Simply (difficult) answer: characters to relate with.

The demigods I've seen so far (including mine) are rather "special" personalities. Which does fit with the setting of course. But even they need someone to relate with. Even lady "fuck em all" might want a confidante/friend without benefits, Mr. "know it all" might need someone to listen to and be in awe with and lady "be it all (later)" might cherish someone who keeps her on her toes.

If I'm wrong, correct me wigglebiscuit and rubyslippers, but I think such "support cast", that brings out the multi-dimensionality of the demi is VERY important. Mind you, by support I don't mean "sidekicks" or "fan service". I mean something more like the Spock to the Kirk, and we all know how much of a stronger character Spock was in TOS.
Disclaimer (WIP)
English isn't my native language. I'm deeply rooted in a culture with significantly different (much more direct) communcation strategies than typical for the extremely polite british or canadian cultures, or the "optimistic" approach often used in the USA. Additionally, I'm not neurotypical in several ways, warping my perception and communication to an even further degree.

But: my english is JUST good enough to lull many readers into a false sense of security. Think of it as the communicative equivalent to "false friends words" which, while extremely similar in outward appearance in two languages, mean something slightly but importantly different. Like "I want to become a steak" makes perfect sense to a german... that still would prefer not to be butchered.

So please, if you perceive my words as rude, my intentions as unemotional or just weird: ask me. I'm not always successful in my attempts to correctly guess the fluff and embellishments needed for successful communication. Not in my native german tongue, much less so in english. Please do not interpret them as bad intent, but feel free to ask for clarifications. I'll try my best to solve such misunderstandings, and learn to prevent them.

well I will give it a look see...but tell me, since you are here...I know the demigods are full up. What sort of character will you all be needing, what trope or type? After all, I can build and tweak without having seen the first episodes...as long as you tell me what I should aim for.

Any of the New Gods would be a wonderful addition to the cast. :) Mr. World and Tech boy  I would love to see personally.

I agree 100% with this. Matilda is an empty person right now.

RubySlippers

I redid my character she is immortal well barring unusual things like supernatural force used on her, but her psychic powers largely can't affect gods save well telekinesis but that is physical not mental power and limited her media dominion to YouTube since it fits her eloquence and well more affinity for technology but more because she uses the tools of the modern age over domain over them. Tech Boy still would be a master of Technology and Media master all media she more piggy backs on them somewhat. Her real power comes from those who deny faith and deities and the supernatural as Atheists/Skeptics. I wanted her to fit the "New" New Goddess but not be like Tech Boy more the Old Gods and deities in general are just not worth her time unless they make themselves a problem its better if they just go away.

Sirian Eve

Oooo very interesting. I need to get to work on my character sheet O.O

I like my character not as powerful at Tech Boy and the two other leading New Gods but has strengths she is resistant to immune to their powers, well weaker ones like Bilatis in the game who only hold out due to deals cut with a New God likely would be to weak to call up much mojo to harm her if Tech Boy cuts her off.  >:)

I would likely see her have more issues with say Odin and his son Thor, but again she might fair okay if she can up her power levels in time. A direct fight isn't desired.

But look at my lovely smiling Ginger woman how dangerous could she be?  ;)

Sirian Eve

Aloha everyone. I have not forgot about you. I'm  traveling but should have some more surprises for you  all tomorrow. I just  need to sit down long enough to post. :p

Its okay, you might want to npc the big  boys and girls leaving us team second string on each side.

Hello!  I'm very interested in joining.  I'd very much like to play The Morrigan (although I am still considering how to give her that patented American Gods spin).

Is this something I could do?  Maybe I could be Matilda's mother.

RubySlippers

Well Old Gods as in her either feed off of her element but weakened a good deal like strife, war and fertility OR cut a deal with a New God like you are allowed by media to be a action star and you feed on your fans or other adaption. Another option blend into another religion like a Catholic Saint and get power there. So depends on your poison.  ;D

