Conquest!
« on: August 09, 2007, 12:30:25 PM »

Setting: A large 18th century city at the edge of the Australian coast. Where a once beautiful and proud city stood people are being lead around by ropes and chains and a pillar of smoke rises from the grandest of buildings. The Norse had been unforgiving killing those who fought and taking prisoner those who didnít. Bodies were piled in the town square. The remnants of the royal family are lined up on a set of steps below a man sitting leisurely on the kingís throne overlooking the small town.

And what are Saxons and Vikings doing in the 18th century? Have you posted an alternate history background anywhere?

No need to go bashing the game idea. Its something simple that can be changed. Perhaps it is an alternate-verse. But the gist of the game is there.

The time period has nothing to do with the story line. I simply like the architecture of the 18th century.
And the place is the coast of Australia

The premise is either insane or brilliant. Perhaps both.

I might consider being the prince, unless this game will be very fast-paced.

I would love it to be a slow paced game, however I guess we will not know the pace of the game until after it begins....

I'll risk it and ask for the role of the captive prince, perhaps.

You have the role...I believe we only need one more to even out the numbers...I never pair people ahead of time but somehow things end up that way and I would hate for people to be ignored....

I love a;ltervrses and have been looking for a game to join or to create.
This is a great concept.
I think our Norse should come from New Zealand.

(ducks in case any Aussies throw garbage at her)

Don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing the game idea. I probably added too few smileys...

I just wanted some clarifications. I was just wondering if you have written a game introduction, or short description of the game setting. When you put vikings in the 18th century you're going to have to ask yourself if they're using powdered wigs and flintlocks, or if they still look and act like they did a thousand years before. The saxon and viking cultures (which are quite similar) are characterized by a technological level fitting for another day and age. While Viking ships were brilliant for the 9th century, they stand no chance against 18th century advances. Viking warriors were fierce, but are no match against 18th century infantry.
