Most 'Political' songs are targetted at one specific thing, whether it be a Government, big business, or war, but this one just says it all and the message is clear. (At least to me)

"We need to find courage, overcome, inaction is a weapon of mass destruction"

So take a look at the lyrics, click the link and have a listen to it and remember, it's down to us.....

FAITHLESS - Mass Destruction

(Whether long range weapon or suicide bomber
Wicked mind is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether you're soar away sun or BBC 1
Misinformation is a weapon of mass destruc
You could a Caucasian or a poor Asian
Racism is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether inflation or globalization
Fear is a weapon of mass destruction)

My dad came into my room holding his hat
I knew he was leaving,
he sat on my bed told me some facts, son.
I have a duty, calling on me
You and your sister be brave my little soldier
And don't forget all I told ya
Your the mister of the house now remember this
And when you wake up in the morning give ya momma a kiss
Then I had to say goodbye

In the morning woke momma with a kiss on each eyelid,
Even though I'm only a kid
Certain things can't be hid
Momma grabbed me
Held me like I was made of gold
But left her inner stories untold
I said, momma it will be alright
When daddy comes home, tonight

[CHORUS]

Whether long range weapon or suicide bomber
Wicked mind is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether you're soar away sun or BBC 1
Misinformation is a weapon of mass destruc
You could a Caucasian or a poor Asian
Racism is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether inflation or globalization
Fear is a weapon of mass destruction

Whether Halliburton or Enron or anyone
Greed is a weapon of mass destruction

We need to find courage, overcome
Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction
Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction
Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction

The skin under my chin
is exploding, again.
I'm getting stress from some other children.
I'm holding it in, we taking sides, like a politian
an if I get friction we get to fightin.
I defend my dad he's the best of all men
an whatever he's doin he's doin the right thing.
Its frightenin but it makes me mad, why do all
of these people seem to hate my dad?
an if that ain't enough, now I've got these spots.
I go to sleep every night with my stomach in knots.
and whats more I can hear Mama next door
explore the radio for reports of war.
and all we ever seem to do is hide the tears,
seems Daddy been gone for years.
But he was right, now I'm geared up for the fight
an he would be proud of me if Daddy came home tonight.

[CHORUS]

My story stops here, lets be clear
This scenario is happening everywhere
And you ain't going to nirvana or farvana
You're coming right back here to live out your karma
With even more drama than previously, seriously
Just how many centuries have we been
waiting for someone else to make us free
And we refuse to see
That people overseas suffer just like we
Bad leadership and ego's unfettered and free
Who feed on the people they're supposed to lead
I don't need good people to pray and wait
For the lord to make it all straight
There's only now, do it right.
Cos I don't want your daddy, leaving home tonight

[CHORUS]

Ok, I'm listening to Fairy Tale of New York - The Pogues and Kirsty Macoll, it the one song that really shows what real Christmas's are like.
Forget, the cutesy stuff. This song just speaks of the Holidays to me.

Probably makes me sound like a real Scrooge, but I do actually get really excited about Christmas and enjoy it from Dec1st onwards.........I just hate the commercialism of it and the whole false goodwill to all men crap.

It was Christmas Eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won't see another one
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They've got cars big as bars
They've got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me

You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day

You're a bum
You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ltiY-BqvOIU

So sit back and enjoy not only good music by two talented artists but a true to life Christmas story.

*Holds up hand*

Yes...believe me...if I have heard, "Is it Christmas yet?" once, then I have heard Strangely say it a dozen times this week.

AND......

Yes, I have to agree with him, go on..tell me truthfully, how many can put your hands on your hearts and tell me that there's not at least ONE arguement in your family over the 'festive season'?

I love this song *grins*

I came across the video to this on youtube awhile back when looking for random things - and instantly fell in love with it despite the fact it's not something I normally listen to. It's pretty short and the video is very unique, and a bit creepy. I suggest watching it xD.

