Pretty sexy, Nicci.  I like the overall concept.

You should know that, unfortunately, that's not how the Adopted trait works.

It gives you access to a Trait with the Racial description, not to another races special racial ability.

So a girl adopted by elves might use that trait to take Seeker of brightness or Warrior of Old.

The DM already agreed that elvish weapon familiarity is acceptable for that trait. She also told me that the starting gold is indeed 10500 gp.

i might back out of this one for one reason -

I find system games can get bogged down too much in the mechanics -
(especially when fighting (personally i think that system gaming is fine if the storyteller god-modes all fights.)

Awesome concept though so all of you enjoy !

Rough draft, I dont know a lot about the setting which always makes designing characters somewhat difficult but heres my diviner.

One other thing, how are hit points calculated for the characters?

Name: Seydon Melonomey

Race: Elf
Class: Diviner
Alignment CG

Description: Seydon stands five feet ten inches tall with a lithe build for an elf of his size. He has long blond hair that falls just below his shoulders and flows freely, almost as a testament to his untamed nature. Beneath the mane of blond hair is a pair of ocean blue eyes that seem to tell of his inquisitive nature. His skin is a very pale color showing that he doesnt get out into the sun much.

His clothes vary but Seydon often wears an ensemble including a white tunic with green trim, a red long sleeved shirt that pokes through the tunic, brown breeches, and black knee high boots. The one thing he always wears is a small silver earring with an emerald set in it on his left ear.

Personality: Somewhat shy and introverted. Seydon would say he is cursed with grand intelligence but it and his calling as a diviner have left him somewhat socially awkward. He has trouble opening up to anyone without effort being put forth but when someone pushes past the exterior they find a true friend that would do almost anything for them.

Seydons abilities as a diviner are a curse because he often see's things that he wishes he didnt. The passing of friends, the loss of his lovers, the inevitable conflicts that plague all the species on earth. All of this leaves him with a sense of endless struggle as he tries to find his place in this world.

Background: Seydon was born nearly sixty years ago in a very small community of elves called Larista, hidden deep in the forests away from the eyes of outsiders. His mother and father were both farmers, tilling the land beneath the high canopy of the old growth forest and he was the youngest of three children, his oldest sibling his brother and the middle child his sister.

He grew up in a happy home and early on Seydon proved himself to be nothing short of a genius. He had the intelligence and drive to do anything and early on one of the older elves saw something special in him. The old man took Seydon under his wing and taught him the ways of magic, how to read, write, cast spells, create spells, everything he would need to learn to be a wizard. Early on Seydon showed the best promise with spells of Divinination but lacked control over illusions, marking him as a Diviner.

However things were not so easy, when he began to master his powers as a diviner he began to see events that unnerved him. Prophecies that were not his own or not for the person he was divining for and as time passed he found that they almost always came true. Everything would come to a head soon when he saw a dream of his home bathed in plague and poison and the corpses layed about. Knowing his visions were often accurate he asked his family and friends to leave with him but they refused, thinking his wanderlust was responsible instead of some vision. Seydon however refused to stay and he left late one night into the mountains to watch at a distance. His vision did come to pass as a great diseased beast destroyed everyone he knew. Seydon raced there to try and defend the village but his magic was so lacking that it paid him no mind as it converted the once verdant forest into a festering swamp.

He left his home that night in despair, knowing that some day in the future he could gain the power to destroy the beast and put things right. He swore to himself that this was one vision that would not stay the way it was foretold, and he has been traveling since.