Name: The Morrigan, Ms. Crow.
Faceclaim: Claudia Black
Age: Thousands of years, current cycle 41.
___
Type: goddess
Gender/Tastes: Female/Bisexual
History: The Morrigan is older than the written word.  She's gone by thousands of names in her time, and is in a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth.  She is dying, and doesn't know if there will be another cycle, but is determined to make sure it does.
Worship: She is still worshipped by the few members of the british isles who fear for their lives, rather than seeking solace in the idea of pearly gates in the clouds.  She has maintained sustinenance in fox-holes where men fear death, and nurseries where mothers pray for their baby's health.  Thanks to the work of Mr. World, war is almost a thing of the past, and thanks to modern medicine, the birth of children is barely more than an inconvenience. Her power is diminishing greatly.
___
Truths: She is dying, pure and simple. Each day, men and women get up and know that the day will be more or less like the day before it.  No one fears death, or seeks her guidance and forsight to read the signs of the future.
Lies: Although she flirted with the idea of becoming canonized when "The Church" settled the green isle.  She detests the religious of peace that have become 'in vogue' and seeks only to make the world fear their lives once more.
Dominions: War, Fertility, Sovereignty
Abilities/Powers: Very little.  She's a capable and competent woman who knows how the world works and how to hold her own in it, but lacks the power to effect the world much.  She can still call upon her forsight and magicks, but only to effect the world in limited way and see the future, in particular the nature of someone's death.

Coming to America
In Ellis Island, a woman is dying of Cholera.  She's an old crone with nothing in her posession but her clothes and her child.  She has come to the land of opportunity much like the rest of her countrymen, to the land of opportunity where a person can make their dreams a reality.  This woman is the Morrigan.

She is turned away for her boils, but the woman was smart.  Althouugh she will seccumb to her disease soon, the child in her arms is not her own.  It belongs to another woman, and that woman, does not realize that the infant she swaddles as she boards the boat to the mainland is not her own.  This child is the Morrigan.

That child would grow up to be a doctor.  Her parents and family always knew something was different about her.  She was too clever by half and had a queer interest in matters not fit for a young woman.  When War arrived to take hold of the globe, she joined enthusiastically, following the men and women doomed to die as they travelled to Europe.  When she returned, she wandered for many years, knowing exactly when she would be able to wander no more.  She died in childbirth, having only a daughter.  This daughter is the Morrigan.

RubySlippers

We can use some characters with penises here. Just saying its a bit imbalanced when it comes to gender. I still think the big series divine players should be npc's IMHO.

evilnerf

Well, speaking strictly for myself, it does not need any male characters in order to hold my interest.

RubySlippers

Well some key series gods are male Odin, Mr. World and Tech Boy come to mind.

RubySlippers

Any more action on this I'm eager to start, and how evil can a Ginger be since they have no soul.  >:)

RubySlippers

Well I contacted the GM directly to see if she intends to run this something could have come up and if not ask her if I could pick up the game and run with it.

My plans are the major players in the series be npc's, and players will be taking sides, the New Gods have the momentum not needing mortal prayer and with karma shifting old gods can't be as open as they once were making them lose power slowly most keep going do to cosmic power of say death fueling death gods a little and some still get worship the Native Indian deities or superhero movies keep Thor and Odin in the minds of mortals. But they can be forgotten and many old gods are gone or joined the New Gods rebranding themselves to keep going or are neutral but holding on.

But don't want to anger the original GM.

El Maligno

I am greatly interested in this rp. I have a few questions as well as ideas.

RubySlippers

Well its been a few weeks I'm going to start a game and if the exceptional GM who proposed this wants to do a game that is two games with different approaches.

Okay I'm keeping this simple I want several Demigods these can be either reforming old gods who managed to get a bit of mojo to keep going for a bit but who are frankly weak and new deity demigods who must fill a new gap not taken by the Big Three, but have reliable sources of power some power can be on a borrowed portion of a new big god like a Demigod of New War likely is into cyber warfare and modern tech so would give some power to Tech Boy or share most of the power but keeps some with Tech Boy.

An example one could be a New Muse of Science who after taking out a few other Old Muses assumed their domains and amplified of course for the new shift in inspiration. In short have fun I'll set up a dedicated OCC and Character Sheet Thread.

evilnerf

In your idea, do the Old gods have to be people who have already committed to the New gods, or is their seduction going to be part of the game?

RubySlippers

Oh yes the other side is active and some are doing okay for example the less martial old gods like Aphrodite and Gia have some power flow. Thanks to paganism and well people falling in love etc. But its more as a group they could match the new gods but frankly are not all on the same page.

RubySlippers

OOC for my American Gods game you must be a Demi-power as in either a new deity not per se a NEW deity or something elemental becoming one for example a fledgling AI who becomes a divine power in a domain more details will be in the OCC later but if an old deity demi-power you must be a weak one striving to survive and will gain power only by working at it.

I'm doing a different character sheet I favor simple.
