Okay, imagine this, o system-wielding, storytelling, oversexed ellqiuiy geniuses!

Athas (the Darksun world for Second Edition Dungeons and Dragons) is a brutalized lands ruled by merciless Sorcerer-Kings, their Templars, and the Merchants who support them.  This is a savage desert land, full of free but savage nomads and strict civilizatiosn built on the backs of slaves, including gladiators and concubines.

The only hope for the rebirth of the world and the destruction of the Defilers is the Vieled Aliiance, an undercover ograniziation of Preserver wizards and their allies.

Could anyone possibly run a Darksun game focused on the adventures of the Vieled Alliance, not only their magic and combat prowess, but allso their ability to use seduction and charms both magical and sexual to acomplish thier goals?

That's a really cool idea.  I think I played DarkSun D&D once.  It was kinda shitty then, but that's because of the group.  Thri-kreens, right?  Is that what the giant mantis-people were called?  Yeah, everybody had one of those, or a desert-elf with type-E poison darts in their blowgun.  I think we played for 4 hours, got nowhere, and said 'fuck it'.

That said-- I'd love to help out, if I can, but I swear to christ that I know nothing of the system anymore.  I can try to brush up on the new d20 system and the old DarkSun stuff, but some help would be appreciated.

This is the official website of the d20 Dark Sun setting. Wizards of the Coast decided not to develop Dark Sun further when they aquired the TSR product line, so they let someone else have it.

Well, from what I recall of dark sun (last time I looked at it was 2nd ed AD&D) the major racial changes are the thri keen as players, halflings are vicious cannibalistic little buggers, and psionics is pretty damn common.

The world is a huge desert, and each city-state is ruled by a god-king (dragon? human? .. can't really remember) Magic tends to be powered by draining life from the surrounding area, which explains why the world is a desert.

Ild be interested in playing and I could give Tips to any interested GMs as well. Although I have to admit as far as fantasy settings intermingling sexual interaction D&D doesnt really do it. Exalted may work much better

Smart-ass! :P

I've GMed Dark-Sun for a while, using the Artas.org rules. They work well. With just the 3 core books, the XPH and that site, you have enough.

Don't really think I could GM this in an interesting way, but I might join as a player if a GM was found.

Are you in my adult exalted game yet, Brandon?

As for an Athas campaing, then, here's some thoughts.

A.  A vieled alliance story centered aroudn a harem.

B.  A story about a band of slavers?

I would far prefer 2 E, but if 3.5 was the only way I could get players, I'd do 3.5.

Also, 2E psionics are okay, except for Telepathy.  Telepathy makes my head hurt too.

So, the Vieled Alliance story or the slaver story?  What would get more players?

And 2nd edition or 3.5?

The Expanded Psionic Handbook is pretty important to DArksun, so I guess the Complete Psion would be as well.

If we must do 3.5, can someone throw me a link to the expansions?

I'll join but only under freeform criteria.

Hm...  Well, if there were multiple requests for free-form in this setting, I could maybe divvy up the game appropriately, but, short of a bit part as a hapless slave girl, the game really doesn't loan in itself to total freeform.  The veiled alliance girls would at least need to keep track of the spells they knew.

Comp Psi is probably one of the worst books in recent DnD history, but really it dos not ad anything meaningful outside of a couple of feats and some Prcs. Oh yes and some classes. Perhaps the Lurk Class is the only reason i even have the book anymore. :P

But it dos not change any of the Psi rules so if anybody wants to use anything from it he could just write it up Muse

Story B seams fun, although if a majority wants A I am cool with that to

Character vise I would go with a Telepath, maybe human depending on level?

Edit: Maybe a Wilder

I have the books for both 2.0 (got the actual Dark Sun box) and 3.5, though I'd prefer 3.5, since my 2.0 stuff is pretty rusty, but I wouldn't really mind 2.0 either. Either story sounds fine with me.

The D&D 3.5e rules: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35
The Darksun 3.5e rules: http://www.artas.org/

The Expanded Psionics Handbook is considered a core rulebook for any game involving psionics, whereas the Complete Psion is always an optional book, like Complete Warrior for example. You'll find practically everything from the XPH in the SRD (linked above), but not for the Complete Psion, so you'd have to receive everything from your players about it.

All right, then.  6th level Darksun 3.5 D&D.  Slavers of the Tablelands.  Sound good?

Count me in.

Are we playing the slavers, or some faction that wants to eliminate the slavers, or?
What races are permitted?
How do we determine ability scores?
How do we determine hit points beyond first level?
What's our starting money?

http://www.athas.org/releases/ds3/ds3_r6.pdf

I was thinking we'd be playing slavers and/or slave girls captured in the first raid who "fall for" their captors and become part of the team.

Ability Scores:  18, 16, 14, 14, 12, 10, arange as desired, and add 4 points not to exceed 18 for customization.

The races on the board are all permited, including half giants, but mamalian organs help.  ^_^

Maximum Hit Points at first level, reroll ones beyond that.

Starting money.  Hm...  Does the web site have anything to say about htat?  I haven't gotten to it yet, if so.
