investing in africa, turning it into a new breadbasket and making it staging ground for launching the world's first interplanetary colonial mission.
Now if only they can hold onto their optimistic view and not retreat back into their isolationist shell.
in it's military America relies on technology and strategic assets, it's military seperated into traditional land, sea, and air forces. america has a tradition of airpower, and it's current fighter jocks, while inexperienced, nonetheless excell in this role. on the ground america's cold fusion powered tanks, while not as powerful as china's nuclear powered models, are neither unstable, and more than a match thanks to their armor and main weapons.
America no longer uses low tech bullets in their standard weapontry, while a backup "slugthrower" is part of the standard infantry kit, the average american infantryman uses the world's first practical laser rifiles and shotguns. These weapons are cliples, silent, and simply vent heat after each shot, the disadvantage is they can melt and overheat if left on automatic for too long, and must be cleaned regularly to ensure maximum range. laser weapons are also used on tanks, but the belt cooling gatling lasers are built to avoid overheating, and can vent the heat as a secondary flamethrower-like affect.
the helicopter is a thing of the past, the american military uses silent drones and robots in battlefield support, humans remain the most effective force at pascifying an area, drones airborne and tracked fill close support roles carrying supplies, ambushing from the sky and ground, and entering kill zones to dislodge entrenched enemy troops.
The major advantage america always has is it's ability to support troops on the ground and logistics abiltiy. airstrikes, gunships, rockets, snipers, drones, and on and on. cut off from this support system american soldiers are at a major disadvantage. Special ops uses lasers without the targeting beam, and are thus invisible. American generals often have a great deal of leeway in selecting their forces and battle strategy.
Edison Eagle 15 VTOL Jet: king of the skies the Edison Eagle or E.E. 15 is a technological powerhouse capable of going into sub-orbit and breaking the sound barrier if needed. In the sky you do not hear or see an EE 15 at top speed, you see a blur coming at you, and though it takes computer targeting assistance to fire at top speed, you just die. But when slowling down an EE can switch between Jet and Gunship modes allowing it to speed in and either intercept other aircraft, or strafe large ground targets such as tanks or massed infantry, it's laser is in-effective at targeting single enemies. the disadvantage of this killer of the skies is it's pilot's stress levels. it is incredibly strainful to fly at top speed for prolonged periods. you do not trust such powerful weapons to a hackable, corruptable, computer.