This song means even more to me now that I have a memory with it. When I first found it I sent it to a good friend of mine. He was kind of depressed and having girl problems. Afterwards he ended up in a rant about how the song was true. So after he logged I quickly ganked my credit card  and sent him a bouquet of flowers and a teddy bear to his dorm room. In the card I put the lyrics: " I'll buy you flowers, like no other girl did before. "

He was really surprised and he absolutely loved them and said it cheered him up a lot.  So now whenever I hear the song it reminds me of it. Makes me giggle to. He was so surprised xD.

Emilie Simon - "Flowers"

I want to buy you flowers
It's such a shame you're a boy
But when you are not a girl
Nobody buys you flowers
I want to buy you flowers
And now I'm standing in the shop
I must confess I wonder
If you will like my flowers

You are so sweet and I'm so alone
Oh darling please
Tell me you're the one
I'll buy you flowers
I'll buy you flowers
Like no other girl did before

You were so sweet and I was in love
Oh darling don't tell me
You found another girl
Forget the flowers
Because the flowers
Never last for ever
Never last for ever
Never last for ever
My love

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth
I have to go, I have to go
Your hair was long when we first met

Samson went back to bed
Not much hair left on his head
He ate a slice of wonder bread and went right back to bed
And history books forgot about us and the bible didn't mention us
The bible didn't mention us, not even once

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the stars came falling on our heads
But there just soft light, there just soft light
Your hair was long when we first met

Samson came to my bed
Told me that my hair was red
He told me i was beautiful and came into my bed
Oh I cut his hair myself one night
A pair of dull scissors and the yellow light
And he told me that I'd done alright
and kissed me till the morning light, the morning light
and he kissed me till the morning light

Samson came back to bed
not much hair left on his head
Ate a slice of wonderbread and went right back to bed
Oh, we couldn't bring the columns down
Yeah we couldn't destroy a single one
And history books forgot about us
And the bible didn't mention us, not even once

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first

- Samson by Regina Spektor

I'm writing a solo project right now, main character is named Delilah, and this is one of the songs I happened to pull into my "While I'm writing" playlist.

Day, by Fat Jon
I love this man's music simply because its so relaxing. Due to my extremely vivid imagination and visual mind... I tend to close my eyes and think up wonderful stories and scenarios to the beat and melody of the music. Each with their own unique setting, world, everything. And its not only this song. Anything by 'Fat Jon the Ample Soul Physician' is absolutely wonderful.

Feather, by Nujabes
The lyrics in this song are beautiful. The music is amazing, and the voice is okay. This is one of the few songs I will listen to with lyrics. They stay true to the real world. And the soft piano fits perfectly.

[Verse 1:]
Light As A Feather
When I'm Floatin Through
Readin Through The Daily News
Measuring The Hurt Within The Golden Rule,
Centimetres Of Ether I'm Heatin The Speaker
Motivational Teacher With Words That Burn People
Seeing The Headlines Lined With Discord
It's Either Genocide, All The Planet In Uproar
Never Good But Rules Of Paradise Are Never Nice
The Best Laid Plan Of Mice And Men Are Never Right
I'm Just A Vagabond With Flowers For Algernon
The Average Joe Who Knows What The Fuck Is Goin On
It's The Hope Of My Thoughts That I Travelled Upon
Fly Like An Arrow Of God Until I'm Gone

[Chorus:]
So I'm Driftin Away Like A Feather In Air
Lettin My Words Take Me Away From The Hurt And Despair
So I'm Keepin It Vertical Forever Elevator
Ridin The Escalator To The Somethin That Is Greater
So I'm Driftin Away Like A Feather In Air
Lettin My Soul Take Me Away From The Hurt And Despair
So I'm Keepin It Vertical Forever Elevator
Ridin The Escalator To The Somethin That Is Greater

[Verse 2:]
Taking Chances
Word Tap Dancing With Wolves
In An Ice Arena Out There, Deep In The Woods Of Arizona
The Sun Be High, Life's Ironic
Aint Tryin To Be Talib When I Write
Surreal Life I Paint It Vivid Habitat Crazy Insane
Watch The Propaganda 6 O'clock News That Are Saying
Cultures Clash For Black Folk And White Trash
They Revel In The Cyberspace That Might Crash
Dash To Millineum A Million Miles Of Runnin
At The Speed Of Now Back Don't Return Gunnin
Rambo Style Gunho Child Gunnin
Ammo Blao Two Times Loud Stunnin
Stunnin When I Hit Ya Lift You Off The Earth Like
Ayo Take You Right Back To Birth
And Niggaz Wonder Why They Might Wonder Why
This Shit Might Happen But It Does, They Go

