The pairing of the story is simple: a Human and a Vampire.

The specific details of the pairing are where things get interesting. My character, the human, is a vampire hunter who generally tries to kill them wherever he can find them. Your character is a vampire whose life he spared. The particular arrangement between them is that MC allows YC to feed on him periodically to keep her healthy and alive. In return, she helps him to hunt down other vampires and protect people from being killed and/or enslaved by the blood suckers.

This story should start off with the two of them trying to keep things professional. He keeps her fed, she helps him to hunt, nice and simple. But the problem is that blood given willingly to a vampire is a very intimate exchange, requiring the human to trust that the vampire would drain them dry and kill them or turn them. This intimacy and trust has left a budding attraction between the pair of them, which I'd like to see gradually become a romantic relationship between the two.

Of course, this arrangement leaves them both in difficult situations. MC has to keep his “pet vampire” a secret from other hunters, as they would likely kill her and imprison him if they found out about the relationship. Meanwhile, YC has to come to terms with helping someone kill her kind. I suspect that my character would be considered a 'soft' hunter for sparing your character's life, and would be willing to spare other vampires as well, provided that they could find similar arrangements to make involving others. So, they're both keeping secrets: him from other hunters, and she from other vampires. Its a dangerous game they're playing, furthering their need to be able to trust one another.

For this story, I like the idea that vampires aren't too much more powerful than a typical human. Rather than having superhuman strength and speed, its more that they are super durable and heal quickly from injuries as long as they have access to blood. But they aren't so powerful that a lone hunter couldn't kill a vampire on their own. One well trained hunter against one typical vampire should be a relatively even fight, with the real advantage that vampires have being the fact that they live – theoretically – forever, giving them lots of time to plan things out in ways that will help them avoid any undesired confrontations.

Ideally, I'd like to have this story in a modern setting, but I wouldn't be opposed to some kind of alternate history, nor to something futuristic, as long as it still sounds like it will be fun to read and write. Also ideally, when things between our leading characters do get sexual, I'd like for your lady vampire to take on a more submissive role for this one.
