Van is very handsome, but surprisingly does not seem to know how to use it. His shock that a beauty such as Yvaytha would choose him to be her husband pleased him immensely, and he works hard to please her and keep her interest. He loves her completely, and while she is fond of him and does love him to a degree, her heart lies elsewhere. But Van has no idea, thinking Yvaytha equally in love with him. He lets her dominate the household, simply casting loving gazes her way. Should anyone tell him of his wife's true nature, he'll blissfully deny it, unwilling to think his wife a murderous, scheming seductress. It probably serves him best to be ignorant, if he ever did learn of her secrets, he would die of a broken heart.