[Chorus:]
Driftin Away Like A Feather In Air
Lettin My Words Take Me Away From The Hurt And Despair
So I'm Keepin It Vertical Forever Elevator
Ridin The Escalator To The Somethin That Is Greater
So I'm Driftin Away Like A Feather In Air
Lettin My Soul Take Me Away From The Hurt And Despair
So I'm Keepin It Vertical Forever Elevator
Ridin The Escalator To The Somethin That Is Greater

[Verse 3:]
Treat You Better Than Me
Because That's The Heavenly Key
To Unlock The Inner Strength
Where My Essence Will Be
It's The Knowledge Of Self
Understanding Of The Things Around Me
That Becomes The Wisdom That I Need
Living This Life To The Best Of My Ability
Channelling Energy To My Thoughts Into Your Symmetry
Remember Me Because My Clothes Remain Gold
I Got The Gift Of Gab Like Them Pimps In Kangols
It Never Ends I Keep It Rulin Like A Cypher
The First Caveman Bringin Fire
Innovating And Higher To Blast Mistakes I Raise The Stakes
It's Double Or Nothing In This Vaccuum-Less Space
I Will Survive,Divine The Time To Cry Fuck A Hold Or Hide I'm Alive With Pride
And I Drove The Chevy To The Levy
But The Levy Was Dry Singin "This Will Be The Day That I Die"

A Case of You, by Joni Mitchell

This song speaks to me of love and interpersonal addiction, the power of having somebody get under your skin and deeper still than that, being intoxicating and yet leaving you feeling fresh and energized as the world tilts up on its axis and realigns in a new way. It's the sweet pain of being in love and knowing that time and circumstances of the world and of lives have changed the substance and flavor of that love, and coming to terms with that fact that despite not being what once it was, or what you'd expected, nonetheless it's sweet, and fills you.

------

Just before our love got lost you said,
"I am as constant as a northern star."
And I said, "Constantly in the darkness
Where's that at?
If you want me I'll be in the bar."
On the back of a cartoon coaster
In the blue TV screen light
I drew a map of Canada
Oh Canada
With your face sketched on it twice
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you, darling
And I would still be on my feet
Oh I would still be on my feet

Oh I am a lonely painter
I live in a box of paints
I'm frightened by the devil
And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid
I remember that time you told me, you said,
"Love is touching souls"
Surely you touched mine
'Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you, darling
Still, I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet

I met a woman
She had a mouth like yours
She knew your life
She knew your devils and your deeds
And she said,
"Go to him, stay with him if you can
But be prepared to bleed"
Oh but you are in my blood
You're my holy wine
You're so bitter, bitter and so sweet
Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet

Oh how I love that strange gravelly voice and those very offbeat and often surreal lyrics.
This is one of my favourites.

Being pestered by men girls?
Simple solution, dope them up to the eyeballs, get them to have sex with each other and then feed 'em to the cats....

CRASH TEST DUMMIES
"Two Knights And Maidens"

Once there were two knights and maidens
They'd walk together
Out in the gardens
In all kinds of weather

The knights always pestered the maidens
To love them together
Out in the gardens
And they could watch each other

The maidens had other plans for the two knights
They'd give them potions
And make them see dreams and lights

The knights took the potions gladly
They laughed at their visions
But outside the garden
Tigers smelled them together

The maidens had other plans for the two knights
They'd give them potions
And make them see dreams and lights

The knights only laughed at the tigers
They thought they were visions
Out in the garden
The maidens watched them together

Ah, but for the two knights
Ah, but for maidens
Who gave to them dreams and lights

I was 13 when this song came out (way back in '71) and we've got it on our play list. Surprisingly enough, all three of us (Strangely, Beastgirl and myself) all like it, it spawns a lot of conversation about the past, how music has changed and how sometimes simple lyrics can mean a lot.

Slade was one of the greatest of the early glam rockers, they're still going now and the lead singer, Noddy Holder has had his fingers in many a pie, including radio presenting and acting.

