Role: Adventurer (Soulknife)
Name: Rhis Jhaeryn
Race: Dark Elf
Equipment: Silk robe with matching silk belt, undergarments
A daughter of the influential House Jhaeryn, Rhis was pampered as a potential new priestess of Lloth.
But it was not to be. Little Rhis could not focus clerical magic, and she was rejected, never to know the power and prestige of being a House Matron.
Rhis was but eight years of age when she discovered her innate talent for destruction. She could, at that age, manifest a small dagger-like blade... of pure mental force. Hiding her ability from her siblings, mother, aunts, and cousins, Rhis toyed with the ability... experimented. Over the years, she learned to focus her ability, and alter the size and shape of the blade.
Four years ago, her mother suddenly appeared in her quarters, whisking her away and into the seemingly endless caverns and tunnels of the Underdark. Reaching Skullport, Rhis' mother was attacked and enslaved, sent up for sale on the notorious slave auction. Purchased by a human, of all things, little Rhis silently followed the human(who pulled her mother along on a leash). Much to her surprise, the little Drow followed the human to the surface, which was thankfully quite dark.
Found hours later, huddling in the shade and hiding from the burning sun, a priestess of Eilistraee took her back to Skullport, to the vast temple of Eilistraee located there. Still unable to channel divine magic, little Rhis trained in arms, seeking to find her enslaved mother and free her. She has spent a number of years searching the surface world by night, learning to tolerate the sun in case she was too far to escape to the Underdark before dawn.
She was later assaulted by a small band of human and elven adventurers, and grievously wounded. Begging for help, the Human Priestess knelt and imparted a healing spell to little Rhis, which closed her painful sword wound.
On further questioning, the group's human paladin determined that little Rhis was not evil at all, as she had not attacked any of them as they tried to wound her. She had no weapons, no holy symbols of spell components, was barely clothed, even. As such, they chose to bring her with them. The Priestess and Rhis became fast friends soon after, the petite Drow finding it strange to encounter clerics in service to gods she'd never heard of before. Not to mention spending time with another woman who wasn't gruff or asking for something.
Having begged the assembled Adventurers for their help in finding her mother, and being turned down, Rhis sadly chose to leave the ragtag bunch of adventurers, continuing in her search for her enslaved mother.
Rhis went as far east as Thay, often ducking back into the Underdark to avoid troublesome villages and cities, searching for clues as to where the human took her mother. She turned back west, traveling along the northern coast of the Sea of Stars.
Rhis was given a hostile reception upon arriving in Waterdeep, not far above Skullport, her old home. Drow were not terribly liked within the port city, and the Drowess was turned away.
She didn't make it more than a day out of Waterdeep, heading north, when she was stopped by a beautiful human with long silver hair. Introducing herself as Laeral Silverhand, whom Rhis learned was the 'Lady of Waterdeep'; Rhis was taken by the arm and teleported into Waterdeep, into the Mage's tower.
Laeral revealed that she'd heard of the comely Drow maiden's quest to find and free her mother, and had cast divinations to see if she could aid the young Drowess.
It was revealed to Rhis that her mother was being held in Sargauth Enclave, an old Netherese outpost deep within Undermountain and not far from Skullport. Rhis was lead to an entrance into Undermountain, where the little Drowess was sent below with Laeral's blessing.
When Rhis finally found her mother, she discovered that her mother had been used as a magical experiment, and had perished under the effects of the new spell. Feeling angry and vengeful, Rhis found the brute of an evil cleric and attacked from hiding.
Sadly, little Rhis was laid low, exhausted from her trek through the underground labyrinth known as Undermountain. The man chose to take her to the Magess who had conducted the spell upon her mother, a woman known as Arcturia.
When the area known as Undermountain nearly collapsed, leading to the death of not only Arcturia, but the Cleric and the Mad Archmage, Halaster Blackcloak, a fantastic explosion of magical energy manifested.
With that manifestation of pure magic, long held dormant within the ancient Netharese temple that connected Skullport to Undermountain, little Rhis, formerly of House Jhaeryn; found herself in an unknown, unforgiving land.
