Robin Hood themed game and GM wanted
« on: October 01, 2007, 01:21:32 PM »
So here I sit with a wonderful ex-pirate on the run character who would be a fabulous Merry Maiden in Robin Hood's band, and nowhere to play her. Is anyone interested in running such a game?

I am not able to run it i am afraid but it sounds like fun.

Is Little John big or small?? Who knows!

You know..... this would work with an Anti Robin Hood. You know Robin Hood and his Terrible Men.

You know

Robbing from the Rich & the Poor.
Raping and Pillaging.  Friar Tuck is a devil worshipper. That sort of thing.

You mean Friar Tuck is a Chaucer-style friar instead of, say, Frank of Assisi?   ;D

Could indeed be fun!  Especially if played for laughs.

It would have to be laughs.

Maybe not Men in Tights but certainly tongue in cheek.

Hmm.  I could always bring back my favorite tomboy thespian and stick her in a human suit for the duration...she's usually fun.

I once had an even crazier idea.

Take from the poor, give to the rich. The 'merry band' is a group of young nobles dissatisfied with the good king not allowing them to opress and tax peasants enough.
They go into the woods and decide to fight for justice themselves and persuade other rich nobles to their cause.
"You think you don't have to pay taxes because the lord said so, leper ditch-digger? Think again! I, Howard Rood command that you give me your copper pennies so I can donate them to the cardinal! Rich people deserve all the best, not like you, you knave! Uh oh, here come the goody two-shoes guards!"

I do kind of like Comedy Jester's idea though, my ex-pirate wouldn't truly care who she was stealing from. Not sure about stealing from the poor to give to the rich though. I think my pirate would be more interested in lining her pockets.

True.

"Look, why are we wasting our time stealing from peasants?  They don't have anything!  They're peasants!  Now nobles, on the other hand, they're rich..."

Aye, but of course. Of course, we merry lasses will have to go after the peasant rogues!

You would need a Good Sherrif of Nothingham and lovely King John to keep these villians in check.

And of course, cross-dressing thespians were the rage of the day, since women weren't allowed to act.

Oh yes, we would need the two of them as well :)