The youtube link is from their origional appearance on 'Top of the Pops', shown here on 'Top of the pops 2', a program showing the best of the very long run origional.
It's worth watching for the flavour of the seventies and the little snippits of information you get, as well as the comentry at the end....

I had wanted to also give you a link the Nody holder's acoustic version he did during a TV series, called The Grimeleys. He was playing a school teacher and was sat in the school hall, just himself and his guitar, it actually had me in tears.
Unfortunately I can't find it anywhere.

Slade - Coz I Luv You

I won't laugh at you when you boo-hoo-hoo coz I luv you
I can turn my back on the things you lack coz I luv you
I just like the things you do mmm,
don't you change the things you do mmm
You get me in a spot and smile the smile you got and I luv you
You make me out a clown then you put me down I still luv you
I just like the things you do mmm,
don't you change the things you do mmmm

When you bite your lip you're gonna flip your flip but I luv you
When we're miles apart you still reach my heart how I love you
I just like the things you do mmm,
don't you change the things you do mmm,
Only time can tell if we get on well coz I luv you
All that's passed us by we can only sigh hihi coz I luv you
I just like the things you do mmm,
don't you change the things you do mmm.

I'll Cover You - from RENT

I've been a sucker for this whole show since I first saw it, and the love song between these two is the most fearless, unabashedly joyful expression of love shown amidst a shifting frightened circle of young people hurt by past loves and wary of letting themselves be vulnerable to anyone.

ANGEL
live in my house I'll be your shelter
just pay me back with one thousand kisses
be my lover and I'll cover you

COLLINS
open your door I'll be your tenant
don't got much baggage to lay at your feet
but sweet kisses I've got to spare
I'll be there and I'll cover you

BOTH
I think they meant it when they said you can't buy love
now I know you can rent it
and new lease you are my love
one life be my life

just slip me on I'll be your blanket
wherever whatever I'll be your coat

ANGEL
you'll be my king and I'll be your castle

COLLINS
no you'll be my queen and I'll be your moat

BOTH
I think they meant it when they said you can't buy love
now I know you can rent it
and new lease you are my love
one life be my life

I've longed to discover something as true as this is

COLLINS
So with a thousand sweet kisses I'll cover you with a thousand sweet kisses I'll cover you
when you're worn out and tired when you're heart has expired

ANGEL (at the same time)
if you're cold and you're lonely you've got one nickel only
with a thousand sweet kisses I'll cover you with a thousand sweet kisses I'll cover you

BOTH
oh lover I'll cover you
yeah
oh lover I'll cover you

Foo Fighters - Best of You

I think this song might have been written about me... well at least the part about having no faith and trust in ohers.

I've got another confession to make
I'm your fool
Everyone's got their chains to break
Holdin' you

Were you born to resist or be abused?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?

Are you gone and onto someone new?
I needed somewhere to hang my head
Without your noose
You gave me something that I didn't have
But had no use
I was too weak to give in
Too strong to lose
My heart is under arrest again
But I break loose
My head is giving me life or death
But I can't choose
I swear I'll never give in
I refuse

Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Has someone taken your faith?
Its real, the pain you feel
You trust, you must
Confess
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Oh...

Oh...Oh...Oh...Oh...

Has someone taken your faith?
Its real, the pain you feel
The life, the love you'd die to heal
The hope that starts the broken hearts
You trust, you must
Confess

Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?

I've got another confession my friend
I'm no fool
I'm getting tired of starting again
Somewhere new

Were you born to resist or be abused?
I swear I'll never give in
I refuse

Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Has someone taken your faith?
Its real, the pain you feel
You trust, you must
Confess
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Oh...

Just because...

"Sleeping With The Light On"

Along she came, with her picture,
Put it in a frame, so I won't miss her,
Got on a plane, from London; Heathrow,
It seems such a shame, yea..

[Chorus:]
I feel her. Slipping through my fingers,
Now she's gone, I'm sleeping with the light on,
And shocks went through my veins now, that she's gone,
I'm sleeping with the light on.

Heard she's engaged, spoke to her best friend,
No ones to blame, here's where it all ends,
And I feel the pain, 'cause I'm without her,
I feel the pain.

