It takes some adjustment, since (among other things) Houses takes the line between GM and Player and nukes it from orbit.

Case in point--you never roll to see if you succeed or fail in this game.  You roll to see if you gain the privilege of narrating the outcome...and if you want to fail, you can.  (Why would you want to fail?  Sometimes it makes the story more interesting if you 'fail forward'.  Also, this is a game that involves tragedy.  Sometimes it's easier on your character to set the booby traps off a bit too early!)

By all means, read the rules summaries provided and ask questions when you have them!  This is a friendly game, not a cut-throat one: there is no honor and glory in taking undue advantage of newbies.  Moreover, it's Bad Form.

Also new to the system.

Huh.. I thought I made a reply, but I don't see it. Anywho's I feel better.

Ok, what I got so far is my gal's a young widow (possibly black), who's father is a Bear, and Mother is a Fox. Dad's a Marquis (thank you dice). She's the 3rd child, and only survivor. No kids of her own. She'll be following Dad as a bear.

Another possible cousin!  Oh, joy!   ;D  On either side of the family, no less.

Which is to say, Teague, if you're amenable to having a cousin in the game, Ato has a Bear for a mother and a Fox for a father and is thus suitable for such a connection.

Offline Teague

I have no objection to being a relative. :D

Consider yourself penciled in.  We can figure out which side of the family carries the connection later.  (bows politely)  This also means I can't pursue you as a romantic interest, now that I think about it...

Offline Teague

Who says? I mean.. *cough* Yes that would be wrong.

And all things considered.. you may not want to?

I'm pondering making her not very beautiful as her weakness. Not sure the flavor that could take though. She may just be very plain compared to the other beauties, and more concerned with being a warrior. That can have it's own allure.

For Beauty, read Charisma.  It's the Virtue that handles creativity, expressiveness, and natural charm.  Physical attractiveness is something completely different: an Aspect, perhaps, if anything.

If your character would rather go to a amateur fighting tournament than an opera, if she'd rather bellow blunt orders than construct an elegant elegy, if she's more concerned with large hunk dead meat for supper than a twelve-course meal...then Beauty would be a fitting weakness.

Just as a note, MP will be helping me out with some rules and minor NPC's, just as he seems to know the game very well and my work load is very high. Teague once your character is up and complete we can start :)

You have all been warned!   >:)

Lucky for you all, I'm the sort of GM who usually wears a tee shirt that reads 'Wimp' in big pink letters, my villainous reputation as a sadistic blackguard being mostly an exaggeration.

Mostly.

In the meantime, something to do is to name your province, your various regions, and even some of your vassals.  This is not necessarily required, but it prevents those awkward moments when your Liege asks you what your Roadmen are doing and you say something about 'bumming around in Region Four'.

 :-)

We can probably work on deciding Contacts as well, since those aren't reciprocal.

and that reminds me.  Hey, Athos!  Got a name for any grandparents or great-grandparents on the Wolfish side of the family?  One of 'em is  a Suaven that Ato's taken Devotion to for contractual reasons.  I'm open to suggestions.  Or I can run with it, if you'd prefer.

Honestly, I think I'm going to drop out of the game. It's been nearly a month since I've made the character, and without having anything to do with them, I feel like I've become disconnected. And I can't play a character I don't understand. My interest, likewise, has considerably waned from my initial extreme enthusiasm to "eh, whatever".

I hope you guys have fun, nonetheless, when it does get going.

A shame to lose you, no bad feelings. Look forward to gaming with you in something else.

We should probably at least get an OOC thread and Cast thread up somewhere, so that we can move all the chatter over there.

This'd probably be a bad time to start talking about my hopes for doing a Sith-ly variation on Blood and Honor, wouldn't it?   >:)

Lol I don't even have the additional source books, and were trying to keep it as simple as possible. (The rules are already a massive block of text) so we'll leave that ;D Straight HotB, with a few house-rules for simplicity.

Should have clarified--NOT thinking about doing that here.  That's a 'nice to try' project that's also on my tabletop group's back burner.   ;D

Just an aside--we've had a few folks drop under the radar, so I have a feeling we have room for a replacement or two!  In the meantime, Imma see if RD will let me kick something off...
