Youtube video help
« on: September 13, 2011, 12:04:22 AM »
I wanted to know how to post a video on this site. Every time I try to add the embeded link it does not show up as a video, just the link.

It either shows up like this:

<iframe width="560" height="345" src="" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

or

http://youtu.be/uelHwf8o7_U

or

<object width="560" height="345"><param name="movie" value=""></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="345" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Just post the raw link to the video.

Code: [Select]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ96FHEEI7k
Becomes
Halestorm - Bad Romance (Lady Gaga Cover)

No need for any fancy embedding code.

As a corollary, what's the easiest way to "dis-embed" a youtube hyperlink?  Seems BBcode wants to embed videos by default.

Example:link

Want to just make that into a link (I used bit.ly in this case).

The easiest is to use the [*noembed] tag. (without asterisks).

[*noembed][*/noembed]

[noembed][/noembed]

OR

[*noembed][*url=]Watch This[/url][*/noembed]

[noembed]Watch This[/noembed]
