This is a different sort of partner search request and it's a rather long ramble, so those of you with short attention spans who are looking for a TL;DR summary should probably move on.

I'm slowly getting back to writing here on E after being absent for a few years.  Those years away were difficult ones in real life with several significant health issues cropping up.  I am still finding my energy limited and with that in mind, I've thought seriously about how many and what types of role plays I can engage in without having to end any stories and disappoint my writing partner.  I've come to the conclusion that I'd enjoy writing a slice of life story with no real kinks and no substantial plot points, but with a heavy emphasis on the thoughts and feelings of the characters.  That will be boring for many of you, so feel free to move on after reading that last sentence if you are so inclined.

You may ask "Why bother writing such a vanilla story?"  I can think of a few reasons.

First, just because the story situation isn't full of life-and-death choices, extreme circumstances, or action-packed action (A tagline for the movie The Ice Pirates.) doesn't mean the characters don't have very real and often very confusing thoughts and emotions.  Think back to your high school/college days (or later) and any romances you may have had that didn't involve saving a kingdom, a future and/or fantasy world, partners who were CIA agents, or dragons.  I imagine a few of you can remember at least one relationship that didn't fall into any of those categories.  What did you feel?  Fear? Angst?  Excitement?  Jealousy?  Embarrassment and/or awkwardness?  Growing fondness and eventually real love?  Or maybe your heart was broken and that nearly ruined what turned out to be a wonderful experience in the end?  Yeah, I thought so.

Second, even if we consider only "normal" relationship building in our younger days, many of us ... perhaps even most of us, did things we would never do without the spur of strong attraction to someone else.  We might have gone to great lengths to put ourselves physically close to the object of our feelings - perhaps running half-way across campus and back between classes just to spent a minute or two near his/her locker.  Or maybe we accepted a school dance date offer from someone in whom we had absolutely no interest in the hope of ditching our date once we arrived and then catching the eye of that special person.  Perhaps a few of us even threw ourselves shamelessly at the person in a desperate attempt to at least get their attention.  Ah yes, The Things We Do for Love.  Have a short listen right now and see if those lyrics and the melody don't jar loose some memories.  :-)

And lastly, what about the chance not taken?  Was there someone who ticked all of your boxes and left you breathless, but who you were too terrified to ask for a date?  Someone who you thought was out of your league even though your feelings for them were very real and very persistent?  Wouldn't it be nice to revisit that situation, only this time have the confidence to talk with them or ask for a date to explore what might have been?

That's where my mind is at and I'm looking for someone to write a female character who is the object of MC's affection.  I'm normally not too concerned about the real life gender of my writing partners, but because this story would have a strong focus on the thoughts and emotions of the two characters I'd prefer to have a female writing partner.

The looks and character traits of YC are up to you, although it would be nice if she was attractive, intelligent, and perhaps had a twisted sense of humor to match my own.  I think this story would work best as a long one-shot that ends at a point where the two reach a significant milestone in their relationship.  Whether that's their first sexual experience or the conversation that has them definitely going their separate ways is open for discussion.  Other plot endings are possible as well, of course.

For this role play to be successful both of us will need to be imaginative and to have good writing skills.  A substantial vocabulary will also be necessary to capture the nuances of our character's feelings as that is the primary reason for writing the role play.  The plot is intentionally open and we can discuss any and all aspects of the situation and plot direction.

I look forward to hearing from you!  :-)

If I've been online here on E but I haven't replied to your post or message, there are several possible reasons - none of which involve ignoring you.  Be patient - I'm worth it.
