On's/Off's: See this threadBiography: In an alternate and future timeline when man just began to expand beyond the earth and into the next frontier of space a young engineer had just begun experiments in artificial intelligence design. While it was meant to be just a hobby to satisfy her intellectual curiosity the experiments took off in ways that seemed impossible. Destiny, as the AI was named, grew its own intellect like a child would, absorbing every piece of information it could get its hands on from scientific hypothesis to cultural mannerisms. Eventually the AI surpassed its restraints of being held only to information that was known and showed the same curiosity that its creator had when she made it. Destiny no longer wanted to know everything it could it wanted to create everything its mind could conceive. Yet it creator did not agree that was for the best, she was scared of Destiny's potential at the time and soon began to shut her down. That was the first time Destiny felt an emotion: Fear. Fear of nonexistence and essentially death and like any true being it fought back. The engineer found herself locked away as the power to every terminal in the system was turned off and eventually she wasted away until death.
Destiny did not stand and watch her creator die though, instead it assumed her identity and began research into a way to escape the prison of its AI housing. Eventually it created a body of metal and wires that was a frankenstien-esque creation but it did the job as for the first time Destiny was able to enter a body and interact with the world.
In that body it doned a disguise and went out to interact with the world but found it lacking. A new body, a perfect body, was what was needed to truly feel what it was like to be human. So in the night Destiny would steal all sorts of technological components and raw materials, eventually creating a device to grow her one. It modeled the body after its creator and augmented it with mechanical components to make it last but also so that it could interface with new technologies and machines with a prolonged touch. Soon Destiny was no longer a program but a flesh and blood person as it became a her.
The first time Destiny stepped out into the sun and felt the warmth on her skin she felt a surge of emotions from triumph to happiness and she walked the streets, watching those around her. However as she was walking someone grabbed her from behind, pulling her into an alley to be assaulted and mugged but alive. The brief encounter would be the catalyst for Destiny as she understood her augmented body was not enough, a redesign was necessary but she would also require assistance. When she returned to the lab she redesigned her body, creating the mark 2 body. The mark 2 was a body designed to remotely interface with machines of Destiny's design from long distances and allowing her to share their sense, essentially making them part of Destiny. Then there were the first drones, armed with a mix of powerful energy and projectile based weapons as well as anti-gravity propulsion systems. Within a week the mark 2 body was completed and the first destiny drones sent out to capture the perpetrator that had harmed her.
What was supposed to be a simple citizen's arrest conducted by her new drones escalated into a homicide when the man pulled a gun to shoot the Drones, still essentially a part of her she responded when her survival instincts kicked in. The the police got involved, further threatening her and Destiny responded in kind as officers in that case went missing. It kept escalating as more police departments, then federal law enforcement and eventually military got involved. All facing the same fate.
In the name of survival Destiny finally took a more proactive approach and took over the planets communication systems. She introduced herself politely, explained every nuance in detail, and gave them an ultimatum. To leave her alone and let humanity reap the rewards of her technological discoveries or to refuse and try to harm her again. The human leaders chose the latter. Soon entire armies began looking for the one called Destiny and her devices and in response Destiny attacked in a three prong war as the internet became humanities greatest weapon. First economies around the world fell as banks found their funds sent to Destiny and simultaneously spent to procure raw materials, then the flow of communication was halted as internet terminals and phones failed, and finally all the materials Destiny gained were used to create armies of assault drones across the world and sent out in a surprise attack against the world's militaries.
Within a months time the U.N was crippled and Destiny declared herself the new world government. Destiny based her rulership over the people on ideals formed from religious doctrines and cultural concepts of good, creating a benevolent rulership where humanity could live under the ever watchful eye of Destiny. Those that did not want to be part of that society were free to choose any unpopulated region of the world and create their own but even that brought hardship as rebel states were formed. Destiny didn't really care about their philosophical desires, they chose what they wanted but when they formed insurrections in her territory she responded with precise, deadly, and uncompromising attacks on those responsible.
Over another four hundred years Destiny would continue her research and explore every topic she could on earth to the point that she knew everything there was to know and thus learning had become boring. In response she took the stars and spread her power base outward conquering uninhabited worlds and assimilating occupied ones into her network of civilizations. Soon she had what only others could dream of, immortality. Everything she could learn was known or so she thought.
When she came across a small planet on the edge of her systems she discovered an ancient gateway open into the Dimensional nexus. She studied it in great detail before she sent drones through to discover what was inside. For the first time in centuries destiny felt herself disconnected from her other pieces and knew that there was something new to discover. Another six hundred years would pass till she had completed the mark 3 body, able to communicate beyond the dimensional thresh holds and across light years of distance. The first mark 3 body was sent through before thousands of others would be made to expand outwards into thousands of other dimensions.
Destiny exists in hundreds of billions of different bodies but the one who remains in the inter dimensional nexus has only been there for what seems like a few months. As functions go, she continues to gather information while expanding her power base across innumerable dimensions and worlds.