[Chorus]

I see the sight, with a different light,
Words cannot describe the way I'm feeling,
'Cause I've been searching in my head,
For the words I thought she'd said,
For too long.

[Chorus x3]

I just returned from seeing Jeffrey Gaines in concert. It was like 40 people in the upstairs room of some restaurant/bar. There was alcohol, an awesome intimate atmosphere, and him playing his butt off. Then he played this song that made me cry, so I'm listening to it again. Blah.

TO LOVE HER INSIDE

Please do not disturb her
She's hoping to put her affaris in their place
Looks in the mirror
Not much fun coping with all the new lines on her face

The fact that she's lonely
She makes the rules
Surrounds herself with fools
Throws 'round all her money
But that's what it takes
To white wash her mistakes from view

Still one ambition remains
An aching hunger denied
To live life as mother and wife

To know someone loves her inside

Dreams like only a child can
Beaming with light
The most wonderful light in the world
But wakes from her slumber
More onion than pearl
And she's nobody's little blond girl

The fact is she never
Recognized others
Not sisters or brothers or you
But words will not hurt her
'Cause all she perceives is all she believes to be true

Still she sits staring alone
A prisoner of her bullshit pride
In a castle she'll never call home

Until sombody loves her inside

She still can't accept who she is
But up on that stage she can hide
From all of the things she will miss

Like someone to love her inside

Won't somebody love her inside

Won't somebody love her........

Having one of those weekends where my world is sideways and so is everyone elses.  Just feeling unloved and there's really no reason for it, but i am and this just came on and i said, yes, that's me right now...

One by U2

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...

One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One...life

Well, I'm tired of feeling down and stressed. Money's been tight the last couple weeks since I had to pay for a bunch of crap for my business, and my health insurance shot up pretty good too which didn't help. And honestly, when money gets tight I tend to stress a lot even though I know it'll work out in the end. Still aside from that, I've been feeling a little lonely recently, even though I have lots of wonderful friends and all, I just, I don't know, feel a bit disconnected recently.

Anyway, I decided I don't want to be in this funk anymore, so I'm listening to various punk rock bands and others in that vein. Right now:

Manic Street Preachers - Rendition

Rendition, rendition, blame it on the coalition
All the emeralds that are missing, oh I wish we still had jack lemon
Rendition, rendition I never knew the sky was a prison
It's a long hard revolution, oh good god I feel like a liberal

For tomorrow I will beg, steal and borrow
And at the moment im jumping at sorrow
I wish I knew what I did wrong
Can anybody hear the screaming of us? The screaming of us
In the long hard revolution

Rendition, rendition, blame it on the coalition
The CIA will stay invisible, oh good god I sound like a liberal
Rendition, rendition I never knew the sky was a prison
It's a long hard revolution, oh good god I feel like a liberal

For tomorrow I will beg, steal and borrow
And at the moment im jumping at sorrow
I wish I knew what I did wrong
Can anybody hear the screaming of us? The screaming of us
In the long revolution

For tomorrow I will beg, steal and borrow
And at the moment im jumping at sorrow
I wish I knew what I did wrong
Can anybody hear the screaming of us? The screaming of us
In the long revolution

I'm listening to Shakira now, cuz I like to dance to the music. Gonna start in a minute ten or so is the following, my favorite shakira dancing song. Cuz it makes me feel sexy, even when I'm dancing by myself. :)

"Whenever, Wherever"

Lucky you were born that far away so
We could both make fun of distance
Lucky that I love a foreign land for
The lucky fact of your existence

Baby I would climb the Andes solely
To count the freckles on your body
Never could imagine there were only
Ten Million ways to love somebody

Le ro lo le lo le, Le ro lo le lo le
Can't you see
I'm at your feet

Whenever, wherever
We're meant to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near
And that's the deal my dear

Thereover, hereunder
You'll never have to wonder
We can always play by ear
But that's the deal my dear

Lucky that my lips not only mumble
They spill kisses like a fountain
Lucky that my breasts are small and humble
So you don't confuse them with mountains
Lucky I have strong legs like my mother
To run for cover when I need it
And these two eyes that for no other
The day you leave will cry a river

