So not fair, I wanna play a game...
« on: September 27, 2011, 09:56:15 AM »
Everytime I show interest in a thread it stops. Am I a pariah or something?

Love to Rp but can't ever get into anything that stays...

Anybody want to play with I'm up for anything except MxM relations

Hi selfexiled,

first and foremost you must fill in the questionaire  --> HERE
so you're approval process can get underway.

There are links there for rules to the site and everything else that you'll need but you do have to do your questionaire .

Maybe when that's taken care of, you can post up some game ideas you might have here so people will know what you are interested regarding themes for play.
Never forgetting of course that this part of the site is very PG-13

 ;D

I've done the questionnaire and have been sidebarred and awaiting my time to re-apply. I have been on this site for a good month or so and of the four or five threads I've shown interest in only one has started. All the others have stopped after my last post.
I'm not concerned with the adult Rps so much given that there are plenty of other avenues to run down. It is simply aggravating to show interest in something and then have it die before it starts, this is not the only site I have this issue with either.

I like rpgs always have always will and will at least try most anything once, but so far nothing is surviving long enough to tell fi it will be enjoyable.

Toss me out an idea then - those who know me, know I don't drop a game once it's up and running - unless I have very good cause, which has yet to happen.

the only thing I will say is that you will have to be extremely patient for my replies.
I have A LOT of games - group and solo. My group games come first and foremost and my solo's get replied to date wise - at the moment there seems to be about a five day turn around but that's because my muse has been active.

Well that's understandable, if youre upfront about there being delays its not so bad its when they just disappear thats a problem.

Never been one for creating so that might take a bit, i can throw out tons of ideas sure but creating a world to "live" in is a bit rough.

I find that on my own, just daydreaming or dreaming, I usually land in a medieval period. I'm also a firm believer that to replay a story already told, like movies or tv series sometimes books, is really not exciting plus it invites people to argue canon concepts against something new simply because it wasn't in the story the first time.

What are your preferences? As I said I find myself often in a suit of armor fighting dragons, ok not really but you get the idea. Any medieval fantasy works for me, single or group.

flesh out the world first I guess or some plot concept that we can fluff up

sorry am back and forth between replies have posts to get through ;)

Leave it with me because I can't just spin something off the top of my head right now, I locked away my plot bunnies in order to concentrate on my games lol

Try and come up with something yourself too and we'll throw them out here.
Even if you find an image that inspires you that might help the plot to form ... all good ;)
providing it's PG-13 of course  ;D

Well if your ava's any indication i'd say your bunnies arent hiding very well... sry there are times when i really should'nt speak.

Ok so medieval fantasy... lets inject all types of fantasy creatures instead of limiting it to certain races. Magic is as common and varied as the beings that posses them, as well as the manner in which it is performed.

Though humanity being as it is usually portrayed, far out number all other races but are also the least capable of magics but they do have magic users and the general populous has begun steps forward in technology to try to get level with magic users. Thinking a real life representation would be just before black/ gun powder became popular, only the wealthiest could obtain it and only in small amounts.

Hows that for something to work with?  I feel bad about this thread even the titel of it, it makes me look a child but im not, i swear.

*chuckles* my avatars change a lot!
blink and you've missed one, though some people keep there's for years.
and you're fine - I'll let you know if you've overstepped any boundary - my plot bunnies are awful at hide and seek, they lose all the time.  ;D

I like that we will not be restricted to type of creatures and races- we should probably make a list of those. ;) *cough ocd moment cough*

so the human's have mages / wizards - sorceresses some obviously stronger than others, some relying on staffs while others rely on talisman's etc.

what types of technology are you thinking here? just throw me out something so I have an idea ;)

that's pretty good Sherlock :P never mind the title, it's fine and I promise to look the other way when you throw a temper tantrum  8-)

Hehehe, waah waah waah. ok im better now.
My issue sometimes isnt finding them but deciding which one to listen to.

I would go with very crude hydraulics using water not oil and maybe a few attempts at coal based steam power. Then uhm perhaps some simple gears. Trying to not go crazy with the tech would like the world to still be very much magic dependant with a few shiny spots of tech inovation.

