Betrayed...but by who

Sky kept silent, her breath even and her face devoid of emotion. Occasionally she would allow her eyes to wander to her surroundings but for the most part, she remained still. "So where exactly am I being taken.... Other than the obvious." She added as an after thought.

[Lady Jenn]

"From what I could see from the files your sister retrieved its one of the safehouses Firebrand have," Tyler replied. "Hostages, any information they can't risk putting on their mainframe...anything they consider too valuable to put somewhere people could find them easily gets stored in a 'safehouse'. Its what happened to me and your sister."

"Interesting... But why put anything up on their mainframe at all? It's just begging to get hacked into that way." She retorted, not understanding the reason for why people did half of the things they do.

[Lady Jenn]

"Because hackers don't know what to look for," Tyler replied. "There are hackers working for Firebrand, they know just about every way to encode files so hackers would see only what Firebrand wanted them to. Yuchi can see his way round the code cos he's one of the guys who designed the system in the first place."

"And they wouldn't expect traitors among those in charge of the coding? I know I would if I were them."

[Lady Jenn]

"They've probably changed it now," he replied. "Your sister extracted the data before they knew about Yuchi's defection, only your sister had access to the data she brought us so they have no reason to suspect we'd have it. At least, we'd better hope so or we're walking into a trap."

"How comforting." She growled, not liking the thought of walking into a trap. She had been in far too many thus far, and she wouldn't be sure how she would react if put into another situation like the previous.

[Lady Jenn]

They found themselves at a ring of APC's guarded by a man in the same uniform as the man at the airport who put an arm up to stop them before walking around to the driver's window and looking in.

"Will Raker, bringing in a new prisoner," Tyler said, take a deep breath as he saw the man looking at Skylar for a moment. "The codeword is Spiderdome." The man finally let them past, signalling the guards to move aside. "Well, this mission just officially started," he said to Skylar under his breath as they approached the house.

"She glared at the guard as they drove forward. "Question... when they get here what are you going to do? You can't keep your cover and help us at the same time on this one." Her voice was barely a whisper but she knew that he would have heard her... It was his job after all.

[Lady Jenn]

"Well at that point its gonna be kind of obvious to them I'm a double agent," he said. "So I think I'll be free to start shooting any villains who try to stop us. Not planning on going back to Firebrand unless its helping you."

"Fun. Can't wait to knock some heads together." She smiled slightly and laughed silently to herself. "By the way... Why was that guy looking at me funny? He had this.... what's the word for it... He looked pleased to see me, almost." She asked, allowing her voice to be a little louder, since it was a question that couldn't possibly blow their cover.

"I think that's a question you're better off not asking," Tyler said with a grimace. "If he tries anything funny I'm sure me or Morrison will be willing to knock him flat for you if you want," he said with a laugh. The pulled up to the house. Visible through the window were three women, a man and two young children, handcuffed and clearly worried. There were no guard visible through the window though. "Looks like they've left the hostages in the house with the guards staying outside. You go in, I need to check something."

"Ok, didn't need to know that... Besides, even handcuffed I could probably take his creepy ass on." She grimaced, thoroughly creeped out by the idea. With a shiver she looked at the window and sighed. "Do I tell them anything?"

[Lady Jenn]

"Keep up the act," he said out of the corner of his mouth as a guard passed the car. "We can't be sure that room isn't bugged and I don't fancy taking the risk until Raven Squad turns up and we're sure we have the firepower to back us up."

"So when do I get to go home?" She said in a normal voice and with as much attitude she could muster. "You creeps bore me. And I'm warning you now, you so much as look at me funny and I will kick your ass." She hissed, thoroughly enjoying blowing off steam through acting. "Oh, and I'm hungry... Got anything to eat?" She complained, trying to sound as childish as she could... which for her, wasn't hard.

"Just get yourself in there and stop complaining," he said loudly, leaning close to her and passing her a gun which he put in her lap. "Take it, I've got plenty of weapons myself," he said with a smile. "I'l join you in a second."

She growled but hid the gun quickly with gratitude. "If you couldn't handle me then why bother with a kidnapping." She rolled her eyes and stormed into the room where the other hostages were being held. She looked at them before choosing a corner to stand in, her eyes assessing every area they could see.

A tall man walked into the room and sat next to her. He had one arm in a sling and a nasty scar running across his left eye and was evidently more interested in Kayla than the other hostages.

"Kayla," he said. "I'm not surprised you don't recognise me, I almost didn't recognie you myself." He move the jecket he was wearing to reveal the uniform he was wearing. It was the uniform of Kayla and Morrison's unit, but covered in dirt and dried blood. "You probably don't remember me, I'm Tal, the team's comms officer...at least I was until the bomb anyway."

"Oh my gosh. I thought Morrison and I were the only survivors." Skylar said, sighing heavily. "Had I known that you were alright, I would have tried to get you out of there. I'm so sorry." She looked at him and all of his injuries with a heavy heart. "They didn't hurt you did they?" She hated it when hostages were harmed, and this one was a special case. He was somebody she worked with.

[Lady Jenn]

"My eye was the bomb's fault," he said. "About the only nice thing Firedrake did was their doctor tried to save it but there was nothing they could do. The arm they're responsible for though, they thought they could torture me into revealing where you and Morrison had gone. Even if I had had the faintest idea where you were I would've died before I betrayed either of you. When it was obvious I didn't know they threw me in here with the hostages and...well, that's where I've been ever since."

"After I got Morrison to safety, I decided to go looking for my sister. I had alead that brought me back to Firebrand. By the time I found her, it was already too late. They had a bomb strapped to her chest and all I could do to save her was shoot her. Did you see the man who brought me in? Will Raker? He was pretending to help me out but.... he ended up betraying me. Brought me here instead. I haven't a clue how long I've got. Apparently I might know something of interest to them... I was never really good with being tortured." She said, remembering her training. The torture training was her hardest... it wasn't meant to be all that dangerous but she managed to be the only one to ever get hurt.

"Well I would offer to help escaping but there's a load of guards out there and..." he paused, looking around him. "I wouldn't leave these kids here even if I was fit enough to get out of here." There was a sudden knocking noise from somewhere in the centre of the carpet, Tal's attention suddenly focusing on its source. "How can that be happening? There's nothing under there as far as I know."

Sky felt like smiling but she kept a straight face as she walked over to the source of the sound. "I don't know, but let's find out." She motioned to everyone to not say a word about it. Her eyes holding an authority they didn't have before. Nudging the carpet aside she pulled up the trap door and looked down. "See, look. Nothing is there." It was such a blatant lie, obvious enough to give them the idea that this was a rescue, but without saying it for fear of a bugged room.

There was a tall, red-headed man stood just below the trap-door, a finger held to his lips. The black bird emblazoned on one shoulder gave away his identity. Tom moved out of the shadow behind the man, a gun in one hand.

"How many guards are there?" he mouthed to her, not wanting to risk alerting anyone to Raven squad's prescence, even reluctant for the hostages to be aware yet.

She grimaced then turned to her old comrade. "Let's say you were in tip top shape... and you could bring all these hostages with you, what's the only thing stopping you from walking out of here? The gaurds right? How many do you think there are, anyway? It looked like perhaps over 30 men out there, what's your estimate?" She asked as if she were merely curious.