Le ro le le lo le, Le ro le le lo le
At your feet
I'm at your feet

Whenever, wherever
We're meant to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near
And that's the deal my dear

Thereover, hereunder
You'll never have to wonder
We can always play by ear
But that's the deal my dear

Le ro le le lo le, Le ro le le lo le
Think out loud
Say it again

Le ro lo le lo le lo le
Tell me one more time
That you'll live
Lost in my eyes

Whenever, wherever
We're meant to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near
And that's the deal my dear

Thereover, hereunder
You've got me head over heels
There's nothing left to fear
If you really feel the way I feel

This song.. it's good.

"It's Not Over" - Daughtry

I was blown away.
What could I say?
It all seemed to make sense.
You've taken away everything,
And I can't deal with that.
I try to see the good in life,
But good things in life are hard to find.
We'll blow it away, blow it away.
Can we make this something good?
Well, I'll try to do it right this time around.

Let's start over.
I'll try to do it right this time around.
It's not over.
'Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground.
This love is killing me,
But you're the only one.
It's not over.

Taken all I could take,
And I cannot wait.
We're wasting too much time
Being strong, holding on.
Can't let it bring us down.
My life with you means everything,
So I won't give up that easily.
I'll blow it away, blow it away.
Can we make this something good?
'Cause it's all misunderstood.
Well, I'll try to do it right this time around.

Let's start over.
I'll try to do it right this time around.
It's not over.
'Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground.
This love is killing me,
But you're the only one.
It's not over.

We can't let this get away.
Let it out, let it out.
Don't get caught up in yourself.
Let it out.

Let's start over.
I'll try to do it right this time around.
It's not over.
'Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground.
This love is killing me,
But you're the only one.
It's not over.

Let's start over.
It's not over, yeah...
This love is killing me,
But you're the only one.
It's not over.

I'm listening to Tom Waits - Everything Goes to Hell.

Why be sweet, why be careful, why he kind?
A man has only one thing on his mind
Why ask politely, why go lightly,
Why say please?
They only want to get you on your knees
There are a few things I never could believe
A woman when she weeps
A merchant when he swears
A thief who says he'll pay
A lawyer when he cares
A snake when he is sleeping
A drunkard when he prays
I don't believe you go to heaven
When you're good
Everything goes to hell, anyway...

Laissez-faire mi amour, ce la vie
Shall I return to shore or swim
Back out to sea?
The world don't care what a soldier
Does in town
It's all hanging in the windows
By the pound
There are few things
I never could believe...

A woman when she weeps
A merchant when he swears
A thief who says he'll pay
A lawyer when he cares
A snake when he is sleeping
A drunkard when he prays
I don't believe you go to heaven
When you're good
Everything goes to hell, anyway...

I only want to hear your purr and to hear
You moan There is another man who brings
The money home
I don't want dishes in the sink
Please don't tell me what you
Feel of what you think
There are few things I never could believe...

"Who knows where thoughts come from Joe? They just appear!"

*shrugs and grins* Hormonal imbalance? Or just because it was what was on my playlist at the time, and has interesting lyrics.

Lyrics are my favorite part of most songs... although occasionally the music will grab me regardless :)

Lately I've been listening to a bit of angry music... Eminem, Linkin Park, due to my need to vent my aggression toward my teenaged son, who is dangling off my last nerve!

Awwwww....and we're not get the song links any more either....

How are we to broaden our musical tastes if we can't listen to it and see if we like it?
*sticks out 'pet lip' and sulks*

Aw, I'm sorry Elvi! *makes sadface and offers contrite huggings* It's not on YouTube, and I don't know where else I might find it for folks to listen to.

Small Change (Got Rained on with His Own .38) by Tom Waits is what's come up now (I've got his whole catalogue in my machine right now, so he's been popping up a lot), and you can listen to it here:

It's very rambling stream of consciousness jazz age noir sounding sort of a thing, his voice backed up by a single, equally rambling saxophone that puts me in a Kerouac frame of mine.