So far as fantasy creatures... just start pickin creatures you may have randomly heard about at one time and throw em in. lets see: elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, trolls, ogres, nymphs, treants, lycan, vamps, fairies, pixies, sirens, banshees, merfolk, boggarts, shades, ghosts, ghouls, undead... etc. Im sure Ill think of more later. While there are many different beings I would say limit the number of some just so it doesnt over populate the world with bodies. Kinda loses the appeal when you see so many creatures of the same race in every town/city.

I really shouldve done this earlier guess I was nervous no one would like it and plus it helps to have someone to bounce stuff off of.

Yeah the more crude the better, more magic dependent is more fun to rp in these kind of worlds.

That list seems fine, I wouldn't want us to go overboard either but it's not like we'll be shoving them all into the one scene as npc's or anything unless this becomes a group game and we allow characters from the different races. That in itself could sport all sorts of problems as well though.

E is all about the learning curve, so don't beat yourself up and brainstorming is good ;)

Just a heads up that I'm totally swamped today and will be leaving tomorrow for the entire weekend, just so you don't panic and think I'm ignoring this and have left you to your own devices. I just genuinely won't be around to post.

Thats not a problem, real life comes first it just helps to know that that's what's happening.

*whispers* also didnt mention it yesterday but the fact that you have a redhead ava is killer i could stare at it all day.

*smiles* am back and get used to the red haired avatars - most of the time that's what I use ;)

Have a gazillion things to catch up, work being the biggest but will continue to pop in here to see how we're moving along

Did you want one specific race or two to begin with?

creating a world is all fine and dandy but somewhere in all of this we'll have to construct a plot too ;)

Wow ok this avi got me thinking of a cat in a tree, someone call the fireman to get the pussy cat down.

Sorry figure a little humor is a good way to start.

So far as a specific race to start up with it doesnt greatly matter which, but a plot would help decide that better.
Of course plots are always relatively the same, some big evil is trying to take over the world and someone appears to stop them. Or the world has gone off the deep end and now everyone is just tryin to survive. Mmmm do you have a preference?

am sorry haven't been very helpful as yet
seriously if you saw the list of games I post too and then RL work on top of it, you'd understand my muse flees for cover every now and then >.<

will genuinely try to consider something here for you ;)

Hey it's ok RL always takes priority and you've already made commitments to other threads it happens. I'm just happy someone is responding with a moderate frequency.

So I see the avi is geared up for halloween... she holding her own heart?

Uhm could have a plot consisting of: since humanity has limited access to magic and have gone to science and machinary, they are tryin to push for a magic free world of course on the other side of that the fey creatures are wanting a magic only world. Throw in extremist groups on both sides as well as middle ground groups and the like???

If you prefer anything else just drop a line.

tis a play on 'eat your heart out' -- silly girl took it literally ;)

was thinking we'd have a world (  ::) ) and in this world there are 5 countries or domains. We center our story on one particular domain that is heavily human based, all the others are mainly elven based. For hundreds of years wars were fought between humans and elves which saw them basically winning more and more territory for themselves while the human population were either enslaved for dubious means or fled to the only known human domain left. Here the greatest human minds have tried to out smart magic by building various machines that they think will help them. They have also over many years been training certain humans in the art of magic. They plan to combine their magic with the machines in order to swing the tide in their favour as they know that the next war that comes will be on their very door step.

We can decide from there if where we actually wanted to start in the story
...
either in the magic training facility
the scientists building the machines
the scientists testing the machines with magic incorporated
etc etc

As am I, though with only us responses can be quicker than waiting for multiple people. Could run through it with us and if turns out well restart it as a group play. You have any leanings either way?

Very true so how about we do that then ;)

if that's the case then we have a background plot but no substantial subplot for two characters - did you want us both to be human or one be an elf and the other human?

All good things take time right...

So far as race goes I'll leave it up to you what you would prefer. So far as subplot uhm my muse is on a coffee break ill have to get back to ya on that one less you have a few thoughts yourself.