Small Change got rained on with his own thirty-eight,
And nobody flinched down by the arcade
And the marquees weren't weeping, they went stark-raving mad,
And the cabbies were the only ones that really had it made
And his cold trousers were twisted, and the sirens high and shrill,
And crumpled in his fist was a five-dollar bill
And the naked mannequins with their Cheshire grins,
And the raconteurs and roustabouts said "Buddy, come on in, 'cause
'Cause the dreams ain't broken down here now, they're walking with a limp
Now that Small Change got rained on with his own thirty-eight"
And nobody flinched down by the arcade
And the burglar alarm's been disconnected,
And the newsmen start to rattle
And the cops are telling jokes about some whorehouse in Seattle
And the fire hydrants plead the Fifth Amendment
And the furniture is bargains galore
But the blood is by the jukebox on an old linoleum floor
And what a hot rain on Forty-Second Street,
And now the umbrellas ain't got a chance
And the newsboy's a lunatic with stains on his pants, 'cause
'Cause Small Change got rained on with his own thirty-eight
And no one's gone over to close his eyes
And there's a racing form in his pocket,
Circled "Blue Boots" in the third
And the cashier at the clothing store didn't say a word
As the siren tears the night in half, and someone lost his wallet
Well, a surveillance of assailance, it that's what you want to call it
And the whores hike up their skirts and fish for drug-store prophylactics
With their mouths cut just like razor blades and their eyes are like stilettos
And her radiator's steaming and her teeth are in a wreck, and nah,
She won't let you kiss her, but what the hell do you expect?
And the Gypsies are tragic and if you want to buy perfume,
Well, they'll bark you down like carneys, sell you Christmas cards in June, but
But Small Change got rained on with his own thirty-eight
And his headstone's a gumball machine,
No more chewing gum or baseball cards or overcoats or dreams
Someone's hosing down the sidewalk, and he's only in his teens, 'cause
'Cause Small Change got rained on with his own thirty-eight
And a fistful of dollars can't change that,
And someone copped his watch fob, and someone got his ring
And the newsboy got his porkpie Stetson hat
And the tuberculosis old men at the Nelson wheeze and cough
And someone will head south until this whole thing cools off, 'cause
'Cause Small Change got rained on with his own thirty-eight, yeah,
Small Change got rained on with his own thirty-eight

I'm listening to "For the Nights I Can't Remember" by Hedley.

First off.. I'm posting this because I love to sing along to this song.  The lead singer of this band was a favorite of mine waaaay back when he was on Canadian Idol, and I've been following his career ever since.  The song is particularly nice because it just reminds me of good times when I'm feeling down.. and who doesn't need that?

Secondly, I think this is a band that could stand a listen, and they haven't broken out of the Canadian market yet.  So.. give a listen.  I hope you'll enjoy.

[Verse 1:]
I see it in the way you would do
When no one else could ever get through
Holding back till I come around
Time and time again you wait for me to come in
And did you really look my way?
Cuz no one coulda seen this coming
I would never let you down
If I was running backwards in full time

[Bridge:]
So I can and I will and you'll see your hero come running
Over and over tonight

[Chorus:]
And I do wanna love you
If you see me running back
And I do wanna try
Because if falling for you girl is crazy
Then I'm going out of my mind
So hold back your tears this time

[Verse 2:]
Me, I'm used to being tired and bloody
But you believed that I could be somebody
You put your world on hold for me
Gave away to follow failure through the fire
I need you to know I will
Believe me girl I'm so tired of running
I just wanna hold your hand
Stare at you like you've got everything I need

[Bridge:]
And I can so I will and you'll see your hero come running
Over and over tonight

[Chorus:]
And I do wanna love you
If you see me running back
And I do wanna try
Because if falling for you girl is crazy
Then I'm going out of my mind
So hold back your tears this time

[Verse 3:]
And what if I never said to you I was dynamite
And what if I never told you I'm afraid to cry
What if I never let you down
And said I'm sorry for the nights I can't remember
What if I never said to you I would try

Yeah Yeah Yeaahh

[Chorus:]
And I do wanna love you
(If you see me running back)
And I do wanna try
Because if falling for you girl is crazy
Then I'm going out of my mind
So hold back your tears this time

[Repeat Chorus]

Hold back your tears this time

Ooooh Ooooh
